I don't think I'll ever forget when they performed this. The audience became almost silent at the end when they all sang together. The night was beautiful and warm.. this takes me back to an amazing time in my life 🎶🎶
...BEYOND ANGELIC!!...I had the privilege to see this live, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience!!...they really need to to do another Lilith Fair!!..
Jewel's solo is beautiful, the harmonies are otherworldly and as always Sara is absolute heaven. I am going through alot right now. I keep playing this on repeat and weeping
I went to all 3 years of Lilith Fair. It was one of the best experiences of my life. The music was so damn good. This brings back a core memory for sure.
...I always come here to reclaim my soul!!...I was beyond fortunate enough to be at the Lilith Fair to see this masterpiece live, over 20 years later, I still get CHILLS!!!...(sigh!!)...
It's not just the amazing musicianship and how they all shine individually and come together beautifully, it's also the obvious joy they take in each other's talent. Like others here, it makes me tear up time and time again.
I caught them all at Lilith Fair, so incredibly good. The 90s were a boon time for female artists. I know music tastes change over time, but this is timeless.
One of the performances of the century. Everything is done with inspiration, competence, style and years of practice and experience. This may never be equaled.
She won’t because it was be bad to bring it back. Lilith Fair had the goal of highlighting women artist but ultimately it failed because it turned “women” into a genre. This was BAD for women artists. Signing a female artist became like signing a country singer … and not all labels do country.
Bought the Lilith fair double cd from the record store in Blacksburg when I was in college because I fell in love with this single track as soon as I heard it. Wonderful to be able to see it too!!
This song is the song that started me exploring Lilith Fair, goodness me what an adventure, discovering new ladies to me, including Amy Ray, Emily Salieri, Meredith Brooks et al, I already knew Sheryl Crow, and Sarah McLachlan, phew
two of my fave singers jewel and sarah. both beautiful and both have such an incredible voice!!!! for me these were the times that great music was made. so authentic and beautiful!
The acapella section at the end was incredible. There was no beat or visible director keeping time for them. They just felt the beat and kept time in unison. Great performance. Loved it!
Jewel and Sarah McLauhlan were an exceptional band ....Indigo Girls...I do believe their music will live forever through their voices knowing the female artists are exceptional artists who create songs for you to hear through their words and notes creating beautiful music that is everlasting for you...I am not sure who Cybernatics is but i hope the artists who created the music has access to this information.
WOW! - working on learning this song, I have checked out every available version - there is no doubt this is the best of many excellent and varied approaches. Tears flowing freely. Such passion, such voices, such harmonies. Angels from heaven.
As someone else said, this song has been around for almost 500 years. In that time, the one line that's in almost every version is "love grows old and waxes cold." Jewel sings that line with such pathos, I get chills every time I hear it. I agree with another poster - - this must be what heaven sounds like (at least, I hope so).
I have always loved the woman called: Jewel, grew up as a young teen listening to her talentedness. My teen-hood crush! But no matter what she will always be my girl in my brain's dreams :)
Women speak, sing and share their lyrics to encompass all people to enjoy the inevitable beauty of their songs singing together as women..2020...we are going forward as women to share gifts with others.
Ok...amazing women who speak words through understanding what it is like to be a a woman and to be respected through the arts of trial and efforts...we can oly imagine how difficult it must be to create music and to be honored by our voices and words in silhouttes of of my love and I.
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er And neither I have wings to fly Give me a boat, carry two And both shall row My love and I Love is gentle, love is kind The sweetest flower when first it's new But love grows old and waxes cold And fades away like morning dew There is a ship that sails the sea She's loaded deep as deep can be But not as deep as the love I made I know not how I'll sink or swim The water is wide, I can't cross o'er And neither I have wings to fly Give me a boat that can carry two And both shall row My love and I And both shall row My love and I
I attended this concert because my very bestest friend but us tickets to it as soon as it came out... I had just had a newborn baby... about 7 weeks old... I could not take her with me too young. But my husband Lyn Dame ..knew how important this was to me and Roxx.. and so I left my newborn 7 week old daughter with her dad. Made me crazy but was the best thing ever... Roxx and I had a wonderful needed time.. with some of our idols .. I worried the whole time about my daughter but everything was fine and me and my best friend had the most awesome time. I know she remembers it all too... my boobs leaking and all we weren't letting anything get between us... I love you so much Roxx.. you have no idea... just wanted you to know you are the most awesome parts of my life. You have a peice of my soul girl.
One of my all time favorites. I wish the Lilith Fair had become a yearly thing that lasted forever.
The most glorious version ever!
Yes !
This was the Toronto performance.
I still get goosebumps, my bff and I were holding hands the whole time, in tears at the beauty.
Still getting goosebumps listening to this in 2020. I wish this song would've gone on for hours....... LOVE. Thank you Amy, Emily, Jewel and Sarah.
Goosebumps still in 2022 here.
@@NiMari.
Me too. 🙂
😊
First time hearing it in 2024 and I'm obsessed!! Beautiful song!! ❤
Goosebumps still in 2024 here. Just saw old movie "The River Wild" & finally figured out why I recognized the theme song.
I would have not survived without listening to Jewel 24/7 during my teen years.
Bet you would've.
One of the most beautiful harmonies ever. I listen to it often.
I don't think I'll ever forget when they performed this. The audience became almost silent at the end when they all sang together. The night was beautiful and warm.. this takes me back to an amazing time in my life 🎶🎶
Me too! We were drenched from the day with our arms and head poked thru a trash bag. Wouldnt trade that day for the world💜✌
Nl
...BEYOND ANGELIC!!...I had the privilege to see this live, there wasn't a dry eye in the audience!!...they really need to to do another Lilith Fair!!..
More like Labia Fair LOL! What an oysterfest lol
@@OVI-Wan-Kenobi-8 🤦♀️ Dude. That’s… kinda the point. 😂
For me, the best thing about this performance is how each singer sang in her own way, then came together in harmony.
Jewel's solo is beautiful, the harmonies are otherworldly and as always Sara is absolute heaven. I am going through alot right now. I keep playing this on repeat and weeping

