Ashley, your dream job evolution totally has a pattern-- you seem to be attracted to the way things work behind the scenes and the way the environment makes you feel! Cashier: you liked the register and the happy faces Airport baggage: the belt intrigued you and you wanted to understand it Lawyer: even if inspired by a silly-ish movie, it still calls to that behind-the-scenes understanding, that peek under the hood to see how the machine works Skate shop: you loved skating and the way it made you feel, but instead of wishing you were a pro or designing skateboards, you wanted to own the business and know that world from the inside Marketing: as someone in touch with how evoking a certain feeling can affect a brand's influence, it makes sense this felt like a confident choice for you! And now at Wongfu in production, you can get that up close look, get a feel for how things come across, and understand how the details fit into the big picture. I think it's cool. :)
Omg I feel you Ashley! My dream job was also a cashier when I was 6. The cash register fascinated me too and I remember getting my parents to buy me a toy cash register and I would play with it all the time
I also wanted to be a cashier, but not because cash registers fascinated me, but because I thought I got to keep all the money in the cash register. I was not a bright kid... :D
My dream job was to be a manga artist because I was too lazy to animate anime. Now I work as a High school student. Pretty stable job right now, I don't get payed a lot though.
Same. I feel like our talents and hardwork is under appreciated in the workplace. We should go on strike. Although I do like the people at my workplace, just not my boss.
So deep~ I think it was neat when Phil said u need to keep discovering yourself in life, no matter how old u are, and that u really never stop discovering new things u like. I had already been thru so much trying to figure out at least one thing I like as a major in college, and I’m currently trying to be a Business major. It really encouraged me to know that we are all never truly finished discovering. As much as I want to have the perfect major to fit me, it doesn’t have to be a perfect fit, but it can be a jumpstart towards something I want to do in the future. Like an open door. This was a really awesome lunch break I will remember!
I'm starting in college this year and I'm majoring in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Digital Film and Cinema. I've wanted to make films for as long as I can remember, but I nevee wanted to do it in school because, you know, I probably won't make money. And then finally towards the middle of my senior year, after saying that I wanted to be a teacher I decided, you know what? I'm going to do what I love and what I've always wanted to do. I would rather be happy and doing what I love than being miserable and making tons of money. So yeah, hopefully in four years I will be doing my dream job :)
I'm glad you went for what you love and makes you happy. I want to do the same as well except first I have to figure out my passion. Haha. Good luck and hope you reach your dream job!!!
Perhaps what my professor told me would be useful for you. "The doers are ahead of the thinkers." In other words, don't just think about it, do it because those who are already doing it are ahead of those who are thinking of doing it. The motivation comes from just starting.
I wanted to b a nurse My mom said if u wana b a nurse u have to deal with ppls pee n poo So I changed it to teacher I wanted to teach music But my mom being an Asian mom said music has no future so she forced me into math I did go to university studying education n math But then I quit after 1.5 years coz I actually really hate math Moved out of my moms Married my husband without telling her Became a cashier at a restaurant Went to college for medical admin assistant Ended up at the hospital working for a cardiologist Became pregnant 6 years later n quit my job to b a full time mom Full time mom Is not my dream job but I also love my job n I would not trade it for anything in the world
For the longest time, I wanted to be a novelist, and honestly, a part of me still wants that. But I sort of just fell in love with the process of filmmaking. I realized that it's one of my favorite forms of storytelling, because it brings together strong writing and also collaboration with other people, which is what I love about Wong Fu so much. Lol my dream job is to work for Wong Fu :) I love that you guys bring different sets of skills to the table and can make something really incredible
Don't worry! I was the same. But, now I love the career I have. It took me almost 8 years to find out what was my thing. I know the struggle but, just enjoy the ride and you'll get where you're supposed to be. Good luck!
I graduate next month and I don't know what I want to do either! But when I was a teenager, I wanted to be a journalist, then a spy, then a photographer, then a police officer, then a translator, then an air hostess. I just couldn't decide.
For me I looked at all the jobs or hobbies I encountered like when I would go out or when I travelled and imagined if I could see myself doing it for a living. What also helps is to take different classes or programs that show you experience in different jobs to see if you have any interest. But what helped me the most was researching keywords like: works with hands, interacts w/people, flexible schedule, things I want in a job or skills I know im good at, which led me to major in dental hygiene! I had braces for 4 years and later realized i would love to work in that environment. HOWEVER, it takes time, it took me 2 yrs but for some longer so dont rush into anything because you feel stuck :)
Watching Lunch Break makes me so happy :,) Keep it up guys!~ Also, could you guys do close ups of what you guys eat for future vids??? I'm always so curious as to what you's are eating!!!
