Nice video! Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Oludah Equiano was an Igbo NIGERIAN,
He was of Igbo ethnicity.
His real name was Oluda Ekweano corrupted as Oludah Equiano.
That sounds like a yoruba name funny enough. Oluda
Thank you for sharing this story. Keep sharing!!!❤🙏🏿♥️
Thanks! I am glad you liked the video. It is sad that he is many times overlooked in history. He was an amazing person!
I'm doing a recitation of one of his speech's and I found this video very pleasing to discover a little more about the creator.

Hello from Canada! I just finished watching "Enslaved" on CBC documentary & it led me here cuz i wanted to know more about this man who was a slave and became prominent in the freeing of slaves. Thank you for this vid.
Thanks I’m glad you found the video helpful. He was a very inspirational figure in history. He overcame so much.
He is from my tribe, Igbo. I have goosebumps hearing that he stayed in Philadelphia, the city I live.
He documetned that he was Hebrew and that many of the customs of his tribe were of Hebraic origin
Olaudah Equiano is from my Ashaka (Essaka/Eshiaka) community. The Traders that Olaudah Equiano referred to were natives from the neighbouring EBOE community, whom he addressed as ONYE-EBOE, which word have been confused with the word OYIBO, which a modern word used to refer to Europeans or White men. Olaudah Equiano stated clearly that in his village he had never seen or heard of White men or Europeans. Thanks from us @ #OlaudahEquianoHeritageFoundationNigeria #ArohAnthony
I feel every company started with enslaved Africans or money made from the enslaved plantations who kidnapped Africans and their families should have to pay the families of those who were kidnapped from Africa and tortured by the evil colonizers the british Portuguese French and Spain who took part in the Atlantic slave trade should be held accountable to as well should have to pay restitution and ect to the families of those enslaved period.
What about the descendants of the Africans who captured and sold the slaves to the Europeans ? , I am inclined to agree with reparations from those who profited from slavery , the owners in the British Empire were compensated with the UK taxpayer footing the bill , the resulting loan taken out by the UK Government has only been paid in full in the last twenty years or so .
Great post!!!! Bajan History is SO DEEP!!
Deuteronomy 28:32

32 Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in thine hand.

I've just visited his daughter's grave. She rests less than a mile from where I live, where there is a local bridge dedicated to him.
this man is a pioneer of his time and did a great service to freeing people and slaves. I wish I was born in those times because I would help those people. But to say this is still going on today is ludicrous. People of all races have choices and freedom now. Comparing now to back then is an insult to those beautiful people who suffered through slavery.
Thank you so much
You are welcome!
Thank God for this video because of it I got a+
Glad it helped out!

Hello American literature
We will never ever forgive what they did to us and still are doing 😡😡
EXACTLY
Who is they and we? The Black African blacksmith that first enslaved this man which was conveniently skipped over in this video? Just like it’s always skipped over? The ‘we’ being fellow Africans? Or are you white complaining about the Barbary Slave Trade?
yes
My question is.. why they keep doing this like fr fr I dead ass wanna know ?? And truth only
if there's no forgiveness, then there's no reason to apologize lmao.
Thanks for the good vid. 🤪🤪
Thanks!
He doesn't have an Igbo name its more close to Yoruba something is very strange about all this
😂 keep dreaming. I read his book and he said he is igbo. Let me give you a simple assignment, go search what the word ola means in igbo and search what uda means in igbo then you’ll get what his name means. I don’t want to be the one to say it but i want you to do the discovery yourself. His surname is ekweano which is a common name in igbo and his father’s name is okonkwo, i didn’t know Yoruba people bear okonkwo? 😂

When Olaudah was living in Nigeria as a boy, was it Europeans that came to trade in his village? Where does it specifically say that they were Europeans? I would like to re-read that part.
I just you just watch the video but didn’t get the context. The narrator clearly said that Europeans when to the young man village to trade gun and other items for captives and criminals.
@@meltyson Thank you for this response. Can you please tell me where it says in the book itself that it was Europeans specifically who came to his village?
@Osas👌 I read the book. I remember the scene from the book that he is talking about in the video. It was not Europeans, but other African tribes that came to his village to capture him and take him away for slavery. I would like to know of any quote from the book that states that it was Europeans who came to capture him from his village.
