Genuine question for you Eskay, because I really enjoy your content and how you approach the game/improving. Mindset/Mental has become one of the most common buzzwords lately, both in game and out, but it's exclusively from people who are already successful and performing at the highest ranks of whatever they're doing (in this case OW). What advice would you give people who generally try to stay positive and focus on their own improvement but still remain stuck in the lowest ranks? I've been playing OW for six years, I've put a lot of time into learning the game and trying to improve (Including VOD reviews from higher ranked players), and even those few matches where I know my teammates are the problem I still try to look at how I could have done better, yet to this day I am hard stuck gold. At what point do you differentiate between staying positive and just banging your head against a wall? Is there a point where someone has to say, "Yeah, I kinda just suck and should probably do something else?" Because that's what I feel lately.
im with u, the lower ranks are just so saturated that you either have to make a new account if your hardstuck and try ranking that up bc your elo is just so cemented (even tho that sucks bc… skins lmao) OR you just have to keep fighting 👊😔
For me, if I feel like I'm tilting, I ask myself why, and try to address that problem specifically. I'm high plat after only playing the game on and off due to school/work. Are my teammates flaming me? Mute them, and then ask yourself, what can I actually do here? Getting stomped by a counter swap? Ask yourself if there is a specific adjustment you can make, or if you should just swap off. Feeling bad because you had a shitty day? Maybe take a break.
I don't really play much comp so take this as you will Are you enjoying the game? Are you playing because you like the game or are you playing because you've spent so much time on it and you don't want to feel like you've wasted it? It sounds like you are serious about improving, after each session you could write down what you noticed you want to improve on, and look over it before the next session to keep it in your head. Some days things just go wrong and that's okay! Either take a break or switch to qp/aim training if you want to push through Sometimes the mindset of "I could have done that better" can also bring you down, if it's weighing on you, again writing things down to get them out of your head can help. Mix things up! Try characters you don't play that often, you might find a new favourite, or realise how much better you are on your main (e.g. I can aim at enemies a lot better on Ana than Ash despite them both being scoped characters) Ultimately being positive and banging your head into a wall aren't mutually exclusive, people love Souls games. glhf on your games!
mental is just one of the things you can work on. Having insane mental won't necessarily help you that much unless it was the thing holding you back imo, apart from just having more fun while playing
Swapping bastion and feeding because you're tilted? Naw. I switch bastion and feed to make the enemy rein have a good day feeling they beat a bastion. (i wish thats why; I'm just bad).
Just hoped on ow after not playing for 2 weeks, first game has someone dc after winning first point on flashp. He re connects after losing second (1-1). We are now winning (2-1) and my tank decides to throw and go afk cos me and other healer were healing each other instead of healing him… this game is impossible to have a good mental with all the external factors that effect your rank (smurfs,throwers,leavers,cheaters/ximmers). Tl;dr game got deleted
@@rudyranger249 I’m in diamond 2 rn (masters 2 when I was actively playing) it’s always been like this, every 3 games there’s a game where something out of anyone’s control happens

got in a game yesterday where the first 3 players (me, tank, and the other dps) locked winston tracer echo and our supports went lifeweaver and mercy. tank complained in prep phase about playing dive with that support comp and threatened to throw if they didn't switch. the supports stayed on their characters (not blaming them) and when the round started the tank switched to ball and afk'd for the rest of the attack phase 😭some people just have paper mental
the eskay and vulture duo was such a happy surprise
Week 164 of reminding Eskay that she is an amazing content creator and that we appreciate everything that she does for us

"they give up and start throwing after losing two fights"
this is roughly half my games in gold
sometimes gold players just start throwing randomly even when they have been winning all game long... -_-

My mental can't take playing in QP with the same people for more than 1 round. It should be illegal to have multi round QP games.
It's people like these that give us true Bastion players such a bad rep :(