So, when I was younger, my dream job was to either be an animator or a comic artist. Like, I was so dedicated to being an animator when I was 11, I used to post my animations that I did on MS paint on youtube on my old account. I even remember trying to make my own magical girl fanimation (that's what it was called back in 2007 ish in the community I was in if you wanted to make your anime, fan-animation) and would spend weeks working on magical girl transformations. Oh my youth, always on the computer ;w; Then I discovered manga, and started posting some manga on smackjeeves. And I gotta say, I do like drawing comics a little bit more. I guess it was a good thing because I learned how to use photoshop at a young age (I think I got photoshop elements when I was 11, and was dying to improve. I look back at my middle school artworks sometimes and I'm just in shock sometimes. Makes me wish I hadn't stopped drawing for 2 years, I would've been 10000x better than I am now) Right now, I'm studying gaming and animation (with the hopes of being a concept artist) while trying to get a job at webtoons (as a webcomic artist). So like, wish me luck on getting my dream job! :D
Ahh how crazy! I'm a Civil Engineering major! I love designing bridge prototypes out of balsa wood and I hope to be a part of building an actual bridge one day! But anyways, it's great to see how you guys got to where you are. I love how you guys covered the idea that it's okay to dream to be anything because ultimately and in time you'll end up working at your "real" dream job. Another great Lunch Break episode! :3
Can you guys make a lunch break episode about going for a job that pays well vs going for a job that you feel would be enjoyable but may not pay as much or doesn't have much job growth (ie very competitive or there just isn't many job openings for that specific job) I'm going to college real soon and I want to know about other points of view. I also think it is something that could apply to many people. Thank you! Hope you read this. : )
Honestly Wong Fu is such an inspiration, just seeing them grow as a channel and as film-makers. Ofc I'm never going into film-making (not creative enough AT ALL for that, although I love thinking about it XD ), but sometimes when I'm feeling down I just go on a marathon of old Wong Fu vids, which I even vaguely remember watching from when I was a lot younger. I'm always more determined afterwards, probably cuz I get really inspired seeing all your hard work and the well deserved success. Not sure why I decided to write this comment under this video (seems kinda irrelevant? lol), but I guess I just want to say that maybe you guys aren't necessarily experiencing your dream jobs, but all the Wong Fu team members slay at what they're doing right now
my dream job honestly ever since I started watching your videos 6 years ago was to do what you guys do becasue Phil inspires me in many ways he's my hero. ^^
Dream job as a younger kid: teacher (for a very short time) Current sorta dream job: editor (like books and not film/video) Current job: college student who's confused about what she's doing about the future and what to major in
I find it really encouraging that you guys ended up being in Wongfu and love it even when you never really thought about it because so many times we hear successful stories about how they already know what they want and pursuing it since they're young.
My dream job when I was around 7 was to be an author because I loved telling stories and I was really good at writing, but one of my relatives quickly shot down that idea saying "You won't make any money when you're older. They're not in demand at all." I no longer thought of wanting to be an author, but telling stories and writing were still prominent in my life as I excelled the most in my English and writing classes. Writing came to me in other forms, such as social media, making RUclips videos, and writing blog posts for different startups. Fast forward to now in my post-university life, I'm working as a content marketer for a software company managing their social media, writing blog posts, and executing email campaigns with great written copy. This is my first gig out of university and it's not my favourite experience so far, but I believe that elements from your childhood that you were passionate about can translate into different forms in the future. I don't believe that I'm living my dream job right now, but it's not too late to continue pursuing my passion, right?
About to start university in a month. My dream job has also gone through many changes throughout the years, and is still uncertain, I would say. Back then in primary school, I wanted to be a bus driver, as I always sat near the school bus driver's seat and I was just fascinated as a young boy. Later on, towards middle school grade years, that changed to being a train conductor, or maybe even a railway infrastructure developer, as I found myself doodling whole railway systems on my drawing block when I was bored in class, and designing the railway stations. I then entered a pre-tertiary arts school for 6 years, majoring in music and piano. We still did academics then. It was then when I was exposed to Wong Fu. I had no clear vision of what I wanted to do for the first few years, but when I was exposed to film, and was required to do music composition, I suddenly envisioned myself to be a film composer, alongside John Williams, Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer and Michael Giacchino, to name a few. After working with a French silent film composer on a cine-concert project, I composed a piece for string quartet for live accompaniment to a silent film named "Bliss" (It's on my channel by the way). However, dreams of being a film composer washed away due to 2 factors: 1. I was pretty much a mama's boy, so I wanted to stay locally in Singapore for my further studies, and the conservatory here doesn't have a film music course; 2. I started losing my passion for professional piano playing towards the last few years, and found interest in the Sciences instead. Now, I am about to start university, studying Chemical Engineering. A whole new pathway and definitely a new adventure. :) I would say that my dream job would be to work in the pharmaceutical industry, to develop new process systems that will allow quicker production and dissemination of pharmaceutical products.
