NO starbucks, fake nails, or lashes,
Saaammmme. Like once in a blue moon I will get 1 Starbucks drink but I make my coffee at home. As for fake nails and eyelashes… they can be tempting sometimes, but I see the price and say NO TY. Also I have three girls and would love to show them what’s more important than “beauty” that fades.
I do pressons! So much cheaper and no waiting in those smelly salons.
I have to have a special coffee once every week or so. But I agree about the nails and lashes. Press ons have come a long way and I always get so many compliments.
Fake eyelashes and lip filler look terrible on women anyway. Some women are walking around with fake lashes that look like they were purchased at advanced auto parts in the windshield wiper section.
Cigarettes, alcohol, tattoos, lottery tickets.
Pets, women (mostly).
Alcohol is fun!
Yep, no lotto more alcohol.
A buy a lottery ticket. Just in case 😊😊
The sad thing is, people think they “need” these things to get through life.
I will never ever spend real money on cell phone games. I can't fathom using real money to buy fake in game money.
Credit card interest. Will not do it.
Me too
I also refuse to pay annual fees. My credit cards have cashback programs that are fairly easy to understand. I don’t have the lifestyle/patience to pay annual fees to *maybe* get bigger rewards.
The worst is cigarettes
Tom Stanley did a great case study on the hypothetical of a smoker quitting by age 30, and instead investing the $ they would have spent on cigarettes in Phillip Morris. At retirement in this scenario, the investments come out worth several million.
They weren't on the list.
Great list. On #8 Rachel said frugal people never "Buy" pets. I have never bought a pet as in from a pet store; however, I have adopted many, and will gladly reimburse any costs, Veterinarian, boarding, etc. in the form of an adoption fee. These fees help support groups who find and care for unwanted animals, something I also support through gifts and donations.
Books , that is funny coming from someone who has written several.
Not having a pet at all saves a ton of money. 😁
Absolutely! Our first dog was a very pricey purebred GSD. He was wonderful and I miss him dearly. I felt he was the best dog to have around in that stage of our life because my husband used to travel a lot. He passed away a few years ago. Shortly after we adopted a rescue puppy. For $120, the rescue paid for all her initial shots, spay, and microchip. It was the best way to go and we adore our quirky mutt.
While at work, not going out for lunch. That easily can save a thousand dollars a year. Plus packing your own lunch is more healthy and makes you more wealthy.
That was the secret for my wife and I to buy our first house
Manicures, total waste of money
Second hand book stores are the greatest!
Yes! Books are one thing I will never give up, but I never buy them new.
And libraries! 🙂
My library system sells used books, magazines, CDs and DVDs that are no longer in circulation or are donated to the library for resell to benefit the library. Just got a 700-pg. biography (hardback, in like new condition) on T.E. Lawrence for a buck. I will pass it on to a friend to read when I am done and she will do likewise. I often just return the purchased books, etc. to resell again. I bring in books and magazines (like Discover Britain) from my collection for
resale also. Usually paperbacks are for sale for a quarter. I got a 1928 edition of a book written by Rodin on art. For a quarter. I also was lucky enough to have neighbors/friends who owned for many years the used and rare bookstore in our neighborhood. Was gifted with gorgeous art books and history books many times. Heaven!
The library. I don’t go often but your card is free and you read all you want
Refuse to give/loan money to people who never pay you back!! Been burned too many times but no more!!
Good one. My brother borrowed three thousand dollars from me in 2009 and he never paid me back. It was my income tax refund. I stopped loaning money to family and friends. This is why I am frugal. I have to save my money so that I don't have to ask anyone to loan me money.🤷🏾♀️
Sometimes, loaning a moderate amount of money to someone you know will never pay you back is a good way to never see them again. Depending on who it is, can be well worth the cost. lol
My husband is in residency and we have 2 kids in college and 2 at home still in grade school. We never go out to eat. We buy groceries. We watch movies at home. We don't have pets. We don't buy junk food. We don't dry clean (yet), I mend clothes, and we only shop for necessities, not wants. It's a season that will last a few more years until we are out of debt, but we can see the sun on the horizon!
Sounds pretty sweet. Those sacrifices sound a lot more pleasant than many of the alternatives. 😁👍
In the future you may think of these days as the best of times. We have lived through stages of thick and thin, though never with much debt. The most treasured memories are camping with the kids and grandkids, not the European vacations and expensive things we have purchased and experienced.
