Can't thank you enough for this video. I'm a student and smashed my A20e last week - would have cost me £105 to get it repaired but I saved £70 by replacing the screen in my uni bedroom. Didn't have isopropyl alcohol so I used my flatmate's vodka; my phone will smell of Aldi vodka when opened up but that's the only downside. Everything else went perfectly. The well-explained instructions and calm attitude did wonders in guiding me through what was quite a nerve-wracking thing to do for the first time, but I'm going to go my whole life not wasting money on screen repairs. Yes I would have solved the problem by not dropping it in the first place but these things happen and I'm glad I came here when it did
I've been putting off a replacement for months and tonight my phone screen finally kicked the bucket. Thank you very much for the helpful video! My replacement seems to be working perfectly. I'll have to make a call tomorrow to test the ear speaker.
@Richard Meza Could you provide a link to that "red clear tape" you used? Also what thickness was it (is 5mm too thick? Do I need to get 2mm?)? I'm finding tape that looks like that all over the place, but all different brands and thicknesses. Also, do you think I could get away with using a hair dryer instead of a heat gun for this?
The A20 has a plastic back. I get the 5mm tape. I get it on Ebay. The red tape is stronger then those other tapes you see. Hair dryer should be fine. As for the battery, I use a little isopropyl alcohol to get the battery out much easier.
@@RichardMeza Is this the right tape: www.amazon.com/Double-Strong-Adhesive-Acrylic-Screen/dp/B019OQ4YX4/ Just trying to be doubly sure I'm getting the right stuff, as this will be my first repair on a phone that needs more than a screwdriver and a pry tool. Yeah same here.. when I receive or make a call I can't hear anything but they can hear me so i need to put it on speaker or use headphones with a microphone. I use heat to warm up the adhesive so the battery can come out easier. I also use alcohol. I think 70% should be fine. Just pry up the battery a little bit and get alcohol underneath the battery. It should come out. Ofcourse I have more experience doing it so it's much easier for me.
