There is one thing about the lead singer Asami that goes a long way towards explaining her stage presence. She is a classically trained ballet dancer and she brings that flowing elegance and visual theatricality to her stage performance. I think it is particularly evident in this performance where she fills the stage like some ethereal fairy Goddess. Bear in mind that the swan song has classical allusions from Greek mythology expressed in classical music by such composers as Schubert or Telemann and in works of literature by authors and poets such as Tennyson and Shakespear. Then of course there is Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet into which modern adaptations of Camille Saint-Saens solo dance "The Dying Swan" (originally written for Anna Pavlova) have been inserted. This theme, therefore, ticks all the boxes in Miyako's classical training and Asami's ballet background. There is deep thought that goes into the composition of Lovebites' music and its influences.

I'm so glad you featured this song, because it's one of my favorite songs from the band, and I think it's the most classical music-leaning of the Lovebites. Miyako's solo is very good, but Midori's solo is also great, and the overall structure of the song is brilliant. The rhythm section in this song is very orchestral, which makes the vocals and guitar solo come alive. Bravo!

Hey, GG! I live just an hour driving or one and half hour on train from that Zepp diver city but I was "not" there! Call me stupid! Call me trash, punish me. I have a good reason to smash my head into the wall, the wall of Zepp....by the way, I noticed that you haven't reacted to "Epilogue" yet. I mean you don't have to but I just want to make it sure you have listened to it. And I call Haruna the pocket dynamo which every musician wants to carry one in his pocket. It's amazing that she keeps performing the same at the end of the stage, all through beginning to end!
Thank you for your reaction. I have enjoyed the classical influence in rock music for years. You have already picked up on the Beethoven, in the opening chords of Winds Of Transylvania. 😀
Too much Love(bites) will kill you. Japan women rockers give a new level of quality to "old" western rock music (were comercially it's almost dead), that's why they hook me in the last year. That "old" speed and trash from Lovebites, that "old" hard rock from Band-Maid, the epic symphonic with speed and death metal from Unlucky Morpheus and so on. They all mix and shake the genres with mastery, like a reborn golden era of rock similar (you ear this in Lovebites with your comparations with Iron Maiden, Metallica and Motley Crue) but also different, perfected in some sense if not original. You can't be wrong with the bands I mentioned but, in the vein of tribute to the "old" rock, maybe you can react to the tribute song to Angra's singer (the late André Matos) made by Unlucky Morpheus called "Carry On Singing To the Sky", it's less technical than their other songs but for me has a lot of heart and give hope for die hard rockers. For me Lovebites, Band-Maid and unlucky Morpheus became a trinity of awesomeness and the three have been releasing non stop in the last couple of years. ruclips.net/video/UlpAWv1PQ8w/видео.html
@@akaalexanderking Yes, and Fuki sings in English whole song, i think it's the first full English Unlucky Morpheus song. Also Angra is one of Midori's favorite bands! Kiko Loureiro is a beast, such a good pickup for Megadeth, the song Conquer or Die, WOW! The album with Chris Adler (one of my biggest influences) on drums, is an excellent album, think the name is Dystopia.
Yes "Carry On Singing To The Sky" is a very heartfelt song, I couldn't hold back my tears the first time listening to that song cause Angra (and especially Andre Matos) is one of my all-time favorite metal bands.
So, Chopin piece is not on their album (I have the album). But, they bookended the Chopin "Revolutionary Etude" Op 10. No. 12 with the ending outro with Miyako's composed piece. As you may know, I think they did it on purpose here on the live set. The Etude came out at the time of the failed uprising in Warsaw Poland in 1831 under the Russian occupation. And Chopin would never set foot back on his beloved motherland. Plus, "Swan Song" is an ode to fallen warriors as lyrics talk about (Asami wrote it) gallant warriors, brave soldiers, beautiful swan, death, floating lotus, saintly and glorious and legend of swan. The outro represents death of swan per Asami in an interview. It is a beautiful metal song, not a happy song mind you. But, it definitely captures the intention. And very fitting for a metal song. By the way, if you notice there is a trend here. Every single Japanese rock/metal bands have at least one genius among them: Miyako in Lovebites, Kanami in Band-Maid, Shiren (he composes all the songs) in Unlucky Morpheus, Yoshiki of X-Japan and it goes on.
Reaction videos by musicians are more fulfilling. I like the true appreciation and breakdown of the music. I am running out out of words to describe this band. They are that good. Have you done Raise some Hell or Scream for me? Dig your channel.
A favorite metal song of mine. Love this song this band. Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites are just phenomenal. I will take Midori and Miyako as my guitarists. Kanami, Saki and Hazuki also. And Merel Bechtold.

