Thanks Yudi for making this video. I have been for long time, searching for videos about MS in Industrial Engineering from someone's perspective who has himself pursued it. I am doing my Bachelor's in Industrial Engg. and planning to do Masters in same field, but was confused due to the vastness of the field. This video surely was a comprehensive one, gave answers to lots of questions. If possible can you also please arrange some podcasts with more such people having the background of MS Industrial and working in field of Supply Chain or Engineering Management or Data Analytics ? This was good but I don't think he was able explain properly what industrial engineering is all about.
It is all about optimization; be it cost, time, effort or everything.
Started off in automobile factories where they had a knowledge to manufacture car but process of streamlining the production line(see how Henry Ford employed ergonomics concepts to increase mass production) so that the car can be produced in shorter amount of time was made possible by industrial engineering.
Industrial Engineering is a very American Degree.
Each and every field that requires optimization can employ an industrial engineer not just factories. From Tesla, Amazon to Oil Industry, Healthcare Industry, and even Microsoft or IKEA hires IE grads.
And frankly if one opts for the data analytics specialisation, one ends with very similar skills to the one with from DA CSE backgrounds.
Being a major in systems engineering. What positions one can work in an IT company?

Is MEM a big thing/ having huge potential? Many of my colleagues have chosen to do their MS in Engineering Management (MEM). On the otherhand, I have chosen to stick to my core for MS (ChemE) as I did my Undergraduate in ChemE.
In the long run, in terms of career growth which would be better? To stick to core in MS or go for MEM? I sometimes doubt whether I did the right thing. :/
Well I know in the later years after gaining experience, ppl chose managerial roles and as such MEM would be beneficial. But would it be worth doing MEM when you don't have much experience in your field in the first place? + My plan after MS was to get maybe an MBA/MEM a few years down the line.
I would like to hear your opinion on this Yudi.