Hats off to you and your family 🎉🎉🎉I'm a nurse and I watch the residents and doctors talk about paying those loans back. So you're doing an awesome job with your family with managing until the debt is paid..❤❤❤
We did the same thing during my residence. Now that Im an attending, life is really good. We save the 15% and have a lot of wiggle room to do things we love
IT IS QUITE simple really, we are both retired, no kids at home, all middle aged now, savings in the bank and we have been doing the same thing for 52 years of our marriage.
I so prefer cooking a nice dinner, sitting at the table with just the two of us, no noise of people talking at the next table and music, one does not like, blaring from the speakers around. If we go out I prefer to take a picnic basket with food I prepared than buying stuff from an outlet that I do not know what is in it and how it is cooked.
This year I have a problem as hubby decided to go on a three week holiday to a neighbouring country. His first holiday for the last 14 years, he tells me that we will buy ready food and I must admit I hate that idea. I am already planning on dragging my trusted thermos for coffee/tea and looking at grocery outlets along our way. 50 years+ is not easy to get adjusted to another approach.
Door dash!! I had a free trial for a bit and thought it was so great until I realized the restaurants/fast food places charge more money for the item if purchased through door dash. So even if your doordash is free you are still paying more. I'll make food at home or go get it!!
Plus the added tip for delivery!
Never have used Door Dash AND never will.
Doordash rips off restaurants. They take 30 to 40% of the price of the food. And then Doordash expects you to tip their drivers. And many drivers steal part of your food it has been reported.
I am a retired person that needs extra income. (Over 65) As a DoorDash driver it has been very helpful. (Just a different view. :). 🚙 🚗
Door Dash and delivered groceries are two things I will not spend money on. I don’t like spending money on bottled water at Costco, but I have a special needs child who REALLY likes them. It really helps us survive life!
All TV service contracts, RUclips keeps me informed and entertained for free.
magazines (it's basically just ads), sodas (don't drink your calories, people), expensive clothing for kids (they don't care and they will grow out of them in no time),...
My kids used to think Starter brand at Walmart was cool!
@rcg- then another kid schooled your kid. Lol. Sad.
Ugh, I used to LOVE magazines! Then I noticed they are such a waste of money.
@@katemiller7874 My son had a rich teammate tell him, "My outfit is worth more than your life."
I used to go to the second hand store for my daughter’s clothes. You could find nice brands and then sell them back again once she grew out of them.
Overpriced concert tickets I do not buy that. I'm trying to fund my retirement fun not theirs.
I like that. Excellent point
I'll go once a year if it's someone I really really want to see. Otherwise I'll go to some small venues to see some up-n-comers. I really won't pay to see anyone/any band pedaling nostalgia.
There are local events which are much cheaper. I went to one yesterday by donation plus they had homemade refreshments!
I’m telling you . I have a mini heart attack when I see people buy concert tickets for $800 or more .
It needs to be under $200 for me or I won’t buy it . Those people are wayyy better off than me
@@Anne_Myriam_ Said concert goers might be way better off. Or at least they're acting like it, spending money they don't have on something they don't need.
I would never pay thousands of dollars for a purebred dog or cat. Shelters are full of wonderful, loving pets to adopt and buying pets instead of adopting adds to the pet overpopulation problem we have.
Not to mention is likely a death sentence for the dogs in the pound.
I only try to get my dogs through rescues groups.
❤ yup, as well as the ones on the streets.
Our first dog was a purebred GSD. He was wonderful to have around and made me feel safe when my husband used to travel a lot. He was also so gentle around my daughter when she was little. Going forward though I will only adopt from rescues. I definitely see how bad the pet overpopulation problem is now and our current dog is a rescue. She’s been a wonderful dog.
You can save even more not gett any animals. We have three cats, two dogs, and two birds. None of them are mine. I love animals as long as they belong to other people. I will spoil them like crazy and am very happy to give them back! I like plants much better.
I’m as cheap as they come, however not having a pet is unacceptable for me. My dog brings me joy every day, you can’t buy that anywhere. She also keeps me active, therefore keeping me from joining a gym which I refuse to do, a clear money saver. Having a dog also lowers the risk of my home being burglarized. If you are unknown to me or my family stay away.
We have 6 dogs. All were strays that showed up. We’re out in the country
Anything..a car..a shirt is not new the moment you open the package or drive off of the lot
I wonder if they meant they dont BUY a pet.
