I have memories of when this was first reissued as a CD in the late 80s. There was an attempt made to collect the entire 7 March 1963 session on one CD and to move the 7 October cuts over to the CD reissue of-- I believe it was "Straight No Filter." It was a bit confusing to me at the time since I was so accustomed to the configuration on the LP. Later editions restored the original tracks, if I am not mistaken. BTW my own personal favorite cuts are "Up A Step" and "Carolyn."
I'ts an authentic Manifest of Modern Hard Bop. All the musicians are on fire during the session. Other gems from the Master Tenor saxophonist: "Hank Mobley Quintet"(10" inch),"Soul Station" and "Another Workout"-- all Blue Note recordings.
Bright Jazz Warrior, for sentimental and nostalgic reasons is "Hank Mobley Quartet". Only 25 minutes of sublime jazz but...What 25 minutes!!!! Horace Silvér is on Fire and is the perfect support and inspiration for Mr. Mobley ( The Middle Weight Champion).
@@carlosmaruganrebollo1162 I was fortunate to grab a copy of that classic from Music Matters before they started increasing their prices. Not sure if they still have any left. Probably time for it to be added to the Classic Vinyl Series.
Well, Here in Europe is easy to get a copy at Discogs. I bought mine in an Austrian Shop (I'm spaniard living in my country). Reissue from Japan Toshiba-EMI for about 60 €. JazzFriend, Today in the USA still lot of brilliant players are making extraordinary Straight Ahead Jazz. Why in RUclips and other sites there aren't reviews of these remarkable artists? Not all in the jazz world are reissues... Eric Alexander, Mike LeDonne, Terrell Stafford, Joe Farnsworth, Vincent Herring, Emmet Cohen, One For All, Heavy Hitters...to name a few are incredible jazz musicians of first class. They also have vynils in the market. Don't understand (like many peaople here in Europe and Japan) how these jazzmen are not more popular in their own nation. They are awesome. Warm salute from Southeast Spain. Keep on swingin' !!!!

I still have my original CD too. I never purchased the RVG remastered addition though.

Sorry "Hank Mobley Quartet"
Do you have a favorite by him? I know choosing one over another is very very hard.
