JP Tucson, AZ I agree! Problem is I think is it’s all privately funded. That said some of the bigger clubs could raise money for the vehicle and equipment, then get certifications and or permissions for the frequencies and to work with the agencies. I worked in Red Cross Disaster Services as well alongside Emergency Management for Spotting. That required training and permissions and my time (volunteer). It was fun and we got to make new friendships.
Just found out about this channel through the modern rogue and now i really need to learn about ham radio. I have got to find out some more and maybe talk to someone about it.
When he showed you the marine band radio, he said they are considered a "Class B" operator. Where can I find more information on that, as we are equipping our EMComm vehicle for ARES with Marine band as well (since we're located near the Mississippi River)?
Love those antennas like the one he has on the front. I saw them (Them = CODAN units) on all of the UNICEF and UN vehicles in Madagascar. Indestructible screwdriver antenna on steroids. Looks like Icom has their own version as well (AH-760/740). They connect directly to their F8101 Part-90 HF radio (ALE and all that fun stuff) for full "as you tune" auto tuning and automatic HF operating.
Good video. Toward the end, I couldn't hear what he was saying because you interrupted him. Maybe you need another microphone for the person you interview? It would make it easier to hear them.
Lot's of capability but 10lbs of stuff in a 3.5lb box, Wow! Josh, when aiming your camera around, puh-leeze pan it slowly! I was ready to stop the video and move on. Jus' sayin'
Hi Josh! Great video I enjoyed it. I wish we had that kind of unit here in Mexico. 🤔Maybe I'll build one. Any chance you could tell me how to contact these guys to give me an idea and start putting the project on paper first? There is a lot of info on your video but I believe communication needs are different here in Mexico. I hope you are doing well and thank you again not just for this one but every video you make! Interesting layout and design.
Do they have solar panels too ? And is this vehicle part of a convoy as it seems all the Comms eggs are in one place ?
Wow, what a mobile OC. Incredible capabilities and just simply cool!
I have seen this van in person at the Stone Mountain Hamfest in Georgia. Amazing!

Dude no more interviews for you okay damn man you won't even let the guy talk without interrupting
Oh man damn man. Thanks for that. Super helpful.
So, is this an expensive toy / advertisement for Icom, or do they actually use it?

The ultimate HAM/Prepper's mobile comm's platform...
Yes indeed!
Can you tell me the brand/model of the antenna on the front? I like that one and could see our Red Cross group using something similar.
Our county emergency management would kill for something like this. WOW!