@@helainehoerning2200even adoption from a shelter requires an adoption fee.
I'm 64 and love my pets . I have saved thousands and thousands over the last 6 years by dumping any pay TV and gym memberships as I got what I needed and pump iron on my concrete patio in Central Florida year around. I also saved lots of money and wear and tear on my truck from not driving to a gym.
I refuse to pay for parking if at all possible and I refuse to pay any bank fees/ATM fees. I only withdrawal cash at machines that don't charge a fee and I always look for free parking, even if that means walking further.
It should be free to park anywhere in the city
@@Alex-mx6mu I purposely have foregone going out to a restaurant or other establishment in my downtown due to my refusal to pay for parking. I wonder if there is any correlation between parking costs and lost/reduced business in those kinds of areas. Now I understand parking is a finite resource and it would fill up anyway. But that said, I'm always fine walking a decent distance if it's something I really want to see/do.
I refuse to pay for shipping. I order a lot online but I try to avoid shipping fees
That is also on the list unless I really really need it right then.
Shipping is built into the price....
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Powernot for the stuff Id like to buy; sometimes it’s half the item itself 😢
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Powerwhich is exactly another reason to avoid paying for the line item of “shipping”. They already made their margin on the product itself.
Me too!!! I thought it was just me lol
Junk food, sodas, juices, candy, fast food. Stick to my list when I’m at grocery stores. Manicures and pedicures. I do it myself. No fake nails.
This!!! So many people don’t understand my impatience when I’m with them at the grocery store. I have a list and I’m only getting what’s on that list. Not only does it save money but also time
for anyone working in healthcare: fake nails can harbor deadly bacteria that has been responsible for the deaths of premature babies in the hospitals! they were banned years ago but are starting to trend again...just don't. read about the history and just don't.
I eat mostly meat and only limited carbs. Grocery shopping is so easy now . And I buy bulk when beef or chicken and eggs are on sale. But I do treat myself to some peanut butter cups on the weekend. 😊😊😊😊😊
Refuse food delivery. Between the delivery fee and tipping, I am significantly better off just driving there myself
I agree. People at work use door dash all of the time. I’ve don’t it twice in a year and was just not worth it. 10-12 for a burger (no fries or drink) from fast food was just crazy. I’d rather just fast until dinner than spend that much.
Brand new practically anything, second hand first if it’s worth it! Has saved me 10’s of thousands
Garage sales are great and fun
I refuse to pay for cable I'm very old school and still have an antenna
I don’t even have a television. Watching television is not a necessity, wastes time and runs up the electric bill
I wish my husband thought like you. $160.56 a month down the drain!
@@lindap.p.1337 just get internet $20-$40 and just pay for one streaming service at a time
Between getting the weights I need and cable for lifting weights and a TV antenna....I have saved enough money in the last 6 years to pay for almost 2 years of lot rent where I live in Florida. And I enjoy lifting weights outside with no rules. And my tablet and phone cost only 90 a month and I have Pluto TV and movies on RUclips.
@@nicholasselke5214Sorry but , it would cost me hundreds or thousands of dollars a year to be entertained without my tablet or TV. I only watch old movies and TV shows.
I refuse to pay people to do anything for me that I could do myself. I service my car and do all repairs, do all the maintenance on my house, mow my lawn and look after the garden, cook all my own food, even cut my hair myself, takes 2 minutes for a buzz cut. The list goes on.
I used to think that way, but there's a lot of things it's more cost effective for me to pay someone else to handle while I work my normal day job. Doesn't cost nearly what I make an hour to pay a neighborhood teen to mow my lawn, for example.
@@om617yota8 is anyone choosing not working over doing these maintenance things though 🤨
@@om617yota8 I hear what you’re saying, I work 40-50 hours a week and take care of my chores outside of work time, not missing out on any income. The money I save goes into investments and savings account. Aiming to retire young. I still have 2 of my 4 children at home, hoping I set a good example for them by being productive and careful with my money.
@@alqoshgirl No clue about how others do it. I'm in commissioned sales and pick my own hours, I'm wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy money ahead just working more. I also HATE having a lawn, would rip it out and plant concrete if it was entirely up to me.
Please marry me, you are the type of a guy I want to be with.
I refuse to buy fast food and drinks when out and about. I always plan ahead and bring drinks, snacks lunch, etc with me. I don't have TV, I watch videos and RUclips. Thank you always for you positivity and sharing your thoughts and knowledge!
