- In 1998, Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer Evolution 5 (Evo 5), a car that quickly became known for its impressive performance, rally engineering, and motorsport legacy. It wasn’t just another car, but a key link between the brand’s rally heritage and the future of WRC competition. Building on the foundation of earlier Evo models, the Evo 5 brought noticeable improvements in aerodynamic design, power output, and all-wheel-drive handling. Powered by the iconic 4G63T 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, the car delivered more horsepower and control than many expected, easily surpassing the standard configurations of the time.
Mitsubishi’s goal with the Evo 5 went beyond just creating a fast street car-it was about dominating the World Rally Championship (WRC). And the Evo 5 didn’t disappoint, achieving several WRC victories and cementing its status as a rally legend. Its success on the global stage helped it develop a loyal fanbase, and over the years, the Evo 5 has become a highly sought-after model, with its value increasing among car enthusiasts and collectors.
Despite its success, Mitsubishi decided to end the Evolution series in 2016. Yet, the Evo 5, along with its later models, remains a lasting symbol of the brand's engineering achievements and rally legacy. The Evo 5’s journey may have started in 1998, but its impact is still felt in the car world and among JDM enthusiasts today.

Thanks for watching!
I can't watch this video. From a research standpoint, you did great. But this computer voice is pissing me off. I think if you bought yourself a proper microphone and recorded yourself, it would gain more popularity. Please keep up your work, but I wanted to give you my personal feedback.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep it in mind and work on improving the audio.
I personally love the evo 4 more but still, what a car!
Agree! Evo 4 has its own charm. Thanks for watching!
@@MeisterM3 Thx for making it! XD
I'd have an Evo 6 or 9. The last run of a series is always best. Plus the Australian delivered 9 had a 6 speed. I reckon Evo 10 lost its charm by not having the 4G63
@@ashleymalzard2865 agree on the evo 10, 9 has incredible looks a 6.5 is also a banger!
but man I would love to see the og the Evo 1, never drove it anywhere lol
