Wow, okay, so I started this after 15.05 aired and we got Sam sending Cas a million messages because wow did that obliterate my Sastiel heart! I was hoping we'd have more come out of it, but oh, well, lol. I can't be the only one who's noticed how often Cas directs longing looks at Sam this season, right? rofl.
Anyway, yeah. I love this song and wanted to use it with them so bad. I hope you're all staying safe and healthy right now. I'm on medical leave again because I'm high risk so hopefully I can find more time now to edit for you guys!

Noticed how on the show Dean gives up on Cas often but Sam NEVER gives up on him? In fact he is the one who keeps convincing Dean to trust him again, because he's family. This edit is lovely💜
It's kinda the opposite actually! In S6 it's Sam who says that he has Dbts Cas is betraying them and Dean refuses to believe it. He doesn't want to believe it till the very moment Cas is not able to look at him.
Even when Cas is possessed by Lucifer, Dean is the one who wants to save him. He gets mad at Sam for calling Cas, "it". See only see Sastiel as platonic cause of these small details and differences between them. Dean and Cas do get mad at eachother but you can only be mad at someone you love. Someone you care about.

Agreed. They have a different bond the. Castile and Dean, but it’s equally as strong. Castile is so protective of Sam Bc he views him like a little brother. Just like Dean does.

Yeah, I feel like logistically and realistically it would made more sense to make Sastiel canon, because at this rate, it would be more like unnecessary fan service to make Destiel canon. Not to mention, the showrunners have a penchant for subverting our expectations. I am Destiel fan as well, but I also see that with the amount of heat this ship gets it may get repetitive and tiresome for some fans to deal with and if they made it canon now, it would probably turn a lot of fans off. Especially considering recent events regarding the relationship between Dean and Cas (meaning all the shit that happened from 15x03-15x09).

I was late to the SPN family (a Covid binger!) and I have to say the brotherhood between Dean and Cas always stuck out more prevalently.... After Cas revealing he only cared about Sam because of Dean, revisiting this stuff hurts. Sam cared about Cas way more than Cas ever cared about him. And he spent the entirety of Season 15 neglecting Sam while Sam kept worrying and hurting over him being gone, but especially on his last day on earth, he neglected Sam BIG time and then he went and told Dean of his bias as some twisted virtuous confession of love?! He really did pull the rug from under Sam's feet, without even telling him directly! Good on Dean for helping Sam move on from the pain Cas left behind for him. No wonder Sam and Dean are each others' soulmates for eternity.

You can love someone without romantic love. It is great to see a deep love between two men, two true friends. In a world that frowns on men showing any emotion besides anger this is good to see. You don't have to ship characters for them to love each other. Even after Cas hurt Sam so cruelly by breaking his wall and people forget it was Cas that made sure Lucifer was released by freeing Sam from the panic room. Sam thought he was helping he didn't know it would start the apocalypse, Cas knew the truth and made sure the plan went ahead, Sam still cared for Cas and defended him.
Yeah; Sam gets all the blame for Lucifer rising. And he takes 100% responsibility.
But….Dean broke the first seal. And it really does get forgotten that Cas set Sam free, knowing what he would do.
Pushing him into playing the part the angels intended.

I love this video - and I absolutely adored Sam's and Cas' friendship in the series (It's one element that was important to me in my fic "Being Human" by Heidigard over on AO3 as well.) Dean's and Cas' bond was sort of forced (in the beginning at least. I do believe they genuinely fell in love later.), but Sam's and Cas' friendship grew organically from less than nothing, and one thing I regret is that it didn't get more screentime. Even in the finale, Sam seemed to be the only one who cared that Cas was gone, and as much as I'm a destiel shipper, that was a tough blow.
PS: I'm not a Sastiel shipper, but whatever floats your boat is fine with me.