There are some decent deals on some of the FF restaurant apps. Wendy's ran Singles for $1 , Doubles for $2 through march madness.
I saw the puppy pic and came here with my pitch fork. I love my furr babies.
1. Bottle Water
2. Paper towel
3. Restaurant Food
4. Cable
5. Expensive perfume
6. New Books- I buy used books from Thrifty books
7. New Cars
8. Expensive Phone Plans
9. Brand New Clothes
10. Expensive pieces of jewelry.
11. Expensive Exercise Equipment
12. Expensive makeup
13. Expensive Decorations
14. Expensive Gifts
15. Expensive detergents
16. Streaming Services and subscriptions
Good list. 😮!
@@marknewton6984 Thanks.
New cars. I keep heat low and try not to run air conditioning in the summer. Junk food.
@@beverlyquinn9036I love all kinds of weather outside, but my body won't do the cold. I very much prefer to not have hardly any air conditioning at all, but our kids sleep upstairs and can't sleep when it's too hot. So we have to have it on.
Can't live without paper towels. They wipe up spills , wipe my fingers (napkins), wipe my nose (tissues), when wet they clean almost anything.
All purpose.
As a fur mama to a yorkie… your thumbnail drew me 😂
I gotta say my fur baby has been a lil piece of Jesus in my life and that makes him well worth the expense ❤
Agree!!!!
AGREED! My Yorkie is one of the best things that has ever happened to me! She was and is worth EVERY PENNY!
@@amandaneumann4047 absolutely!! My first Yorkie lived a very healthy life 17.5 years, sweet and gorgeous!!
I love my Yorkie. I love good dogs in general. The joy they bring is not measurable.
I recently lost my precious Yorkie & I will eventually get another. I don't have family. She was my family.
Excluding business trips, I tend to avoid restaurants and coffee shops. Fortunately, for business trips, I get reimbursed.
What is your business and where do you work?
Are they hiring?
I work for the government! Air Force Civilian Service!
Food delivery.
I refuse to pay for food delivery services, overpriced, fees, tipping, not worth it. That and Starbucks. I can make coffee at home, but I also rarely drink coffee.
The never list for me: tattoos, bottled water, food delivery, cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, energy drinks, manicures, vitamins, Starbucks. Here's how to eat out (occasionally) on a budget; purchase the main course and tap water only (no coffee, alcohol, salads, dessert, etc.). The mains are usually $18 where I live so two can eat out for $45 including the tax/tip.
For 45 dollars, I'll pick up a couple of ribeyes and eat at home where I can truly relax and enjoy the meal. I've found that eating out isn't really enjoyable.
I'm amazed how some people routinely buy meals at gas stations (Caseys in Iowa). Its insane how much money they could save themselves by packing a lunch.
I need physical books too. I borrow them from the library or get them used on Walmart website for cheap then I donate them or give them to friends when I’m done. The things I’ve learned in books was well worth the price. They taught me how to invest and save ❤ but I totally understand people who do well with electronic books. I just enjoy a physical book 😊
Yes and I often find used books for cheap on Amazon or EBay as well. 😊.
Manicures, pedicures, Starbucks, fillers or Botox, expensive bags. Husband bought me a Luis Vuitton bag for our wedding anniversary and that thing haunts me. 😂
Love you. I once spent over $100 on a leather handbag. I had a friend throw the tags and receipt away so I could not return it.
But hose bags hold their value I have sold many bags at almost same as I paid
I never ever buy coffee out - anywhere.
Never been to Starbucks! 😮
I refuse to spend money on Gucci, Louie, luxury cars, mansions expensive technology, electronics, and rolexes
Since these are years pay for me, not a real issue.
I’ve never bought a new car. Always found a used one in good condition. Best wins were from neighbors and co-workers that babied their cars.
Yup. Bought mine as a 2 yr old vehicle. Only had 10,000 miles on it. Saved over $7000 from new cost.
Same here, and if you are able to pay cash for the car and own it outright, you can dispense with having collision insurance. I will always have liability insurance ( law or no law ) and comp insurance ( fire, theft, or a tree falling on it) is worth having, but I have saved thousands not having collision and driving older paid for cars.
My husband and I don’t pay for:
Eating out
Drive through/coffee shop coffees
Birthday cards for each other
Brand new books (all are thrifted)
Expensive parties (especially kids parties!)