my dream job is to work with you guys. i know a lot of people say that but ever since i discovered wong fu, i've thought of a few of my own ideas for some short films. i've even developed a dream of wanting to create my own web series (or even a kdrama since i'm a kpop fan) after watching your guys' like away we happened, when it counts, etc. but i can't really make these videos a reality because of my lack of resources (no crew, no fancy equipment, etc). i've only made videos back in high school for my video production class. if i worked with wong fu, i'd love to be able to share my ideas for short films, lunch breaks, nailed it/failed it games, and other things with you guys and the fans. i have basic experience with cameras and editing but i'm working on developing my skills. i really hope i can work with you guys some day! :)
Me too! Back in 2010/2011ish I got so into Wong Fu I bought a dslr and started writing stories and then I gave up lol I'm moving to their area so I wonder what would happen if I just showed up and asked for a job...
ChelsRen it'd actually be really easy for you to apply for a job with them since you're moving to their area! you should definitely take advantage! :) unlike me because i live up in norcal :(
When I was in grade 7 and 8, I wanted to be a civil engineer when I thought I was so good at math. In grade 9, I decided I wanted to be an interior designer, then in grade 10, I wanted to be in advertising because I was into drawing and creating posters. When I was picking a field for college, I discovered Multimedia Arts and I wanted to be an animator. But as college went by, I fell in love with film making and I realized that what I really wanted to do was to create stories by editing. Now, I'm an editor in the wedding industry and I've never been happier! But really, my dream is to work at Wong Fu!
Sooo.. I'm currently studying media computer sciene.. But I've no clue what I want to do with that. Because I don't want to program all day. I like to do stuff that more creative. But I've no certain idea what this should be. So I'll just have a look which opportunities will show up.. and than I'll choose one I like the most :D And it's interesting to know what your dream jobs have been and where you are know :)
I wanted to be sailor moon in elementary, then an interior designer from playing the sims, then piano teacher cuhs it seemed calm and relaxing. Going to college, I felt the need to have a stable job that would make a lot of money so I decided on becoming a pharmacist just because doctor takes too long. My 4th year of college came and I finally agreed with myself that I hated pharm and I don't really care what are in the pills. I graduated with a BS in chem but I've been wanting to work as an animator for Disney cuhs I've always loved art and drawing. At the same time, I also want to be an architect because I find myself keep coming back to the sims to build houses throughout all these years. Tbh, I think I'm just going to work at some lab first for now with my degree then maybe save up money to study things I actually love to do.
I love your lunch break videos. It gives us a chance to see you guys how you normally act as people and it gives me good laughs hearing what each of you have to say.. HERE'S SOMETHING THAT I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED: Who has it easier? Guys? Or girls?
Elementary: Maid because she always got saved by the hero in novelas, then teacher because I admired them, then lawyer because I loved to argue, then veterinarian because puppies (then I realized pets die too so I changed my dream), then actress because it seemed fun. Middle School: Actress High School: Actress, then journalist because I loved writing and I've always been naturally curious College: Novel writer, then Criminology Journalist, then Advertiser, finally Graphic Designer Life out of college and result: Account Manager at an Ad Agency It feels like my dream job, but I know dreams change.
I wanted to be an animator! When I was in a career transition in my life I got to tour Disney's Imagineering building, and saw how the whole animation process worked, man I was hooked. Fast forward a few years later, while in art school majoring in Illustration, i collected any "The making of..." animation books i can find. Then I realized in these "the making of..." books, i was drawn and amazed at the conceptual part of making an animation, like the concept drawings and concept art and the inspiration it came from. So i shifted and added Fine Arts courses in my curriculum, like portrait, and landscape painting (oil, watercolor), and photography. But i ended up using my Illustration major in advertising and graphic design. Now my dream is to be a children's book illustrator and writer :)
Before I was pursuing a comp sci degree to work with either mainframe programming or networking. Thanks to you guys, I teamed up with a up and coming youtube channel influenced by you guys and Nigahiga. Now I make video ideas to influence other Asian Americans and New Yorkers. Thanks a lot
I wanted to be a painter when I was like 5. And then I wanted to be a paleontologist (still so fascinated with dinosaurs), and then a singer, and then an Egyptologist by age 8. That came from the movie The Mummy with Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz. I wanted to be Rachel Weisz. So now I'm about to graduate from college with an Archaeology major, specifying in Ancient Egypt. BUT I realized it's not my thing. I want to be a photographer. Travel the world. So here I am, 22, and at a total loss. Hooray. 😛
There's a weird, but interesting thing unfolding in my life right now regarding college. I'll be starting my very first college classes next week, and about 6 or 7 weeks ago I would've probably still intended to study film or animation because of my passion for story-telling. For that vocation, I thought those two would be my best options. But then funding became an issue for me, so I found myself applying for a job training program that would pretty much force me to do something I never even really considered before now, which I was mostly fine with, as fine as would can be in that situation. But then I thought about it more and more, realizing how long it would be before I actually started making money from film or animation, and that doesn't account for building audiences, contacts, resources, etc., and I just don't have the luxury. So, I'm now training in an IT program as a means for financial stability and seeking challenge. But this has left my love of story-telling unrequited, except I guess my true love is the *writing* aspect, I just figured I'd *write* TV pilots and movie screenplays. But no, I've regressed back to my desire to write books, which is just as tantalizing to me. Fiction or non-fiction, doesn't really matter, I'd write just about anything that I want to write about. Maybe it doesn't have all the effects directing a show/movie/short might have on an audience, but I am fairly pleased in this focus, and it's something I can definitely work with while I learn to make a living. Almost feels like one of those "It was meant to be" moments, even though I really would have loved to study film or animation. Fairly sad, but mostly excited to see what comes next.
