This will happen a lot if you install the sprocket incorrectly when you're tightening the spokes they are reverse thread and the spoke that goes to the right side of the wheel will pull it to the left when you tighten it. 99% of getting a motorize bike to work correctly is setting up properly at the start. Make sure the wheels are true and the spokes are tights, check the bearing pre-loads, make sure everything is aligned properly and all adjustments are correct. I have a suspicion that the people that have poor performance from these bikes don't know anything about proper assembly and adjustments.
@@seedlessgrapes2605 Just subbed! Thanks for the content- I like the way you present the information. I run a kit rag joint sprocket and I've had zero problems with it. But it did take me about 5 or 6 hours over two days to get it set up exactly correct- no side to side or up or down wobble greater than 1mm. I think that is where most people fail in building the bike- they don't know how to get a gear set to zero. Also, I've found some of the main crank to clutch sprockets to be out of round. This will cause premature failure of the bearing and a noisy gear set. The only way to check it is with a dial indicator. Replace it if it's bad and make sure the backlash is less than .030" It really helps to go over the motors before firing it up for the first time. I've found casting slag, dust, grit, and other contaminates inside the motors. Giving them a good clean and fresh oil coating before the first firing up will go a long way to thousands of trouble free miles.
@@tjsogmc you are very smart I also love the rag joint it works really well for me and the sprocket is probably the most important like you're saying for me especially when turning I go pretty far cuz I'm on a motorcycle rider so I have to have it lined up otherwise the chain will come off

Yep. I totally agree with you if sitting outside in a rainstorm 2 days ago and last night. A huge wind storm and I'm sure it's going to start right up. The only issue it's had its whole life is a big intake leak that I can never fix. No matter what I did so it just idles high but I controlled out with the kill switch and it goes down after about 2 seconds. Throttle broke about a week ago and I did a rigged repair and it just broke again. So I need to get a new one.

Yea you can run the bike whitout airfilter and sand can get into there and get throve :D, but that unlucky time when a big enought rock comes in and goes somewhere bad, but cheap engines 👌
Yes I totally understand what you're saying I also see your Enduro or your trail bike I've been riding dirt bikes my whole life and street bikes so yes it makes no sense about the dirt getting in there but my biking Canada I ran off road for for 5 years never had that problem I was running a rear fender but still it's just weird they don't suck hard enough or I've been getting really lucky like you said the motors are really cheap anyways but they get so much better power without an air filter it's weird. I'm sure I could add an aftermarket air filter or a bigger car but I'm one of those people I've never modified not even a boost bottle not even an exhaust I like that they're super cheap and I don't expect much out of it and just ride the hell out of it
@@seedlessgrapes2605 When you run without an air filter I'm pretty sure it makes it run more lean. You also have more air flow so it's not choking as much
idk whats up with my bike and its pretty much brand new only 6 months old and my carb whent bad so i got another and now it wont give spark so i got a used spark plug from my friend and im going to put it on today. idk how i just loose spark 10 minuets after riding all i did was change brake pads that day
Integgy if your kill switch is still hooked up cut one of the kill switch wires and that will tell you if the kill switch is grounding out and of course make sure your spark plug is good but I'm one of the people that doesn't obsess over spark plugs I've had the same spark plug for 10,000 miles they last a long time but most likely it's your Magneto but try cutting the wire for the kill switch if that doesn't work you can also check the connections where you plug the wires from the Magneto to the coil I always solder those myself just to make sure there's no problems
Dude loved ur vid ride on brother Just built my first one finished tonight gonna fire it tomorrow oh by the way I bought this engine 15years ago lol still in box never used
I filed down my throttle cable nubs and stick it into the break lever. I took my air filter off and just put a baby sock over the hole with a zip tie to keep big shit out. The spark plug that came with my kit was bad so I replaced it and it was set. 29in mtn bike from Walmart I replaced the shitty front shock fork with a rigid steel fork. I loved building my bike.
i recommend removing the exhaust cap from the bottom it makes it a little bit louder but it gives it more power and more torque from bottom end as well
Ive riden mine for over 300 miles mostly on trails like a dirtbike and the only problem I ever had was a gas leak every now and again. I recently hit a tree bent the forks. But i have new forks one thd way cant wait to get back out on it.
Dude riding these on dirt is the most fun especially if you have dirt bike experience there's nothing like these because it's a lot of effort and super Sketchy
Are you telling me that? Or were you trying to answer someone's question because I would hope everyone knows that I knew that when I was probably four or five years old. I also knew how to patch my own Tire when I was three or four.
I built mine never really rode it more then around the neighborhood. Took it downtown 15 miles there and 15 back. Last 4 miles rear rim exploded. I fixed it sorta. I’m hopin it’ll work
I put over 10k miles on my cheap Chinese motor years ago when it was my only transportation. Took it to work, class, shopping. Rain snow, put a 36t socket on it. 45mph easy and I'm 250lbs.