Party favors/gift bags at parties
Baby specific laundry detergent (just get the free and clear one!)
Trendy home decor
Almost anything name brand
Things that are on sale that we don’t actually like or need
Birthday cards are sweet and can be bought at the dollar store. Dreft is made for babies for a reason. Babies skin is very, very delicate. So your kids don’t have parties with their friends. Sad. That’s how kids bond at parties. Treat bags were the most fun to make. You keep being cheap with kids it may have the opposite effect of what your shooting for.
Birthday cards just end up in the garbage.. my husband and I are better at just telling each other how much we love each other, dreft is made with the same ingredients as the fragrance free detergent, and my son is only two years old.. he has his many cousins come over for his parties (they won’t remember these parties when they’re older) and goodie bags at parties are usually cheap toys from the dollar store that don’t last. The kids just want to play outside and eat cake and ice cream.. they don’t care for how much money or effort you put into it 😅
It’s not being cheap, it’s cutting things from your life that you can live without, and it saves money in the end.. I’d call that a win
Americans are the biggest hoarders and biggest eaters in the world. So much waste buying things that you can easily live without.
@@katemiller7874Actually, she sounds like she doesn't spoil her children which is the best thing.
During COVID I stopped getting my Yorkie groomed. I bought the needed equipment and watched you tube videos. May not be perfect but I’m saving $75 every 6-8 weeks.
RUclips has saved me lots of money. You can learn a lot especially when it comes to fixing your vehicle or doing something around the house.
I lost my $20 Amazon sunglasses a couple months ago. My workplace had similar pair in the lost & found for a month, so I “claimed” them thinking they were cheapies. I Googled them last week & found out they cost over $300. I must say, they’re nice
Thief
I like bottled water because the faucet water tastes like chemical soup.
I agree... I ended up buying a Brita water pitcher on sale, and it has saved lots of money compared to buying cases of water bottles.
I got this large water filter bottle that actually goes on my water cooler but it’s got a filter in the center so I just open lid and poor water in it. It’s Amazing.
Mmmm microplastics, so good.
Berkey filter system. Great water, very inexpensive in the long run.
Undersink or whole house filtration!
Love the book plug while preaching not buying books
Right?! Like no one noticed? No one said anything? Until now after I scrolled and scrolled. 13 likes?
The expensive wallet system they sell gets me. It’s not in my budget.😅
Exactly. Did she even realise how fake this came off?
I refuse to spend my money on
Nails
Pedicures
Lashes
Botox
Or going in the beauty salon, I cut and color my own hair . And my mother in law owns a beauty salon, but she’s always very generous and likes to do it for free, so I prefer not to bother her ❤😊
Yes! Coloring hair costs $60 including tip (or at least it did years ago). I know box dye is worse for your hair, but my goodness, it only costs $8!

thank you for rescuing fur babies
I too have four dogs all rescued no high dollar dogs just dogs but my life is better because of them worth every penny. Frugal people don't cheap out on love.
Pets are the love bringers to our lives. I would never leave my baby girl just to save some money.
same
I'm a voracious book reader and a minimalist. If I bought physical books it'd be a nightmare. I love kindle and audible!
I agree. I love my Libby library app. And it's free!!
I purchased an under-sink water purifier years ago. Can’t drink tap water due to health concerns. Dumped cable TV at least 15 years ago . I make my own toothpaste, laundry liquid, facial toner, facial cream, dishwashing powder. The internet has so many options for these and the savings are astronomical. I prefer to know what I’m putting on my skin and for it not to be another chemical.
Bottled water is good in an emergency though. You have to be frugal but be smart about the real world.
I will spend for bottled water because, for some reason, little bottles of water keep me from drinking soda whereas tap water, for some other reason, doesn't.
We have a few 1-gallon water jugs for earthquake preparedness. We also have a camping water filter that filters a gallon in a few minutes. It’s great if you have a boil water notice, because you don’t have to boil and then cool down the water.
I'll buy bottled water as I'm not drinking tap. If it was well water, I would. But I save thousands a year from other things that are not necessary.
Never pay interest on credit cards
Branded clothing at brand stores. I find them at bargain prices in second hand stores 😊
I refuse to spend money for a storage unit.
And you shouldn’t “buy” pets - adopt! Save a life!