Hi! I've been a long time subscriber and currently have been binge watching older videos. LOL you guys give me life, I seriously love you guys! (especially PHIL). Ok.. anyways, I am currently 20 yrs old and a senior in college. I will be graduating with a psych degree and plan on going even further and getting a PhD in developmental psych to conduct research, specifically with kids who have mental disabilities. Ever since I was in Kindergarten I wanted to work work with kids ages 3-5, coincidently because I would watch the show Kindergarten every morning before school! lol. So I carried that same dream job until my junior/senior year of highschool where I interned at different day cares. Afterwards I was part of college program where I received my associates degree in 11 months and I changed my major to psych. After graduating from that college, I started working as Teacher's assistant at an elementary school for an early childhood aged class (ages 3-5). I wanted to say that doing the things that 5 year old me dreamed of is close to the best feeling in the world! As I mentioned, I discovered psych in college and now dream about working with that and with children. In the end, I love working with kids since of course I am still a kid at heart! I also wanted give a message to everyone who might read this. Follow your dreams even if they seem impossible! I did not give much background about myself, but let us just say that growing up the odds have been against me. ok enough rant. bye. I hope everyone has an amazing day.
I wanted to be a teacher. and then a scientist. but deep down i wanted to be an artist but held back because the stigma surrounding that career. now i'm an animation/illustration student. And i'm heading towards the direction of being a concept artist/illustrator/designer working in the animation or game industry. currently i'm an intern as a designer at a major company. and you guys are a major part of my inspiration to pursue the arts, so thank you!
I wanted to write music for movies but didn't work out. But now I'm loving making cooking videos with my son. :) pretty much fun all the time and nice to have it filmed.
I just started my internship search for 2017, and watching this video made me realize (or re-realize..) that I should probably try and do what I find is enjoyable because later on I might change my mind on what I want to do since that's what a lot of people tend to do as we grow. Of course, if I can't find something I enjoy after seacrhing and applying through a few internships then I'll just do whatever to get the experience at least. The last video I commented on was on Phil's speech, and I said I was in the process of finding my passion. Starting with finding an internship has helped narrow down some things for me, and I hope eventually I can find something I enjoy, and then find other things I want to do after the internship. Ok, yeah. Good plan, Mana. where am i
I wanted to be an animal trainer, veterinarian, and animator when I was a kid. I just finished college with biology and film studies so now I'm lookingat zoo keeping and editing jobs! My dream job might legit change to working at Wong Fu, though, like a ton of people that have commented so far
I'm doing my tertiary studies in biomedicine now. Growing up I wanted to be a postman (still want to, at least one day before I die), then I wanted to be a teacher because I like to mark exam papers with the important RED PEN and then I wanted to be a cashier because I loved the sound of the scanning. Then ballet dancer (asian society = was told no future, so I quit), wanted to be a musician (but looked at all the other talent in the world and realized I have 0 talent), wanted to be an artist (but my brothers an architect and also is very good at art so you see where my self esteem went :') ) Then all the doctor shows happened and I am on a path to possibly becoming a doctor/ working in the health sector (but I am wavering), or a teacher (cliché but because of all the people who have impacted me) or a research scientist. But the dream is to be a full time Mom but still be able to get back to doing what I want to do after kids grow up. Hahahah oh and I work part-time as an usher at the theatre (got paid to watch backstreet boys perform for free etc etc. and also Yiruma, The Piano Guys etc, satisfying my love for music) and also at a kids indoor playground now, playing with kids and doing face and hand painting, art and crafts, hosting parties and cashiering - being able to fulfil little parts of my past dream jobs. But the postman is still on the bucket list.
I resent the assumption that all girls wanted to be princesses. As a child I wanted to be an archaeologist because I learned about the ancient Egyptians (just like anyone who learned about the grave robbers in Tutankhamon's tomb, amirite?). I also wanted to be a historian after watching the Anastasia movie, then going to my school's library and researching how historically inaccurate it is! I just finished my master's in psychology, and I'd love to be an advisor on using psychological research in policies etc.
