    What I love about this particular episode is that it shows how parallel Zuko and Aang are in terms of their character growth. They both needed to learn how to step out of their comfort zones and deal with their biggest obstacles head on. It's even more brilliant when you realize that Zuko is a descendant of Aang's past incarnation, so doing "Avatar stuff" is only natural for Zuko because he was Roku's great-grandson. I love this show!

    I love how balance is so incorporated into Avatar. The avatar is all about balance and all the four nations are supposed to be balanced. Neutral Jing is the balance of positive and negative. Avatar is one of those series that may be fictional but its internal aspects also help us in our own lives if we start to think about it more deeply.

    Wow... I never considered the fact that Zuko in the Beach episode was not only angry about not "doing the right thing" (his conscience telling him he should've sided with Aang when battling in the caves), but also the lack of healthy redirection of his long-seated shame in rejection from his family. Great explanation and vid!

    It miggt led that to her metalbending.
    And her earthbending is lirerally cpnnecting. MaBeshelearned too from the group to well adapt, be creative like sokka, listen to zuko ironically patiently when everyones mad at him.
    Even her metalbending comes to staying calm, thinking and adapt. Which start toph, unlikely.
    And that aang cant avoid defending what he cares.and zukos indecisiveness and pemotional trumoil hindering him.

    The analysis of each nation's typical character is challenged by Korra - rather than the "accept and reshape" of water, her default mode of operation is to confront and attack - a mix of earth and fire, despite being from the water tribe.

    • @5x5Takes
      @5x5Takes 3 года назад +2

      korras interesting while i still think she embodies the water tribe traits of community and love, she has a hard time with change sometimes. maybe its because she’s been bending earth and fire nearly as long as water? who knows but i agree

    • @rmsgrey
      @rmsgrey 3 года назад +1

      @@5x5Takes I agree that it's not a complete contradiction - which is why I said "is challenged" rather than something stronger - but one of the major aspects of the two Avatars is that, where Aang's story is firmly rooted in exploring and restoring the status quo, establishing the world as it has been for generations, Korra's story is all about challenging that generational wisdom, upending the status quo, and resetting ten thousand years of tradition to find a new balance.
      Aang's quest is to fulfil his traditional role as keeper of the world's balance - trying to learn the abilities required, and find the strength and courage to take on the burden. Korra's quest is to figure out what the Avatar's role even is in the new world of Republic City that was founded by Aang, but has developed for almost two decades without an Avatar's guidance. In the first season, the traditional dominance of benders is challenged, culminating in a non-bending president; in the second season, Korra literally presides over the end of an Age and the breaking of the line of Avatars - she's the last of the line of Avatar Wan, and presumably the first of the line of Avatar Korra, though no-one's entirely sure how things will work for the new cycle. And the final season starts with Korra questioning whether she can or should even be the Avatar again.
      Korra's whole story is reacting against the status quo established and explored by Aang's story, so it's fitting that her very character challenges the ancient wisdom, even as she fits in with it in her own way.

    • @_somerandomguyontheinternet_
      @_somerandomguyontheinternet_ 3 года назад

      @@5x5Takes that’s why the element she has the most trouble with is air: she defaults to confronting things head-on. She’s obstinate, decisive, and headstrong, which, while good in doses, can also get her into trouble - as it often does. She’s practically the opposite of Aang in some ways.

    I think, on my best days, I'd be a firebender, but a firebender like Iroh. The kind that realizes that volcanoes have tides just like the oceans do. And I realize that lavabending is an earthbender skill but like... while I don't face my problems head-on like an earthbender, I can be just as unyielding when I really want to get something done. I think the key there is the desire aspect - *when* I have the will to get things done (which is pretty frequent) I do. But when I don't I tend to burn myself out.
    I am one of those people who thinks bending type can tell you a LOT about a person... so long as that person tells you *why.* :D