Depending on where you live, adopting, a pet is still extremely expensive. Also, it’s not just the purchase of the pad, It’s vet, bills and food, and every other expense that comes with it
Storage units!! Need to get rid of ours.
We took in an orange tabby kitten in December 1991. Named him Milo and he was our furry family member for 15.5 years. Didn't cost a dime to take him in.
@johntracy72,
Did you name him Milo after the movie Milo and Otis ? That was a really cute movie
@@johntracy72i have 2 lungfish almost 30 years old. A turtle 20 years old. 2 birds almost 20 years old.
None are showing any signs of old age. All (except the bantam chicken) might well last another 50 years. There are snakes that have lived into their 50's.
Choose your pet species wisely for longevity.
I spent $6.50 for ONE bottle of water at an event venue. I cringed but I was truly very very thirsty and it was an event you weren’t allowed to bring your own food or water. I didn’t see a water fountain and just didn’t feel comfortable drinking from the bathroom faucet. Luckily Hubby was given two tickets to the event for Christmas so we at least didn’t pay for the event. I still can’t believe water was $6.50 though.
The water was a nickle. The bottle was a quarter. The rest was profit.
I avoid INTEREST at all times.
Hopefully you don't avoid investing
Me too. Never on a credit card no way or a car. Only thing I could think of is on a home is ok to pay interest, but pay off in 1/2 the time.
@@kjwworldwide you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. You could get the loan for less time and get a lower rate if that was your goal

Absolutely!
Of course. But choose wisely. Natural breeds that don't attract huge vet bills or expensive grooming.
Absolutely! They are precious!

We buy the 5 gallon Primo water jugs and then spend $2 to refill 5 gallons at the kiosk
i enjoyed this video because they are good points but you added your honesty about the reality of our individuality as well!
I refuse to pay for a Smartphone, cable tv, getting my nails done, new cars warranties and bottle water as well. I bought a stainless steel Berkey water filter many years ago and filter all of our water for drinking, cooking, carrying with me. My four budget planned splurges are 1) my rescue dog, 2) my every 6-8 week $40.00 haircut and 3) our organic food for our health. For years I went to the beauty school for a cheap haircut but the cut was awful, so I put a good haircut into my budget. 4) I also buy a Best Buy total membership annual fee. I'm age 73 and I no longer have the ability to keep my Laptop and our TV's in good working order. Having this membership has saved me SO MUCH money in repairs, updates, new purchases and keeping the technology running.
While it's unwise to spend money on bottled water on a regular basis, it's not a bad idea to have some on hand in case of a water outage or boil water notice. I have a few gallons on hand because we have had water outages and boil water notices due to severe weather.
Wasting money on nails.
Yep, screws last longer.
That must make carpentry difficult.
@@Rogerthatidea😂
Well, it’s true.. when we replace fence boards, we use screws instead of nails.
Bottled water, coffee, paper plates, paper napkins, plastic utensils, subscriptions, no dry clean clothes, etc. I could list more.... lol!
Had to get that marketing in for her book right there in the middle of her advice!
Back in 1992, I moved out of the house and was on my own. I didn't have 2 dimes to rub together and I had this old Zenith radio that I snapped on and listened to an old AM radio station. There was this guy talking that had used debt to fuel his real estate empire. He was the youngest licensed real estate agent in the state of Tennessee when this happened. Apparently the bank he had this financed through got sold to "huge gigantic bank" and they saw this 26-year-old kid with millions in debt. They called in all of his notes, he couldn't pay them and had to declare bankruptcy and drive a 1978 Cadillac with the vinyl top flapping in the breeze. I decided I wouldn't do that and didn't. I don't remember the guy's name off-hand but I think this girl is kin to him. GREAT VIDEO!
Congratulations on your new children's book! Would you consider doing a video or two on how to get a children's book published? I would like to know how to find an illustrator, whether to hire an editor, how to get noticed by a publisher, and also pitfalls to avoid. Thank you.
A life without an animal companion is just sad. I feel sorry for anyone who who views them as an expense and nothing more.
I agree, and so do my horses,.dogs, cats, goats, donkey and llama.
Don't feel sorry for me. I have children, grandchildren, and now great grandkids- Twins. Always busy with doing things around the house and enjoying my family. Animals in the house is gross!!!!
Never owned a dog or a cat, I can’t stand a dirty place .