My dream job is the same as my hopeful job to be. Since 7 I wanted to be a Veterinarian, and I was studying abroad at a Vet School but ended up diverging to complete my master's since I ended up getting interested in anatomy/clinical pathology. Then after I completed my master's I wanted to go into work with my MSc first then continue as a vet student in the states, due to some family/personal problems, but found out I wouldn't be able to work as a Clinical Pathologist, until I can complete my licensing, which I can't complete/take the exam for until I finish Vet school..so yeah, currently trying to get back into Vet school to hopefully be a Vet that specializes. On the side I was interested in quite a bit of other areas which were pretty random but that's been like my main priority.
I wanted to be a teacher, mainly because I was in primary school and thought that being a teacher was a only job haha. Growing up didn't really thought about what I wanted to be till I reached my final year of HS. Now slowly having a business (never in a millions year thought I would) with a few classmates, as a illustrator/artist for games and others creative stuff. Noted that I love to draw and started when I was in 3rd grade :)
I am really glad I watched this because it showed me how much your dream jobs can change. I would like to work at Google as of right now. Great video today!!! 😊
When I was a kid I wanted to be a math teacher. Then when I was in 5th or 6th grade I had to do a project that involved designing and building a bridge out of toothpicks (and my bridge was able to support more weight than anybody else's). I really enjoyed that project so then I decided I wanted to be a civil engineer. When I got to college I realized wasn't into the traditional college setting (lecture for hours and not a lot of hands on learning). Now I'm at a technical school working towards getting my Esthetics license and I should have it by the end of the year!
Ever since I was little, my only dream job was to be a Vet. I went to college to get a degree in Animal Science but by my junior year I realized it wasn't for me (lost the passion, my grades weren't competitive enough, etc.), but I didn't know what else I wanted to do so I stuck with it and got my degree. Now I work at Bruegger's bagels (a restaurant) trying to find a different job while toying with the idea of going back to school to become an interpreter (I love learning languages and trying to understand the art of communication). Life is funny sometimes . . .
My dream job in grade school was to be a marine biologist! I also wanted to invent a dog-washing machine that would give dogs baths. I still have the drawing tucked away somewhere. Now, I teach English at a cram school in Taiwan, and am preparing swim classes for another school in the chance that they hire me to teach youngsters how to swim. Teaching isn't my dream job, but I certainly love my munchkins. I've no clue where life will take me, but exploring Taiwan and learning Chinese along the way, whilst teaching and prepping a swim curriculum, it's rather exciting. Adventures await! :D
I wanted to be a doctor until around 11 and realized how long it would take so I switched to nursing. Now I'm in college contemplating communications or nursing or dropping out :-)! The things college does to you!!!!
funny how my friends and I were just talking about this....i wanted to be a doctor when i was young.... then it was fashion designer, and then around high school time it was lawyer ( also thanks to legally blonde for the spark also) ... now I'm a realtor, and i'm definitely happy with my choice!!
As a kid it was always between artist, singer, and vet. I don't remember which order these came to be, because those were always my interests. I was always singing and drawing and loved animals. As I got older, being a vet seemed more attainable, but then I didn't like the thought of potentially needing to perform surgery or anything on them. So then fast forward to highschool I was in an art magnet program and wanted to be a graphic designer. Then college recruiters would come and I wanted to go to school to be an animator (because cartoons are cool). I then majored in animation in CalArts film/video. We would make shorts every year so I went from wanting to be in visual development, then storyboard artist, then animator for Disney. I am now an artist for a slot machine company where I create and animate the art. So all pretty much art driven! haha
My dream job was to work for UNICEF.. help kids and travel the world. Funny thing, I took up Psychology, currently taking my masters, currently taking an internship at a child therapy center. Finally where I'm supposed to be, but still COMPLETELY unsure if I still want it. Does that sound messed up? Getting what I want but sort of not wanting it anymore? :/ but, still happy that I got here. Right now I'm kind of drifting off. I wanted to do something with the media.. like filming as well. Even got into some fashion stuff and business. How do you go through life? lol! such a lost puppy!! I guess we just can't give up.
Just one random outlier :P children's author & illustrator (elementary school) -> librarian (junior high school) -> forensic pathologist (coroner, high school) -> high school teacher (university)
Not in any particular order, but wanted to be a video game developer, pharmacist, and car mechanic. Started working as valet dispatch to valet attendant to Subaru dealership technician. Afterwards finally got a manufacturing engineer job for automotive aftermarket parts manufacturer and recently became a mechanical engineer for another firm. Have plans for getting a Masters in automotive engineering in hoping to one day work for a large automotive firm such as Toyota or Ford at their major engineering locations. Never stop dreaming!
