    I know many people dislike this design because it’s got a more “emotional” face but I loved it. Perhaps because it was my Cyberman. I do love the head piece where it has the hologram or prismatic sticker instead of the black bubbled material.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  10 месяцев назад +1

      You're referring to the Cyber Leader. I think his head changes slightly through the production and I have a gut feeling that his lamp ends up with the bullet tray insert towards the end. All of them were supposed to have the holographic paper under the tray.

      They do look sad. I like that. Most people don’t want to be converted into a Cyberman. Lol.

    Great repair! Possibly my favourite Cyberman variant. I can still remember the thrill of their reveal in 'Earthshock'. A real "Bloody hell!" moment. I can remember my late mum (who wasn't really a Doctor Who fan, but watched it, possibly because of Peter Davison), saying: "I wasn't expecting those bastards!"
    And the Cyberman were creepy again. They had been planning this for possibly years. The fact you could see something behind the mouth panel was actually quite unpleasant. I don't really want to know what is behind that faceplate, thank you very much (yes, I know in reality, it's often David Banks), but in canon, it won't be pleasant.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Nice one.

    The EARTHSHOCK re-design is my favourite.
    Wish this re-design had flashing lights, in the chest unit, to tie them to the ‘60s Cybermen.
    The flashing lights would have made them look even more impressive, with the many shots of the Cybermen in the gloomy freighter hold.
    Never did like the silver-painted ski boots. They look goofy with the Cyberman’s new lanky frame.
    It was an improvement (imo) when they were swapped out for the silver and grey canvas lace-ups.

    • @PBProps
      @PBProps  4 месяца назад

      I do rather like the Earthshock type, mind you, they were my first exposure to the Cybermen. The moon boots were crap though, I agree -though as you said, at least they swapped them for the snow boots for the next story onwards.

    Great video, I really enjoyed this one. My only non-home-made piece of Dr Who stuff is a "This Planet Earth" version of the same head, except with a solid jaw piece, and this evening you've got me looking at it in a new light! It's taken from the same moulds I believe, but the handles and other parts are not bolted. It has developed some minor cracks over the years, and you have got me toying with the idea of filling these in and doing a respray. :)

    Well RUclips & Googles algorithms and no doubt spyware has landed me on your channel, probably due to an inordinate amount of time recently searching on ebay for Cyberman figures!
    I must say I've found your video here highly entertaining and insightful.
    Also brought some 'excellent' memories back of me wearing a Cyberman helmet from The Five Doctors which was on display at Longleat 83'
    I was 12 at the time and taken along by my brother, whilst in one of the display tents, the curator of costumes at the event was letting people see what it was like to put one of these helmets on, and I can still clearly remember (now aged 53!) the wonderful view out of the mouthpiece!

      Off hand, not a clue - it's been a while since I checked, but they can't have been any more than 5mm or 6mm. You could always find a nice photo of the genuine costumes, measure the lamp in the picture, then measure the one you have, divide one by the other to give you the scale ratio, then measure up the holes in the picture and times it by the number you got and that'll give you something to aim at.