I'm 64 and love my pets. My father lived by himself for over 50 years and never had a pet. I even have a camper to put my pets in if a hurricane comes my way in Florida and we leave for a couple of days .... incase. We always have a home.
@@Joyce-id3drLOL 😂, animals are cleaner than most people are... KAREN.
There is little to no price benefit to getting e-books, you don't actually own the product, and it requires electricity and a web connection to work. Physical books don't have those problems.
I refuse to buy:
- software-as-a-service or streaming subscriptions.
- a television.
- supermarket bread.
- any motor vehicle whose basic maintenance I can't do myself.
congrats on the new book Rachel🥳
Thank you for keeping us informed on so many levels. I feel like the more I learn about our country low income people my anger grows, Thanks Arleth, Imagine investing $1000 and receiving $5,450 in 3days.🇨🇦
Low income people are suffering to survive, I appreciate her she's a great personality in the state, Imagine receiving $13,670 in few days.
If you don't find a means of multiplying your income you will wake up one day to realize you didn't plan..
She changed my life for good, I'm also a beneficiary.
HOW DO I GET ON THIS ???🙏🏻
SHE'S MOSTLY ON TELEGRAMS APPS
WITH THE BELOW NAME’
I don’t buy books. We go to the library. They will borrow or buy any book I want that they don’t have.
Reverse osmosis is great; however, the filter is expensive! Now I have 5-gallon water dispenser. The hot water saves a lot of time for a hot tea or hot cocoa. No need to boil water. The water is always cold. I use the fridge water for other things, like coffee. Amazon Prime is great! You get free deliveries plus free movies…also has free e-books and audio books and music! I get cable…hardly go to the movie theater. So I watch movies at home, at my own pace…Shopping on-line is a time-saver! You can control your spending when you see how much you put in your cart. Then decide whether it is a need or a want…not because it is on sale. Sometimes, it sits in the cart for days and end up not buying anything! ❤❤❤
PS .,, Rachel, I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for sharing. Stay well.❤
Great content, especially the point on books and new cars. I tend to avoid: coffee or food outside when alone.
Great list! I agree with the not buying dry clean only clothes, especially with kids. It's why I love my machine washable suit.
For good clean water fans, I thought I would share the company Aqua Tru. I am a housekeeper for a woman twice a week and for a Christmas gift she bought me an aqua true reverse osmosis water filter for Christmas. This thing is the bomb! Now it’s a little on the steep side …..we’re talking about being frugal lol but in the long run, it’ll save you money and all that buggy lugging, going back-and-forth with water because liquid is very heavy to carry and all of those plastic bottles you have to recycle. Once it goes through these filters and the reverse osmosis process, my tap water tastes like silk! Just thought I would share.
Me and my spouse are frugal, but we have a Schnauzer. The best money we've ever spent! She is so funny and cute. More entertainment than cable! 😂🐶❤ She seems like there's a little human trapped inside of her lol We do all of her grooming ourselves. ❤
Colouring and highlights. I went Grey during Covid and am saving a lot! 10 yrs ago it used to cost me $150-200 to do my roots every 8 weeks and a trim. It must be $200-300 now plus a top. Grey is great and free.
Bottles water is a health item if you don't have proper water at home.
Just get a filter 😂
I cant believe
..pets are on here... my dog Amadeus is precious... I'm not working 50 hours a week and not having a furry friend to greet me
..and follow me thru the house and sleep by my bed all night and is also a great guard dog...i also volunteer at animal shelter...and i advocate for dogs and cats to get good homes....pets add so much to your life
Congratulations for your book!
Having my nails done! I cant imagine spending my money on it…
Pedicures are worth the $$$😂
Hoping our library will stock your kids books soon! ❤
Request them. Most libraries are eager for suggestions.
Hair appointments at the salon.
When it comes down to it: Will this purchase bring me joy? Is it a quality purchase (slightly more money up front) but will last? Can I afford it?
I’m 95% frugal and have my 5% impulse buys. Money, while extremely important, isn’t everything. Do things that will bring you joy, while also being smart.
I bought my car used. I’m almost on year 3 of my iPhone. I ran my laptop for the past 5 years and finally needed a new one bc I use it for personal and work.
TV. I've never paid a cable bill, never paid for a streaming service. I watch plenty here on YT, though.
I bought a digital antenna for $35 and cancelled the cable. I get all the local stations plus about 20 others and I watch you and other programs on RUclips. Also, the added value between having a smart phone vs. the latest smart phone is night and day.