Close your eyes and get lost in the harmony when they are singing the final chorus A capella. This must be what angels sound like 🌸
It's not just the amazing musicianship and how they all shine individually and come together beautifully, it's also the obvious joy they take in each other's talent. Like others here, it makes me tear up time and time again.
Yeah Indigo Girls , Jewell and Sarah . Thank you for this gift. And all the other gifts.
I caught them all at Lilith Fair, so incredibly good. The 90s were a boon time for female artists. I know music tastes change over time, but this is timeless.
Well said! Timeless indeed, listening in 2020.
One of the performances of the century. Everything is done with inspiration, competence, style and years of practice and experience. This may never be equaled.
This song sung by these blessed girls touches something deep inside me....every time......
Good God this is spectacular. Can't believe I just now discovered it.

Tracey, I love your beautiful comment. X
Then Sarah starts singing and elevates it all to the stratosphere......
I used to sing this to my son when he was a baby. Love it so much
im glad to play it cuz nobody else here will. theyre pretty lame here
I come back and watch this every few years. Sarah at the end is vocal gold.
Please, Sarah.... PLEASE BRING BACK LILITH FAIR.
She won’t because it was be bad to bring it back. Lilith Fair had the goal of highlighting women artist but ultimately it failed because it turned “women” into a genre. This was BAD for women artists. Signing a female artist became like signing a country singer … and not all labels do country.
Yes!
Simply transcendent. Magnificently told.
Played this when my son was born 13yrs ago...water birth...peaceful...takes my breath away everytime i listen to it...

Past time!

