I expected a much better presentation, since Saurabh Dwivedi himself studied in JNU, before he went to do his Mass Com from the IIMC. The most characteristic feature of JNU is actually its innovative and advanced vision of higher education, which is not found anywhere else in India and also in many Western Universities. I don't know how much JNU has managed to retain its original vision of education now, but when I studied there, much of it was still intact. First, JNU did not teach from books. We were encouraged to go beyond the books, to critique what was written in the books, to critique what the professors taught and present our own ideas on the issues being taught. We were encouraged to explore the library (this was before the days of Internet), criticise the bibliography that was given to us, look at the books in the library and build our own bibliography. Xeroxing a set of pre-given study material and memorising them was simply not in the vision of JNU education. Innovation, clarity of arguments and critical thinking was in-built in the JNU education. In those days, some professors experimented with the concept of exams as well. Many teachers gave open book tests. There was a professor who asked his students to grade their own papers and defend their grades in class discussion. If they managed to defend their grade, they retained it, otherwise the professor changed their grade. There was another professor who revealed 1 or 2 questions 8-10 days before the exams. These were research-based questions. Students were asked to do research on these questions, prepare their answers and write their research findings in the exams. A third professor asked the students to sit in the library and write their answers. They got time from 9 am to 5 pm. They could consult the books in the library and write their answers. The professor gave them the challenge that no matter how much they consulted the books, they won't be able to pass the exams if they had not attended his classes. And it was really like that. This was because he taught in the class many things based on his own research, which were not mentioned in the books. The students were expected to not only understand the professors' teachings, but to think beyond it, to ask questions about what the professors taught. That is why attendance in classes was almost 100% - not because it was required by the university, but because it was necessary to understand the teachings of the professors. In essence, JNU developed teaching methods which were very advanced and far ahead of their times. It encouraged debates and the culture of asking questions. And this is why JNU was different. I don't know how much of it is left now.

I would like to suggest that you should make a video on Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) which is known for its distinct evaluation criteria among other things but many things are in the air only and it is generally underrated.

In fact, we were taught Marxism not only as a part of philosophical and historical tradition, but we were also asked to develop an academic critique of Marxism. I feel only a serious JNU student can present a comprehensive critique of Marxism, because s/he understands the theory and s/he has gone beyond it to develop a critique of it. Yes, there were some political activists who followed Marxism blindly, but there were many more who seriously debated about the failings of Marxism outside its own times and social context. Following any ideology blindly, without questioning it, was actually antithetical to JNU's vision of higher education. The truth is that the activists who engaged in activities which were questioned were never serious students. They were busy doing politics. The serious students never got the time to engage in such activities, because JNU's workload was very high and the serious students never got the time to think beyond the research and academics.

एक बात बहुत हैरान कर देने वाली होती है नेहरू जी और सभी गांधी जी लोगो ने अपने नाम पर किसी भी संस्थान का नाम रखने का विरोध किया पर अपने पुरजोर विरोध करने के बाद भी उनकी एक नहीं चली और उनके नाम पर ही संस्थानों के नाम रखे गए।

Vo university jo desh ki behatreen university ki list m hamesha top m rhti h. Ji ha vo JNU nhi h vo IISC h. And infact IISC ka level kam se kam 10 guna jyada h JNU se. IISC 1st rank par h university m with score 83 and JNU 2nd par with score 68. Bahut difference h aur ye sachchai h ki IISC k alawa koi achchi university nhi h india m.
IISC competes with IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay. Ye IITs aur IISC every year 400-500 crore k sirf projects karte h including sponsored and consulting project. JNU 4 crore ka bhi nhi karta sab milakar bhi.
JNU ko bolo pehle vo DELHI m hi no.1 ho kar dikhaye fir India ki baat karenge. IIT Delhi is top most institute in Delhi. Overall IIT delhi has score of 82 and JNU has 67.
Pehle apne neighbour se compete kare JNU fir IISC se takkar lega abhi bahut door h aur bahut chhota h IIT Delhi aur IISC ki reputation k samne
IIT engineering education ke hain, IISC science ke hain , JNU arts ke liye best hain , arts ke subject main JNU se aage koi bhi nahi ..issiliye sab ranking alag alag criteria se diya jata hain... university wale criteria pe JNU constantly rank 2 raha hain and bich me kuch saal rank 1 bhi raha hain..

मैनेB. Tech किया हुआ है और उत्तर प्रदेश में B. Techवालों के लिए वैकेंसी न के बराबर आती है जबकि up JE मे बी टेक वाले एलिजिबल नहीं माने जाते हैं जबकि अन्य प्रदेशों में JE में बी टेक एलिजिबल है । माने अन्य प्रदेशों की JE वैकेंसी में बीटेक वाले एग्जाम दे सकते हैं। मेरा आपसे आग्रह है कृपया बी टेक वालो को उत्तर प्रदेश JE मे allow कराने का मुद्दा उठाये....
