Bro! This clip clearly shows us the bunker at the beginning - it represents the house (neighborhood, city) where the boy grew up. For all the horror that happens there, it is his fortress. But as he grew up, he had to leave his home, breaking his heart. On his way up, he saw a lot of bad things (the junkie in the elevator represents this). Next, he begins his journey! Running is what we do to stay put, to live or exist. He is chased by dogs, they are ghosts of the past that haunt him from his home to the end of his life, he runs from them too. At the end he gives up (tells himself to stop), after which although he takes a break, he never accomplishes anything. Smoking gave him the opportunity to ignore the bad things or to forget - for which he thanks Jah (Jah, Bless! Keep him from harm!) This is what he sings about in the chair before he gets into the elevator. The car that picked him up are fellow travelers or like-minded people that we meet on our way through life, but sooner or later our paths diverge from them.
