Kenya blocking LGBTQ+ refugee claims, UN says

  • The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says Kenya is blocking LGBTQ+ asylum seekers from the refugee status they need to work or be resettled to Canada. Ibrahim Kazibwe, who runs a safehouse in Nairobi, says this has barred people identifying as gender and sexual minorities from work opportunities. (Dec. 6, 2024)