That is a good idea now recently well three or four months ago I wrapped it with chrome duct tape and it looks funny and works good I'm just going to leave it like that for now
i spend half a day messing with the carb and did something and it magically worked perfect after that, i was able to ride trails up north for the whole week
Seedless Grape f****** sweet awesome videos man keep them coming from the future I'm pretty new into this motorized bike stuff but do you have a good recommendation for a motor kit that is reliable yes I know you got to do daily maintenance and checking for just a good motor what kind and where at please help

It's not about the right stuff don't work it's about installing the kit properly and keeping up on tightening the bolts especially the exhaust and the head bolts and the motor mount bolts
im about to take my surly cross check with a 66cc china girl from new York to northwestern arizona. lets hope she holds. or else its gonna be a long pedal. do you use synthetic mix oil??? did you say FOUR STROKE OIL????
Is it feasible to take a complete spare kit along, for immediate repairs if needed? Maybe skip the gas tank, and the rest can be packed smaller than the shipping cartons. Sounds like an adventure and a half - I wish you a safe arrival at your destination.
tyvm!!! i appreciate it. yeah---its just the bare-bones, broken-in "base motor" with everything removed. carb, pipe, everything is stripped off. (less weight) if the current motor goes,..i remove the carb and exhaust and bolt it to my spare.--you thought I was going to bring an entire new KIT with tank, chain, and all those cables and hardware? LOL!!. nooooooo. no no no. ohhhh no. just a used, broken-in base motor,..wrapped in padding in my bag,.waiting to be swapped in if necessary---but that IS funny. a whole new kit from china strapped to my back??? like im gonna need a backup gas tank,..or another chainguard.... LOOOL---im sorry. that is just too funny.
Holy Ship brother I hate RUclips it doesn't alert me I'm just going through these comments and looking at some other comments and I see yours and I never saw this I would have loved to talk to you and keep in touch with you along the way I'm sure that was a crazy ride and yes you can run 4 stroke oil with basically the same exact thing in fact the manual with the motors will say you can run 10:30
@@robertsmith5323 the weird thing is the motor doesn't blow up it's the chain that breaks the clutch that has issues the intake will fall off it will have intake leaks the throttle cable will break the clutch cable will break so basically everything except the motor is what you should have brought with you LOL
Sadly I couldn't tell you there is not one marking on the engine and I wasn't even the original owner I bought the bike used which is hilarious cuz the motor won't die
Right now the clutch started slipping again and I tightened it but it's slipping again cuz mad boils leaking in there so I'm going to have to clean it out with brake cleaner also I think you're subscribed but if you haven't please do that even if you don't watch the video that helps me out thanks dude
What's the longest you can rum the bike in a 24hrs Can you run the bike 4hrs or 3hrs start before it's get hot and let it rest .I want to know so I will not tear up my motor ? Can you drive it all day like a car ?
You definitely can't drive it all day like a car in fact I'm not even sure if you can drive it for more than an hour especially if your bike doesn't run that good because he seemed to have problems all the time
I guess you haven't taken your trip yet if you really are planning on it I would get a bike with a more reliable engine but you can use the same sprocket setup
You seem to have gotten a good old kit! It has me wondering if you were to get a new kit would it last as long?either way good to see ya bud! Stay safe out there!
I just rode it yesterday. Now I only take it for trips like one mile or two miles at the most a couple weeks ago. I took it to pick up weed from the clinic because we have legal marijuana here.
bro thats so cool you got cheap motor to do wot its suppose to do and its still going lol and your running it on 4 stroke oil ha ha, love it wen the motor looks fukd up and dirty like that, good job man.
You should see the video of the upgraded spark plug I put a 250 dirt bike spark plug which is way too big in diameter and length and I cross threaded into the stripped-out head and put it in only halfway so it's not even bottom doubt on the compression washer and it runs good like that it's been like that about 4 or 5 months now. I ride only like 10 miles a week now for the past 9 or 10 months I don't ride as much but I still write it for 5 times a week just for short trips
I’m thinking about building one of these but with a 4 stroke motor cause it’s quieter and more efficient, is there a reason that most people do 2 strokes
As long as you're not planning on riding it everyday then get a four stroke or if you're only going to ride it for like 5 minutes per day the four-stroke is fine but honestly I only know about the cheap four stroke kids maybe they made a better one but if you have to use but a fat crank to clear the motor that is a big No-No those are weak Chinese crank sets that can break easily and it just not comfortable to ride
@@seedlessgrapes2605 I have two of the 49cc four strokes. One is on a Huffy Cranbrook, the other is on an anonymous bike my grandson dragged home. The 4 strokes, though more expensive, have some advantages over the two 66 cc two strokes I did first. Besides the cleaner exhaust, smoother idle and better low end torque, and not having to mix oil and gas, there is the pull start and the centrifugal clutch. These advantages are not without offsets - you don't have to mix oil with the gas, but you do have to check the level and remember to change the oil. You don't have to pedal to start, but you give up the advantage of being able to do an extended cranking time - you get about a second's spin per pull. You don't have to operate the clutch, but then...you can't operate the clutch, to rev up the engine without load. You know, to impress the locals at the stop lights. A fairly happy compromise is the electric start BT-80 two stroke - it's the smoothest but smokiest unit in our little three vehicle, seven wheel fleet. (It's on a trike.) I used my original crank arms on the four strokes - heated and bent them for clearance. May you enjoy many more thousands of miles of safe and economical travels.
Sorry my comment just showed up now will I found it looking through all them it I was never alerted to this I just remove the cover there's four screws and then I used regular drill bit you could probably drill it with the cover on but maybe you'll hit the wires so I would remove it
I know if I made this vidio the bike would fail the next day! So my question is , does it still run? Yours being older, may be made with a better combination of parts!

