  • This video will show you how you can use an old Raspberry Pi 3, Model B as a network wide TV Streaming device. This video will show you the TVheadend system and go into a little bit of detail about the frequency files used by your USB TV Tuning card.
For this project, I would recommend an Aver Media TV Tuning card - As I'me experienced with them - however, any card you find on eBay/Amazon is liking to do the trick provided it's a DVB-T and not an American standard TV Tuning card.

What if you want to do transcoding? I’m guessing the raspberry pi doesn’t have hardware accelerated media encoding?

Hi, i know its an old post but i hope you still check it.. Did 1 tuner can be use for several client? for example i setup dvbhat on my Rpi4, and i use phone, android box, pc etc to watch a different channel at the same time.

You can use one Tuner to watch two channels if they are on the same frequency. I.e. in Aus we have 7 which is on one frequency and 7Two is also on the same frequency - Separate devices can watch separate channels in that case. However, I would be unable to watch 7 and say 9 at the same time as they are different frequencies. If you get Two TV Tuners, this would likely be enough to allow different viewing. RPI4 should should 2 streams without an issue - My Pi3 supports 2 streams to different devices - But that's with one TV tuner - So, it is on the same frequency.

You can use the Xbox one USB tuners they're quite inexpensive, now you can pick one up for about £5 .
