New York and the upper east coast in general is super freezing cold in the winter and that can be hard to adjust to. If you are going back to New York, you would want to go in late April or May. May and October is beautiful weather. Culture shock is very well, but you need to know what your getting into before you go and prepare for it. When I went to Mongolia we stayed with a family in the high mountains and they are living in huts. Raw meat was hanging inside the huts (called a Yert or Ger) and when we ate with the family we used our fingers and took food all out of the same bowl. Now believe me, that was culture shock for me!! ha ha I would recommend when you come back, try to see some of the beautiful mountains and national parks. That will be a great experience for you.

But how come vendors back here are overpricing the beauty products so much? Please bring me a large haul! I will send a list lol! East or West, home is best mummy. Love the general information. The food, organic shops will do which is expensive. So the food bit is a downer. Enjoy!
