Grew up in India and in the mid 90's I and my brother would wait for this song to be aired over the TV and we would go ballistic when this came on. We lived every second of the telecasts. Din't understand a word of what he said but whatever he said and the music was top level jam.
when i was in Libya in 1992 with my bike it was number one at the street. When i listen to Khaled i always remember the wonderful country, nature and the friendly and helpful people….
I was in the UAE when this song came out, and practically every street in Dubai and Abu Dhabi had this song blasting out of restaurants, cars, trucks.. I mean... Didi Didi was everywhere. It was also kind of funny to watch young Arabs (locals) dancing to this song right on the street with music blaring from their cars -- uh... Ferraris and Benzs.
This was the first Algerian Rai song I heard in my life in the 1990's as a kid and I immediately fell in love with Algerian Rai music after that and listened to all of Khaleds' songs and then Mami, Rachid Taha, Faudel, Natasha Atlas and many more. I love Rai music!!

The absolute OG legend of a track from the yesteryear. I have memories of listening to it on MTV as a 4 year old. I was growing up in India, in the later part of the 90s. There was no Shazam, no Soundhound. It took me many years before i could finally pinpoint the artist and the track itself and pestered my dad to buy me the disc when I was about 11 years old. True art has no boundaries. Cheb Khaled helped me graduate to Cheb Mami and Hisham Abbas. I grew up in many parts of India and my parents always wondered about my taste in music. I am 27 now and listen to every thing from Umm Kulthum to Fairuz to classical Syrian to Nancy Ajram to Haytham Shaker to Amr Diab to Mohammed Hamaki to Hussain Al Jasmi to Abdul Majeed Abdullah to Rashed al Majid to Majid al Mohandis to Cyrine Abdel Noor to most other artists popular today. My liking for Arabic music has helped me understand the history and culture of the middle east beyond the usual news channel nonsense. It all began with this track. Cheb Khaled is a lengend.
Think was my first arabic song I ever came across in life. When I was a kid we spend our holiday in Tunisia in 1995 or 1996. There my parents bought exactly this album on a street- market. Once I heard this song back home in my country I continued listening to it over and over again. ❤❤❤
I first heard this 30 years ago at my school function. A guy had performed to this song. When I listened to this song I was literally awestruck I didn't know what the heck was this but I didn't want it to end. Once the song ended we all roared and demented for a repeat performance. And on popular demand he did it again. Man what a response to this song. We didn't under the language just the beat was enough your body will dance by itself. Magic!! I still remember that day. Even ppl outside of our school stopped to listen and watch. Just unbelievable unbeatable.
No doubt. I am really curious, was this specifically popular in Kerala, if so why, I see a lot of comments here. From TN, never heard it but I love it.