Phil: "He has a worksheet where he wrote that." ~ Is this the student motivation information form from the video "Nerf and 6th graders - Video Blog 6"?
My first dream job was children's nurse (in a daycare center). Then, when I grew up I thought I should set my goal somewhere higher. I had many options... allthough, I always thought, I had no chance of getting to university. But surprisingly (for myself), I still did! And now I'm a kindergarten teacher. Kind of the same, but still not quite. It is like I started with one thing, tried to chance it and ended up with almost the same. But I couldn't be happier with how things turned out! :)
Thank goodness we found each other!
Ashley, your dream job evolution totally has a pattern-- you seem to be attracted to the way things work behind the scenes and the way the environment makes you feel!
Cashier: you liked the register and the happy faces
Airport baggage: the belt intrigued you and you wanted to understand it
Lawyer: even if inspired by a silly-ish movie, it still calls to that behind-the-scenes understanding, that peek under the hood to see how the machine works
Skate shop: you loved skating and the way it made you feel, but instead of wishing you were a pro or designing skateboards, you wanted to own the business and know that world from the inside
Marketing: as someone in touch with how evoking a certain feeling can affect a brand's influence, it makes sense this felt like a confident choice for you!
And now at Wongfu in production, you can get that up close look, get a feel for how things come across, and understand how the details fit into the big picture.
I think it's cool. :)
Whoa, this is such an interesting viewpoint! 😄🙌🏼
My dream job is to work at Wongfu!
same 😂
Dreams don't always go as planned.
* Ends up at JKFilms *
Legit. I'll move to LA (wait where are you guys?) to work at Wong Fu ;_;

Omg I feel you Ashley! My dream job was also a cashier when I was 6. The cash register fascinated me too and I remember getting my parents to buy me a toy cash register and I would play with it all the time
Riiight?? Totally normal 😄👍🏽
I also wanted to be a cashier, but not because cash registers fascinated me, but because I thought I got to keep all the money in the cash register. I was not a bright kid... :D
My dream job is to work at Wong fu ;_; hire me pls
Me too! 💻
Same
I volunteer as tribute 🙋🏽🙋🏽
yaaaaas! me too
Me too! #wongfu4life
My dream job was to be a manga artist because I was too lazy to animate anime. Now I work as a High school student. Pretty stable job right now, I don't get payed a lot though.
Same. I feel like our talents and hardwork is under appreciated in the workplace. We should go on strike.
Although I do like the people at my workplace, just not my boss.
Im in pretty much the same situation, have a job as a high school student, but I want to be an animator director ._. I agree with you on the pay
Me too 😪
still work to be a manga artist :)
Same.
Everytime I hear Ted's voice saying 'MORE!'... There's a part of me that dies. I miss Ted.
Did anyone else notice Taylor's struggle with his rice? No? Ok. Cool.. 😬
shhhh 😶
+Taylor Chan no one notice because I had to watch the video again because she said it
Taylor apparently has secret that includes rice.
+Haykal Mukhriz i did not see it lol
Good for you! I'd rather continue doing what I love than have a job just for the money
nothing wrong with exploring and discovering what you want to do
Perhaps what my professor told me would be useful for you. "The doers are ahead of the thinkers." In other words, don't just think about it, do it because those who are already doing it are ahead of those who are thinking of doing it. The motivation comes from just starting.
Dream job nurse.... Current job nurse. Living the dream :D
Same for me with translation ☺️
cool what kind of nurse?
whoa same here!
niceeeeeee :) Good for you. How's it like? I was interested in that area for a while........decided to go with designing tho
I wanted to b a nurse
My mom said if u wana b a nurse u have to deal with ppls pee n poo
So I changed it to teacher
I wanted to teach music
But my mom being an Asian mom said music has no future so she forced me into math
I did go to university studying education n math
But then I quit after 1.5 years coz I actually really hate math
Moved out of my moms
Married my husband without telling her
Became a cashier at a restaurant
Went to college for medical admin assistant
Ended up at the hospital working for a cardiologist
Became pregnant 6 years later n quit my job to b a full time mom
Full time mom Is not my dream job but I also love my job n I would not trade it for anything in the world
k
well it depends on the type of nurse
cool
For the longest time, I wanted to be a novelist, and honestly, a part of me still wants that. But I sort of just fell in love with the process of filmmaking. I realized that it's one of my favorite forms of storytelling, because it brings together strong writing and also collaboration with other people, which is what I love about Wong Fu so much.
Lol my dream job is to work for Wong Fu :) I love that you guys bring different sets of skills to the table and can make something really incredible
Mine was paleontologist too Wes! Jurassic Park and also Godzilla were my inspiration
Should we still go for it??
Mine was also paleontologist when I was young. Loved dinosaurs a lot.
