  • Relative infrared (specifically 915nm) response characteristics of three image intensifier technologies using a Pulsar L-915 20mW Class 1 (eye safe) laser illuminator.
The three image intensifiers are a Photonis 4G (INTENS), an L3 Unfilmed and a ITT t-filmed image intensifier. Each of the image intensifier technologies are well represented by the tubes used in this video.
    Equipment Used:
    1 x Photonis XP6 4G (INTENS) Image Intensifier P22 Phosphor
    FOM 2296
    SNR - 32.8
    Resolution - 70lp/mm
    Luminance Gain - 54353 fL/fc ~ 17310 cd/m^2/lx
    EBI - .18 µlx ~ 1.8 x 10^-11 phot
    1 x L3 OMNI VII (7) Unfilmed Image Intensifier P43 Phosphor
    FOM 1952
    SNR - 30.5
    Resolution - 64lp/mm
    Luminance Gain - 66398 fL/fc ~ 21146cd/m^2/lx
    EBI - 0.3 x 10^-11 phot
    1 x ITT OMNI VI (6) t-filmed Image Intensifier P43 Phosphor
    FOM 1964
    SNR - 30.6
    Resolution - 64lp/mm
    Luminance Gain - 68497 fL/fc ~ 21814 cd/m^2/lx
    EBI - 1.3 x 10^-11 phot
1 x Samsung NX Mini Camera
    3 x Litton 0.667x Relay Lens P/N 206812-100
    3 x Litton M944 Night Vision Housings
    1 x Litton 27mm f/1.2 t/1.3P/N 209950-100
    1 x Litton 75mm f/1.3 t/1.35
    1 x Pulsar L-915 Class 1 (eye safe) 915nm Infrared Laser Illuminator. www.pulsar-nv.c...
To eliminate as many variables as possible, a single 3x objective lens was swapped between each of the 3 Litton M944 housings. The quantity of each component used in this video is listed above.

Song? Nada in description. I think its an instrumental of I see fire but what version?

Yes, "I See Fire" (Kygo Remix) soundcloud.com/kygo/ed-sheeran-i-see-fire-kygo. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Where can I find that Litton setup (the m944)? And the image circle still doesn't cover a 1 inch sensor?

    • @cnoct
      @cnoct  3 года назад +1

IMO, the Litton 0.667x relay lens is a prefect match for 1" sensor formats. The sensor coverage, on the horizontal, is just about total, any more coverage on this plane and the resolution will start to suffer as the screen/FO output is magnified.
As far as tracking down an M944 housing with relay lens (P/N 206812-100), it's going to be time consuming and costly. To start, try the following:
      nait.com
      nightline-inc.com
      nvincorporated.com
      www.wilcoxeng-res.com
Alternatively, you could look on auction sites or place WTB ads on various NV forums 🖖🏻.

@@cnoct Thanks man, that is a lot of helpful info. Any recommendations for forums? I'm not on any. I see you used a different monocular for your MFT camera, why was that?

Stopped using the micro four thirds GF1 once I switched to the 1" sensor Samsung NX mini. As for the NV system, that would have been dependent on what I was trying to achieve with what lenses etc... I switch all the time, sometimes will use a 14, an F6010 and a M944 all for the same scene, just depends on what I'm after 🤘.
      No forum recommendations.

@@cnoct Thank you sir. What's the mounting / relay system for the 14? That would be convenient for me, since those housings are readily available.

@@westsidecamper Camera lens to eyepiece or Camera lens to FO output sans ocular, depends on the camera and lens combination.

Wow, that INTENS tube is almost worthless with an EBI of 1.8... even the t-film has better EBI,.... That L3 unfilmed tube you have is simply put, gorgeous...
