- Moms Explain: Welcome to our new series where we will explain some of life's toughest, awkward, embarrassing, taboo questions, to our inquisitive but mature daughter.
We are Ebony and Denise, a two-mom family with three kids; Olivia, Jayden & Lucas. Denise and I have been together for 12 years and married for 8 years. We love recording family-friendly videos and sharing our lives with the world.
We hope to inspire, inform and connect with people who can relate to our story and might consider sharing their own story of “coming out.” Coming out is a journey of self-acceptance, and we hope to inspire the courage in our viewers to be authentically who they are. We would like for our viewers to realize that the life they envision living is in fact possible. That having a partner, career, and family is possible in spite of being stigmatized by society.

I love this idea, I think it is a great idea. She will learn so much and understand. Olivia will be respectful, caring and compassionate of so many things when she becomes adult, because her mom's taught her at a young age. Plus age appropriate conversations. You 2 are GREAT MOMS

Aww the metaphor of the heartbox and connecting the heart with the mind is SO GOOD. So accurate. We all know that feeling. I also had feelings for girls growing up that I didn't have the vocabulary to define. It wasn't until college for me too that I fully realized I'm a lesbian

I think all children need these basic societal concepts to them, but I think it is especially important for children who would face more societal obstacles to understand them. Y'all are doing a great job and I'm looking forward to more episodes!

It can be so difficult to know how to talk to children about these things. You guys are awesome and an inspiration to me and my wife. We have two daughters two and four. When they start physically going to school, I'm concerned about the kids that only think it's normal to have a dad and mom. Does Olivia get teased? We are in Jersey and we are hoping that people in this area will be accepting but you know how that goes. Also, how does it work with other parents? It's really hard for us to make friends with other parents because the husbands sometimes act weird and we don't have any lesbian friends. So, socially at school functions and all that jazz, how do you guys cope? Thanks for all the awesome videos, we love your fam! =)

Also - I’m transgender female to male, and the way I explain that to kids is I’m a boy, but when I was born and growing up people thought I was a girl. Then I took medicine to change my body to make me look more like the other boys and make me feel more comfortable. 😊

We are a biracial lesbian couple. You give us so much hope and strength❤️ What would you say to your child if they ask you about their difference in skin tone. We don’t know what kind of donor we will use yet. But we want something in between us because we would like to have the same donor. The baby I will be carrying will have a darker skin tone then the baby my wife will be carrying. Did the kids ever ask you about their skin colour? Or isn’t this even a topic we should be worried about.
Also how do you prepare oliva for racism in the future? The boys will probably have less “hate” towards them because of their skin colour.
