I think these lines didn't really apply to Ymir. Technically yes, but Kenny said that as something that makes them go on such as Erwin's dream, Eren's freedom, and Armin's drive to go to sea. But Ymir is different.

13 fingers pointed Ymir - 13 years of curse
9 petals on flower that Ymir saw when she fell off the slope - 9 titans shifters

To me, one of the main lessons to take away from this story (and perhaps overlooked by many) is how many cycles of hatred and revenge that exist irl are perpetuated by indoctrination on things that happened ages ago... To a point when no one who actually lived them is alive today to tell what really happened.
Eren Krueger said it best: "Anyone can become a god or a devil. All it takes is for someone else to believe it."
Humanity overall just lacks perspective, compassion and empathy, even to this day (it's a bleak reality, but Isayama portrays it very well in this story).

There's an interesting parallel in this episode that I rarely see being talked about. When Grisha reveals the power of the Attack Titan, he says that "it was all for this moment, to fight the self-righteousness of the king". There are two kings called "Fritz"; the first one enslaved Ymir both in life and in death, by using her three daughters (Rose, Maria, Siina) to extend the power of the founding titan. The other one enslaved all subjects of Ymir, her descendants, by trapping them within the walls (Rose, Maria, Siina) and removing their memories with the power of the founding titan.

It's messed up but it's also like what do you do when it's kill or be killed and not just for you, for all the people you care about.

2nd of all, A small genocide will still get innocent ppl killed and will only make the world hate Eldians even more.
3rd of all, everyone would just be spinning in circles. Eren had the right idea, just get rid of them.
4th of all, the 50-year plan/Euthanization plan is terrible and only led to the extinction of the Eldian race which is what Eren didn't want because he believed everyone was special because they were born into this world. *IF* the world tried to take his freedom, he won't hesitate to take the world's freedom. That plan forces Historia to be sacrificed and become a breeding ground and who's to say someone in royal family doesn't want to keep going with this horrible plan. The parasite is inspired from the Hallucigenia, one of the first creature to exist on earth. It's our far ancestor. It's able to change form when needed, to adapt to everything. You could call that the origin of life.
For the nine, it will be never explained why nine. But titan's powers are in the spinal fluid. So, we soppose that : by eating their mom, Rose, Maria and Sina splited the power in three. We could guess that they made children and were eaten the same way, until there were nine titan's shifters. But at some point, they decided to stop spliting the power, and made only one person inheriting the powers.
So... Ymir was not an Eldian. The "devil" Marley hate is not even Eldian. Ironic, isn't it ? She was a mere slave who bow to the first king of the tribe Eldia. And both Marley and Eldians were right, Eldians used titans to conquer nations and to help people by building bridges and roads....
Some believe the Attack Titan was created by Ymir to rebel against the king. That's exactly why she gave it the power to transcend time, because she knew Eren will come and free her after 2000 years, creating a story where the end is determined and can't change. And the title thing with the 2000 years. It's a message sent through time, between Eren and Ymir. Ymir sent him a vision in the very first episode of the show, and Eren only answered her at this episode we are watching. Everything came in full circle. Ymir and Eren are the begenning and the ending of the story, the opposite characters but with the same will for freedom. They were linked since the very begenning, as a reflect of each others. You could say it's destiny of fate. But this is more complex than that. You'll understand by continuing watching the show.

13:03 Maybe this is wrong, but when I watched this episode I thought Ymir somehow influenced the way Eren was since he was born, his personality. If you think about it Eren's extreme obsession with freedom from a young age was atypical. The way he never backed down to bullies, and how he always felt energized and lost all fear when it was about taking freedom back. Remember he said to Armin that as a child the idea that there were monsters outside keeping him trapped inside a cage was what made him want to fight and join the scouts for the first time, because he could not stand that thought (Armin wanted to explore the outside world to gain knowledge, Eren wanted to oppose the people that were oppressing him so he could be free).
Think of the time Eren saved Mikasa when they were children. Eren was very small at the time, just a child, yet he literally felt murderous rage when he realized that those men where keeping Mikasa against her will, and he didn't hesitate one second before taking extreme action. Maybe he felt the urge to free Mikasa in the same way that he was supposed to free Ymir. Maybe the attack titan embodies Ymir's deep, repressed desire for freedom, since she was a slave in life and remained a slave after death, and that is why the attack titan cannot be controlled by the royal family in the same way that the other titans can. It could be that the attack titan and Eren were both "created" for the same reason, and Eren was destined to inherit it.
Or it could also be that my theory is wrong and Eren's personality was not influenced by Ymir, but that she just tipped the scales to allow Eren to get to her in the hopes that he could free her, because of his innate desire for freedom.
I think it is interesting to consider Ymir's story. It is almost like there were two sides to her: the part that saw herself as someone whose purpose is only to serve others (like Frieda said to Historia: "be like Ymir, live in a way that would make you loved by everyone", or something along those lines), and the part that had the impulse to free the pigs from the pen, even though it went against the will of the others.

I say this to all on a first watch: i wholeheartedly recommend a rewatch from the start once you get to the end, theres an absolutely unbelievable amount of foreshadowing that shows the level of genius this show's writer truly had. It's as close to perfect as a story can be, it rises to Breaking bad, better call saul, death note, and surpasses them all.

The way you feel conflicted over Eren: that's all Isayama's authorial intent. That part of you that identifies with and supports season 1 Eren's desire for freedom, justice, and vindication, THAT is the part of you that Isayama wants you to second-guess, moderate, and consider restraining; it is that part of us - however attractive - that leads us toward our most violent instincts. It's the reason that season 1 glorifies everything Eren does. He slaughters "animals that look like humans"; he becomes a "symbol of hope". And if we emulate that role model, we too "discard our humanity" to defeat "monsters".
