I remember in the old days Kitty was a pain in the butt, crybaby, brat, but that just made her growth into a strong, level-headed, young woman all the more satisfying. It was smart to make her the main character in days of Future Past, because, then you got a hint that she wasn't going to be a brat forever. By the way, where's Lockheed the little, purple, dragon?
Short update on Kitty for you potential Comic fans: She's recently realized that being a mutant deprived her of having a normal teen life and saddled her with too much responsibility. With things on earth crappy but relatively stable, and her relationship with Colossus ended (and Piotr emotionally distant after he recovered from being possessed by the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak and the Phoenix Force), Kitty decided to do something wildly impulsive and just for her. She started a relationship with one Peter Quill, eventually joining the Guardians of the Galaxy and moving to space with Starlord. She received a cosmic-level power-boost that gave her all the powers of the most powerful version of herself from all alternate universes possible. When the planet Spartax was entirely encased in an amber-like substance so the alien Brood could infest/infect the entire population, Kitty saved the day by phasing the entire planet through its prison. While she has Ogun's assassin training in her head, and many years of X-Men combat training, Star Lord has been teaching her how to be a thief. Their relationship has gotten a little rocky and she has had to be his voice of reason, especially when he was involuntarily elected King of Spartax.

Kitty feels very much like what I like to call the "showgirl" characters. The likes of Rogue, Dazzler, and Jubilee also fit into this category. They're attractive peppy female characters that are often set to stand beside more popular mainstream characters (like Wolverine), occasionally play damsel in distress and/or comedic relief, and often have terribly vague or under developed pasts. It's pretty tragic I say, I mean Rogue was even a villain at the beginning of her career and her character like many of this type have progressed very little since joining the institute. While it seems on the opposite end of the spectrum overly sexualized females like Emma Frost get far more page time and are often thrust very quickly into positions of power, authority, or just plain become front runners. Emma's jump from baddie to team leader of the X-Men in such a short time was a fantastic example. Now, granted I do realize that the majority of Marvels line-up isn't exactly meant for, nor directed at, a female audience. So they probably think they're throwing us ladies a bone when putting females in positions of power, but does it have to be the gal whose common ensemble is derived from half lingerie, lol? I'm starting to diverge far off topic now, and feel I've overstepped my initial point. So I digress. I just wish they'd do more with our lil "showgirl" stand-ins.

Got to disagree with you in this one. I think she had a lot of character development throughout all uncanny xmen and Excalibur!! You haven't even mention some of the big events of her life like his father's death, his parents divorce, her relationship with colossus! Idk but this vid it's too resumed in my opinion

Kitty's the only mutant that I know of that can phase through things. But on the cover she's blond. of course I could very easily be wrong about when it was published. It was quite a good miniseries. The series was called Mekanix.