+Wesley Chan you'll be like Ross from 'Friends'
I'm in college right now and I don't know what to do at all!! Honestly I just don't even know rather than struggling to decide :(
Don't worry! I was the same. But, now I love the career I have. It took me almost 8 years to find out what was my thing. I know the struggle but, just enjoy the ride and you'll get where you're supposed to be. Good luck!
Take your time in discovering what you want to be... Take your time BUT don't waste a single sec of it.
+Hello Tali! Police officer. Me too. ✋
Watching Lunch Break makes me so happy :,) Keep it up guys!~
Also, could you guys do close ups of what you guys eat for future vids???
I'm always so curious as to what you's are eating!!!
Ashley: I wanted to be a cashier at walmart
Taylor: Ooo Shooting for the stars!
So, when I was younger, my dream job was to either be an animator or a comic artist.
Like, I was so dedicated to being an animator when I was 11, I used to post my animations that I did on MS paint on youtube on my old account. I even remember trying to make my own magical girl fanimation (that's what it was called back in 2007 ish in the community I was in if you wanted to make your anime, fan-animation) and would spend weeks working on magical girl transformations. Oh my youth, always on the computer ;w;
Then I discovered manga, and started posting some manga on smackjeeves. And I gotta say, I do like drawing comics a little bit more. I guess it was a good thing because I learned how to use photoshop at a young age (I think I got photoshop elements when I was 11, and was dying to improve. I look back at my middle school artworks sometimes and I'm just in shock sometimes. Makes me wish I hadn't stopped drawing for 2 years, I would've been 10000x better than I am now)
Right now, I'm studying gaming and animation (with the hopes of being a concept artist) while trying to get a job at webtoons (as a webcomic artist).
When i was 5, i wanted to be a teacher. Now im a teacher and know how crazy our job can be! Respect for all teachers!
Not sure why I decided to write this comment under this video (seems kinda irrelevant? lol), but I guess I just want to say that maybe you guys aren't necessarily experiencing your dream jobs, but all the Wong Fu team members slay at what they're doing right now
GABAGE MAN!?! GABAGE START WITH A G
I'm glad someone still remembers this lol
Chonny?
+PuncakeHieu A stand for a doctor, a lawyer, a dentist! XD
I know that and I can't even spell garbage...
ayy throwback
Wes!!!
Hi!!!
my dream job honestly ever since I started watching your videos 6 years ago was to do what you guys do becasue Phil inspires me in many ways he's my hero. ^^
because *
+More Wong Fu you should do a failed it on making Musical.ly
Dream job as a younger kid: teacher (for a very short time)
Current sorta dream job: editor (like books and not film/video)
Current job: college student who's confused about what she's doing about the future and what to major in
I find it really encouraging that you guys ended up being in Wongfu and love it even when you never really thought about it because so many times we hear successful stories about how they already know what they want and pursuing it since they're young.
My dream job when I was around 7 was to be an author because I loved telling stories and I was really good at writing, but one of my relatives quickly shot down that idea saying "You won't make any money when you're older. They're not in demand at all."
I no longer thought of wanting to be an author, but telling stories and writing were still prominent in my life as I excelled the most in my English and writing classes.
Wes looks clueless a majority of the time but then he speaks and you just like wow!
I always wanted to be a chef.. hopefully it will come soon this August. wish me luck.
Wes ... having a worksheet like the ones they answered questions such as their blog What's for dinner? - Video Blog 7? Those were fun to watch lol. :)
Love the play quote!!!!!!!!! Yaaaaas true. Dream was to be a fashion designer- currently a figure skating coach & retail worker
my dream job is to work with you guys. i know a lot of people say that but ever since i discovered wong fu, i've thought of a few of my own ideas for some short films. i've even developed a dream of wanting to create my own web series (or even a kdrama since i'm a kpop fan) after watching your guys' like away we happened, when it counts, etc. but i can't really make these videos a reality because of my lack of resources (no crew, no fancy equipment, etc). i've only made videos back in high school for my video production class. if i worked with wong fu, i'd love to be able to share my ideas for short films, lunch breaks, nailed it/failed it games, and other things with you guys and the fans. i have basic experience with cameras and editing but i'm working on developing my skills. i really hope i can work with you guys some day! :)
:) unlike me because i live up in norcal :(
The thumbnail picture with Wes tho😂😂
So I'll just have a look which opportunities will show up.. and than I'll choose one I like the most :D
And it's interesting to know what your dream jobs have been and where you are know :)
I feel your pain Taylor. 3 years ago I took the same exact type of class in my high school. Pressing each slide for the powerpoint was such a pain
I wanted to be a lawyer cuz of Phoenix Wright. For like the entirety of 7th grade, I ran around yelling "OBJECTION!"
HERE'S SOMETHING THAT I'VE ALWAYS WONDERED:
Who has it easier? Guys? Or girls?