I have tried the antenna route with three separate antennas and none of them work! No channels come in. Any idea why? I would love to have a few channels
I’m very frugal, but my pets are like my kids, so I will always have them and never skimp on their healthcare. I refuse to buy bottled water, though, unless it is the only choice available. It is expensive and horrible for the environment. Congratulations on your new book coming out!!!
I never say never, each have taste occasions for it. But one thing that I haven't spent retail for is clothes. Since I started volunteering at charity op shop, never buy retail again. So much of good quality clothes being donated. Quite frequently designer labels as well.
I got so lucky on a loan for a car when I was 18. I had 0% interest, no downpayment. Car depreciated like maybe a couple thousand but I paid off the loan quicker than it lost value so it was always worth the same by year 1 and a half. My car still works amazing, it’s not failing, it works like a charm. I know I’ll never get a deal that great ever again.
Food delivery
I just wash and dry my "dry clean only" clothes. That simple lol
I’m glad you brought this up. I only had one dress many years ago I washed and dried that shrunk into a child size dress! I was surprised that it shrunk that much. But since then, I wash some ‘dry clean only’ clothing in cold water delicate or low setting and either hang them to dry or use the extra low setting.
@debbiecreter2005 that's awesome!
I thrift shop most of the time and can never find my waist and height size, so it usually helps if stuff shrinks 😂
I agree with most of this list. The two exceptions would be my Dog he is part of the family and adds so much value to my life he is worth every dime the second is bottled water I have a bottle of San Pellegrino with two fresh lemons squeezed in the glass for diner every night. If those two luxuries break me I have bigger issues.
I refuse to spend money on prime. I still get free shipping without it. Most of what's on Amazon TV does not align with my values and I get free music anyway. Why pay for free services doesn't make sense to me. I cut out nail salons, going to the hair salon every month, dying my hair, Sirius, and many things that are not necessities. I have a goal and I am determined to reach it!
i’m a hairstylist of 45 yrs..I’m able to have a studio in part of my house ( outside entrance… state board cks us yearly )I’m able to keep my prices very low compared to my contemporary’s…( no i’ve not gotten rich…doing it this way ) i’m now only 20 hrs a week at 65 yrs old…still have 101 clients not including family…i’m grateful for an income…and clients are grateful for low prices…. i sell hair product at 40% off…clients thankful for that too….( i was a single mom for 11&1/2 yrs…very grateful for ppl willing to come to my business )
Now this is 100% great
I rarely go out to eat.
I need prescription sunglasses. Sometime ago at least 10 years ago I purchased a pair of dolce and Gabbana sunglasses which were really expensive. I've had the lenses replaced in them when I when they need to be and so I figure in the long run it wasn't a bad purchase because I haven't bought frames in a while.
I admit to being a tech nerd, so I do have a lot of new tech gadgets.
I don't have cable TV and I usually only have one streaming service at a time. I don't watch much TV so that's not where my money is spent I do buy audiobooks and books for my kindle, because reading is one of the things I love to do, but I also get a lot of books from the library and from Amazon's Kindle unlimited.
I started doing grocery pick up a lot because it keeps me from impulse buying in the grocery store.
I got rid of cable 3 years ago I use fire stick on my tvs and love the 150 savings
I don't dryclean...the Laundress make some great cleaners that you don't need the dry cleaner
Won't buy a new car, things that aren't needed, anything that is high priced unless it is a treat, lawn services, expensive clothes, iphones, wasteful things. We don't buy an overabundance of stuff that ends up needing decluttered down the road.
Haircuts for myself, most baby stuff, coffee, candy, chips, breakfast at restaurants.
Baby stuff! Including baby food. Get an old school Happy Baby baby food grinder which just mashes up whatever the family is eating.
Get your baby what it needs. Cheapo
I use the cleaners for 2 reasons.
Is have them remove stains that I'm unable to.
Once or twice a year I take husband's dress pants and shirts so a heavy press is done and I maintain them the rest of the year.
We have bought a new car once. It was great due to the fact we didn't have ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. Had great gas mileage.
Purses OVER $50-100. I will try and find an outlet or a store that has them cheaper. In fact I bought 1 recently for $20; original $100.
There are a few more too.
1. Return Shipping
2. Designer Sunglasses I plastic is plastic
3. Salon Hairstyle/Cut - beauty school does a great job for like 70% off
