Thank you for this very informative explanation of the different types, I have only used the weaving one so far (as it is described in the manual) and I bought my machine 2nd hand, so didnt get some bits with it. I have just ordered some ravel cord to give that a try :)
Sally, when you pick up the stitches that you knit onto the ravel cord for the hem, you say you are picking up the yarn in between the stitches, not the stitch itself? (16;33 or so in the vid). I am still worried about how this open cast on method will cause the main knitting to unravel.
It refers to the fact that you are picking up the bottom connecting thread between two stitches, rather than the top loop of one stitch. It won’t unravel!