Pure harmonies, pure beauty... Thank you, ladies.
Just had a craving to hear this again. Happens from time to time. Never disappoints!
Extraordinary, Outstanding, Incredible.
I known that beautiful song for years from all my time spent listening to

Pure bliss !! ❤️❤️❤️
If there ever was another female supergroup after Dolly, Emmylou and Linda then this would be it. The ending harmonies are utter perfection
theres quite a few of them so quit crying
I cry every single time I hear this
That last bit by Sarah......wow. I was blessed to see them all in concert when they came to Chicago.
synchronicity on a breathtaking scale
26 years ago… Where did time go? It sounds like yesterday…
Sarah McLachlan is on a whole different level.
Brought me to tears. Exquisite.
That's the most beautiful music I've ever heard.
two of my fave singers jewel and sarah. both beautiful and both have such an incredible voice!!!! for me these were the times that great music was made. so authentic and beautiful!
Beautiful. They each compliment the others. How wonderful. Thank you
The acapella section at the end was incredible. There was no beat or visible director keeping time for them. They just felt the beat and kept time in unison. Great performance. Loved it!

I remember seeing this live at the Lilith Fair...truly a remarkable and unforgettable experience!!
Such a lovely song done so well, and with such heart.
WOW! - working on learning this song, I have checked out every available version - there is no doubt this is the best of many excellent and varied approaches. Tears flowing freely. Such passion, such voices, such harmonies. Angels from heaven.
I agree. I listened to other versions and this one just soars and moves me the most. Just beautiful.
I usually don't cry at videos... until Jewel sang...and again when Sarah sang.
How have I not heard this until now? That was amazing!!! I'm sitting here trying to work, but the screen got so blurry. Love love love!!!
Good memories. Thanks.
This was a magical time in my life🌟
All four of these beautiful ladies in harmony at the end, , , bliss, really special, especially Sarah there on the high notes.
Wow, just Wow!

The line that gets me is when Sara sings "I'll sink or swim"
If this song isn't on heavens playlist I don't wanna go
Oh how I crave real music these dayz
I have always loved the woman called: Jewel, grew up as a young teen listening to her talentedness. My teen-hood crush! But no matter what she will always be my girl in my brain's dreams :)
Got to meet sarah 5 years ago onstage here in atlanta. She is a sweetheart
My God, just listening to the harmonies from 2:58 on brings tears. Beautiful.
Women speak, sing and share their lyrics to encompass all people to enjoy the inevitable beauty of their songs singing together as women..2020...we are going forward as women to share gifts with others.
I wish I could go back to 1997. That's when my life started to fall apart.
What a lovely collaboration.
One of my all time favorites!
I love the song and they're great at it.
Ok...amazing women who speak words through understanding what it is like to be a a woman and to be respected through the arts of trial and efforts...we can oly imagine how difficult it must be to create music and to be honored by our voices and words in silhouttes of of my love and I.
Just about the prettiest thing I've ever heard.
I love how they're all fans of each other.
Don't know if this is the best version in 400 years that this tune has been around but it is my best version with the best singers.
Go Sarah!! I wish you sing this song again
"Give me a boat that can carry two, and both shall row 'Sweet Enough' and I."
🎵🎶💜🎶🎵
My love and I
We did a Winterguard performance to this when I was HS.
I didn't get it song then, but all these years later I do. 🤟🏾💙
Whoever thought of this combo is a genius.
perfect...... beautiful
No words... for such beauty.
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat, carry two
And both shall row
My love and I
Love is gentle, love is kind
The sweetest flower when first it's new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like morning dew
There is a ship that sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I made
I know not how I'll sink or swim
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row
My love and I
And both shall row
My love and I
We need to return and listen to the hearts singing and our own hearts- it's a part of strengthening the state of this world.
I wish they would. All record an album !
...simply, ANGELIC!!!...
Still get chills on this one all these years later.
OMG So beautiful!!!
Good god. This is what heaven sounds like.

+Art Scott Glad to make your day. Just binge watched Firefly with my wife a week or two ago.
Yes but take Jewel out. She's insipid.
Yeah, sublime. I miss the 90's

Stunningly beautiful harmonies!! The late Steve Goodman does a beautiful version too . . .
...Beyond Beautiful!!...😍
Still watching this awesome performance in 2020!
Sarah, it's time. Lilith Fair Resurgence
1906 Irish Folk. So glad a friend suggested it.
BREATH TAKING . Thank you
I am learning this song on guitar right now, if I ever sound 1% as good as this I will be content.
Beautiful!
Indigo Girls, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan????? That stage is a miracle!!!