When Taylor went for a group hug and Phil's face is just.. priceless.
Phil's face during the hug was priceless.
When I was younger I wanted to be a teacher so I could use stamps and stickers on my student's work....😂😂
Elementary: Maid because she always got saved by the hero in novelas, then teacher because I admired them, then lawyer because I loved to argue, then veterinarian because puppies (then I realized pets die too so I changed my dream), then actress because it seemed fun.
Middle School: Actress
High School: Actress, then journalist because I loved writing and I've always been naturally curious
College: Novel writer, then Criminology Journalist, then Advertiser, finally Graphic Designer
Life out of college and result: Account Manager at an Ad Agency
It feels like my dream job, but I know dreams change.
Hooray. 😛
dream job to work with wongfu productions!
Phil!!!!! You are now finally officially able to grow stubble and look good and it's not even patchy! You should be proud!
I love you guys so much :') Thanks for always brightening up my day!
There is no dream job. Only your dream. Your dream is never too big to give up on. Chase it with all your heart. Here's to the ones who dream.
Love seeing this series :)
As Phil pointed out, whatever everyone's past dreams, I'm just glad the Wong Fu gang are together on RUclips making me smile. Thanks guys. And girls.
Wes' career path before middle school sounds like fun :) I went from childrens book illustrator to dreaming of graduating as a conflict analyst..
I think so too :D
Then ballet dancer (asian society = was told no future, so I quit), wanted to be a musician (but looked at all the other talent in the world and realized I have 0 talent), wanted to be an artist (but my brothers an architect and also is very good at art so you see where my self esteem went :') )
Then all the doctor shows happened and I am on a path to possibly becoming a doctor/ working in the health sector (but I am wavering), or a teacher (cliché but because of all the people who have impacted me) or a research scientist. But the dream is to be a full time Mom but still be able to get back to doing what I want to do after kids grow up.
Hahahah oh and I work part-time as an usher at the theatre (got paid to watch backstreet boys perform for free etc etc. and also Yiruma, The Piano Guys etc, satisfying my love for music)
and also at a kids indoor playground now, playing with kids and doing face and hand painting, art and crafts, hosting parties and cashiering - being able to fulfil little parts of my past dream jobs. But the postman is still on the bucket list.
I love the quote that Phil said at the end!
Oh my gawd Phill with the moustache!?!?
Aww Wes wanted to be a dragonfly :3
That is awesome! I hope you guys do well ^_^
Thank you for the kind comment! :D
I am really glad I watched this because it showed me how much your dream jobs can change. I would like to work at Google as of right now. Great video today!!! 😊
Baby Wes wanting to be a dragonfly is one of the cutest things ever
Life is funny sometimes . . .
dream job: cashier at our local grocery (same as Ashley's!!!😂)
actual job: multi sport event organizer 😃
Actual job is not shabby 😊👍🏽
+Ashley Matsunami Thanks!:) you too! ;)
came here immediately after getting a notification! Notification squad! Squad squad squad! ^^
Journalist - lawyer - clueless and then a digital marketer. Finally I am a digital marketer
lunch time inspo for a new short!
Everytime I look at Phil i always think he's a dad he just looks like a dad
Just when I'm about to go to sleep... Lunch Break comes up.
Wong Fu does it again!
I did the PowerPoint animation too!! Whoo for basic computer class.
My dream job is to work with Wong Fu I absolutely love what you do it also seems really fun and there seems to be a nice environment😍😌
Dream job: archaeologist
Actual job: staff accountant
I went through the astronaut phrase as well! I'm pretty sure some of it is still inside me.
I wanted to be a doctor until around 11 and realized how long it would take so I switched to nursing. Now I'm in college contemplating communications or nursing or dropping out :-)! The things college does to you!!!!
Be a nurse. The prospect is good with multiple possible path for you to take
funny how my friends and I were just talking about this....i wanted to be a doctor when i was young.... then it was fashion designer, and then around high school time it was lawyer ( also thanks to legally blonde for the spark also) ... now I'm a realtor, and i'm definitely happy with my choice!!
Ashely: "Wait, why a dragonfly?"
Wes: "They look cool... And fly.. And they have a cool name."
This was the most adorable thing ever, Wes. :3
i rmb in funemployed you had that animaniacs scene with kina, it all makes sense
The robot characters Wes describes, I hope WFP makes a short about that. An animated short.
Or a limited time Awkward Robot idk
Scrofar omg I would totally get an awkward robot Wong fu pls make it happen
We need an awkward robot!!!!
Just one random outlier :P
children's author & illustrator (elementary school) -> librarian (junior high school) -> forensic pathologist (coroner, high school) -> high school teacher (university)
i had to do a powerpoint animation of the movie E.T. in middle school!
it was my nightmare.
I thought this was a very meaningful lunchbreak. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! :)