Also, I've found some of the main crank to clutch sprockets to be out of round. This will cause premature failure of the bearing and a noisy gear set. The only way to check it is with a dial indicator. Replace it if it's bad and make sure the backlash is less than .030"
It really helps to go over the motors before firing it up for the first time. I've found casting slag, dust, grit, and other contaminates inside the motors. Giving them a good clean and fresh oil coating before the first firing up will go a long way to thousands of trouble free miles.
@@tjsogmc you are very smart I also love the rag joint it works really well for me and the sprocket is probably the most important like you're saying for me especially when turning I go pretty far cuz I'm on a motorcycle rider so I have to have it lined up otherwise the chain will come off
It's good to see the same forks that I have holding up because people say not to run them! I have an old late 77 or so AMf and a free spirit but basically theyre the same frame as what you have! Same rims and tires too 26×1 3/8
My tires are 700
But yes, you can put the motor on your bike.
And it will look cool on the AMf
Yo that's so cool that's it's done all those miles and it's still runing!

@@seedlessgrapes2605 I'm not sure whether to get a 2-stroke engine kit or a 4-stroke.
@@tomthefox3365 Look up Phantom bikes where I live. You can buy one brand new for 499 completely turn key built-in gas tank into the frame. They look awesome front suspension good tires and a 4-stroke motor. They're nice.
Yea you can run the bike whitout airfilter and sand can get into there and get throve :D, but that unlucky time when a big enought rock comes in and goes somewhere bad, but cheap engines 👌
Very smart
Yes I totally understand what you're saying I also see your Enduro or your trail bike I've been riding dirt bikes my whole life and street bikes so yes it makes no sense about the dirt getting in there but my biking Canada I ran off road for for 5 years never had that problem I was running a rear fender but still it's just weird they don't suck hard enough or I've been getting really lucky like you said the motors are really cheap anyways but they get so much better power without an air filter it's weird.
I'm sure I could add an aftermarket air filter or a bigger car but I'm one of those people I've never modified not even a boost bottle not even an exhaust I like that they're super cheap and I don't expect much out of it and just ride the hell out of it
U are a very smart guy. Where do u live
No air filter that's a no from me
@@seedlessgrapes2605 When you run without an air filter I'm pretty sure it makes it run more lean. You also have more air flow so it's not choking as much
Glad you are back!

idk whats up with my bike and its pretty much brand new only 6 months old and my carb whent bad so i got another and now it wont give spark so i got a used spark plug from my friend and im going to put it on today. idk how i just loose spark 10 minuets after riding all i did was change brake pads that day
Integgy if your kill switch is still hooked up cut one of the kill switch wires and that will tell you if the kill switch is grounding out and of course make sure your spark plug is good but I'm one of the people that doesn't obsess over spark plugs I've had the same spark plug for 10,000 miles they last a long time but most likely it's your Magneto but try cutting the wire for the kill switch if that doesn't work you can also check the connections where you plug the wires from the Magneto to the coil I always solder those myself just to make sure there's no problems

