Phoebe, if overhaul is expensive try buying or replacing with a good (used) engine like Toyota, the body of your van is still good needs few fixes and
after all maybe redecorate your interior, it is a good learning experience rebuilding your van, it maybe sad this time but if all the mud, twigs, rocks and all in it
removed and all you see is an empty van you will be inspired to decorate it better this time. Good luck and stay safe.
