How did I miss this video....? Simple is good - and I even understand it - which means I'll be able to use it (maybe/probably modified) for other things as well. And the appreciation came once I realised that the rhthym is absolutely essential to making it work!
Easy and great sounding licks for a mysterious yet passionate song. Particularly the first one, which already stresses the important notes, they call out for embellishment and variations, so we can personalise them. Thanks again.😎🎸
Hi Robin, GREAT awesome-sounding lesson to add to the collection of your previous genius laden greats. Perhaps you might continue this lesson with another similar set of speedy pull-offs for the subsequent chords in the 2nd set of licks for Dark Eyes similar to what you did with the 1st set of licks over the entire tune? You're my ongoing, total hero at bringing Gypsy Jazz to the appreciating masses like me. Cordially, Bob S.
Boaaab Stoen thanks for the kind words mate I’m happy the lessons are helping! I take a deeper dive into Dark Eyes in my Gypsy Jazz Transfusion Club. We’ll be sending out details on how to join that soon. Cheers! Robin

@@GypsyJazzSecrets Well, in fact not... I don't see you play a lick with a B natural at all. I am talking about that first lick where you play Bb over the dm chord. As long as it is a dm it will work but that dm will often be played as a dm6, hence my question.
@@josdurkstraful I understand your original question now. Yes so indeed the lick will work over the D minor here. Sometimes I play the same lick with a B natural and also works just different flavors. When you play in a minor key like in Dark Eyes the Bb sounds good. Thanks for subscribing stay Inspired! 🙌
Lol I been learning to play for just a few months so I'm just picking. This dont sound anything like how I play in my beginners book for the dark eyes song
I love the way you unlock songs with simple but usable ideas. Thank again for helping an old man like me ease his way into playing gypsy jazz
Thanks and welcome! 🙏💕🎸Robin

Always nice 🪗🤪🎻🪶
hey Rob if you ever get a chance could you go through the chord changes for "I'll see you in my dreams"
toz71 cool mate that’s a beauty with lots of nice changes 👍Robin
I especially like the howard alden version. Absolutely brilliant videos Rob. Keep up the good work :)
toz71 Love Howard!
In that 1st lick, will that work when the chord is dm6 (because of the natural B in the chord)?
The 1st lick has a Bb in it not B natural so works for the A7 not the Dm. The 2nd lick has the B natural so works nicely over the Dm. Make sense?