Dude loved ur vid ride on brother Just built my first one finished tonight gonna fire it tomorrow oh by the way I bought this engine 15years ago lol still in box never used
Awesome
How did it go
I love the fact that you had the engine sitting for 15 years it's probably a good engine from back in the day have you started it up yet?
Yes got about 200 miles on it runs great
@@larryhills8766 awesome you are very lucky that it's an old engine cuz they run much better it's probably a raw motor??
I filed down my throttle cable nubs and stick it into the break lever. I took my air filter off and just put a baby sock over the hole with a zip tie to keep big shit out. The spark plug that came with my kit was bad so I replaced it and it was set. 29in mtn bike from Walmart I replaced the shitty front shock fork with a rigid steel fork. I loved building my bike.
Hell yeah
i recommend removing the exhaust cap from the bottom it makes it a little bit louder but it gives it more power and more torque from bottom end as well
Ive riden mine for over 300 miles mostly on trails like a dirtbike and the only problem I ever had was a gas leak every now and again. I recently hit a tree bent the forks. But i have new forks one thd way cant wait to get back out on it.
Dude riding these on dirt is the most fun especially if you have dirt bike experience there's nothing like these because it's a lot of effort and super Sketchy
The chainring side crank pedal is opposite thread
And.?????
Are you telling me that? Or were you trying to answer someone's question because I would hope everyone knows that I knew that when I was probably four or five years old. I also knew how to patch my own Tire when I was three or four.
Either way, I still appreciate the comment if you haven't already subscribe to go ahead and do that. Thanks, bro.
I built mine never really rode it more then around the neighborhood. Took it downtown 15 miles there and 15 back. Last 4 miles rear rim exploded. I fixed it sorta. I’m hopin it’ll work

Seedless Grape f****** sweet awesome videos man keep them coming from the future I'm pretty new into this motorized bike stuff but do you have a good recommendation for a motor kit that is reliable yes I know you got to do daily maintenance and checking for just a good motor what kind and where at please help
The only thing that happens to my 3-4K bike is it vibrates and breaks the fenders. It always starts and runs like it was made to. Very reliable
Nice!!!! I have the same, but I don't know how many miles I have...
Any links where u got the motor I got two of eBay and both only lasted 600/700 miles each
how many brake pads have you ran through I True through them pretty quickly I have a v brake setup by the way
Can you send me a kit list so I can build this? Wanna build this as my first build, just bought my first bike today and I spent 500$ total 80cc build only goes between 40-60kmh I want a faster one that’s more reliable cause I got a feeling this one won’t last more than a year lol

@@robertsmith5323 the weird thing is the motor doesn't blow up it's the chain that breaks the clutch that has issues the intake will fall off it will have intake leaks the throttle cable will break the clutch cable will break so basically everything except the motor is what you should have brought with you LOL
i luv that GasTank

Where do you get Champion spark from. I am 160 pounds and only go 25. NO 2 STROKE GO 50 AT YOUR WEIGHT
What brand is the engine?
Sadly I couldn't tell you there is not one marking on the engine and I wasn't even the original owner I bought the bike used which is hilarious cuz the motor won't die
Right now the clutch started slipping again and I tightened it but it's slipping again cuz mad boils leaking in there so I'm going to have to clean it out with brake cleaner also I think you're subscribed but if you haven't please do that even if you don't watch the video that helps me out thanks dude
what oil mix do you favor?

I'm not sure. I wonder that myself. I did have a newer kit on my black bike, but I sold it to someone else so I don't know how long it lasted.
I just rode it yesterday. Now I only take it for trips like one mile or two miles at the most a couple weeks ago. I took it to pick up weed from the clinic because we have legal marijuana here.
And it's super loud actually sounds good. Kind of like a two-stroke dirt bike.
bro thats so cool you got cheap motor to do wot its suppose to do and its still going lol and your running it on 4 stroke oil ha ha, love it wen the motor looks fukd up and dirty like that, good job man.
Yup. Lol. And i am EXPERT mechanic. So its very funny
How much BHP it have?
I dont measure my oul anymore either. The stock carbs are the best- they work so much better than the so-called high performance Delorto knock offs.

James Piccone EXACTLY
James Piccone indeed
I’m thinking about building one of these but with a 4 stroke motor cause it’s quieter and more efficient, is there a reason that most people do 2 strokes
Cheaper and smaller
(It's on a trike.)
I used my original crank arms on the four strokes - heated and bent them for clearance. May you enjoy many more thousands of miles of safe and economical travels.
I should have said "original crank arms and shafts" there. Bent the arms, left the shafts alone. S.
hey man, how did you drill the 3 holes in the bottom part of the engine? sorry, i am really new to everything motor wise
Sorry my comment just showed up now will I found it looking through all them it I was never alerted to this I just remove the cover there's four screws and then I used regular drill bit you could probably drill it with the cover on but maybe you'll hit the wires so I would remove it