Your facial expressions say it all. It's such a shame that Lovebites isn't known better in the world. If they would have been already there in the 1980's, their name would be mentioned in a row with the likes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon and the likes...
According to Miyako, she doesn't like the feel of that Roland piano due to having plastic keys, but it came in white so she uses it for the concerts. Hopefully she will be able to get wooden keys so she fully enjoys her instrument.
The verses are actually a ballad that is transformed by Haruna and Miho into Metal. Were those two to play at the tempo of the melody it would be obvious. Midori's lead 'under' the ending choral section is something she does on numerous songs. I will admit to a hint of frustration that the camera is taken from her when doing so. Midori is also a highly trained pianist of many years who began playing guitar at age 20 (as well as a medical education and qualified pharmacist).
@@akaalexanderking Yes, a quality that Miyako justifiably gets credit for much more often, but all of them are at least multi-instrumentalists and compose music and lyrics.
Swan Song has Miyako written all over it and you can obviously tell, like you said this could easily been a classical piano piece. She plays piano since age 3, classically trained, picked up the guitar at 18. Midori picked up guitar at 19/20 years old. Haruna is always so solid on the drums, always smiling like its nothing! And Miho on the bass often overlooked, but there's one thing she shines the most, her headbanging! Best headbanger in the band by far. And Asami's vocals fantastic, especially the chorus, so powerful! Also dont forget Asami is the main lyricist, and they have beautiful lyrics. One thing i'd like to add is, most Lovebites songs are composed mainly by Miyako (dark hair guitarist/piano) but the last song "Glory to the World" is actually a Midori composition (Blonde guitarist). Looking forward to the next one! Stay safe.
One thing that i find interesting though: Their lyrics always have some positive vibes on an emotional basis, but what i do miss sometimes is something like storytelling, like a story told from the beginning to the end without repetitions. Iron Maiden are the undisputed masters with this. Maybe its the language barrier, but otherwise they are utterly fantastic...
Absolutely, Iron Maiden are unmatched when it comes to that, at least in metal. If we extend the conversion to other genres as well the room starts to get crowded :)
@@oreinigpb Songs like Empty Daydream, Liar, The Unbroken etc are heartbreaking. They speak of broken relationships and controlling behaviour by abusive partners.
@@ChrisPage68 All true, but it is always about emotions, relationships and feelings etc. The lyrical lines often seem to be somewhat disconnected. Perhaps it is my personal thing, but i think that is the single aspect where they have the most room for improvement. Musicalwise they are very close to perfection, especially when they mix classical themes and motives with metal....
I could not avoid subscribing your channel. Etude and Swan Song compose one suite in my opinion. Etude was written for raise of Polish rebels against Russian rule and defeat. It is said Shopin wrote this in anger and desperation. Then Swan Song, It is a song about the death of hero, sacrifice and honor, and glory. Hence those two pieces make a suite. Talking about Asami's body action, she used to be a ballerina. Your explanations and comments are so nice.
One more thing. It's about the attitude of Lovebites toward music. This symbolizes something. Haruna and Miho and Saki of Mary's Blood were playing together formerly as Destrose but broke up. I think I know why. Saki is as good as Midori or Miyako but difference is Saki shows off her skill than play good music but Midori and Miyako give priority to melody which is the quality of music. Likewise every other members of Lovebites watch the coordination and ensemble of the sound and try to support other members. Top notch musician cooperate to make good music, the answer is Lovebites. That the secret. You have to careful when you show off your skill. Never forget your skill is for making good sound.

Bravo!
Couldn't have said it better myself. I wonder if this has been arranged as a piano piece!
@@akaalexanderking You can hear piano throughout if you listen carefully. It's back in the mix.
I've noticed that in the studio version. Needless to say it's already in my playlists. 😁
Thanks for your reaction nice again. I just want to suggest If you are curious to see another face of those amazing ladies please check the song Epilogue from their previous concert Daughters of the down from 2019.
Thanks a lot Vasil, writing in down 👍🏻
MIYAKO TERRYFING TALENT....react EPILOGUE...play piano and play emotional guitar solo...and WE BE UNITED....twins guitars solo crazy
It's on the list ;)
first 4 bars of Miyako solo is using the same melody with Chopin's Etude. thats why she picked this song as an intro. and I believe the meaning of the lyric relates with Revolutionary too
Great reaction!
Chopin is not the only motif employed. Miyako says the chorus melody of this song is based on Dvorak: Symphony No.9 , "From the New World".
Such a fantastic piece of music. Thanks for sharing that Marauri :)
this performance has propelled Lovebites to a level above all the other metal acts i have seen since 1970 . Ridiculous skill and feel. This is the watermark boys , top this. All the growling and testosterone on earth aint gonna do it. Miyako is a genius.
She is, no doubts about that. What a band!
Tanks for reacted to my recomended.
Thank you for recommending this!

Thank you for watching :) absolutely, Beethoven is my favorite composer 😁
Thanks as always for your comment Hernán. Love me some Angra, very curious to listen to that tribute 🤘🏻
Hell yeah, Dystopia was a killer record!
Yes "Carry On Singing To The Sky" is a very heartfelt song, I couldn't hold back my tears the first time listening to that song cause Angra (and especially Andre Matos) is one of my all-time favorite metal bands.
I'm willing to risk the consequences of being in love with Lovebites. It is better to die for a noble cause than to live without purpose.
C Minor from the etude and then throughout Swan Song. It's a brilliant composition, they are world-class, female or male.
Perfectly said 🤘🏻
Have you done Epilogue from the Daughters of the Dawn concert? It's a classic. 💕🎸👍
Not yet, but it's on the list ;)
Miho Miho Miho!

A bit like the coda of the Swan Lake. Gorgeous. Thanks for the insights!
Reaction videos by musicians are more fulfilling. I like the true appreciation and breakdown of the music. I am running out out of words to describe this band. They are that good. Have you done Raise some Hell or Scream for me? Dig your channel.

@@akaalexanderking Sure, anytime
A favorite metal song of mine. Love this song this band. Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites are just phenomenal. I will take Midori and Miyako as my guitarists. Kanami, Saki and Hazuki also. And Merel Bechtold.
This scene is really poppin'. And I'm not complaining 😍
A total experience. What should I react to next? :)
thrash - Break the Wall, Hammer of Wrath, Thunder Vengeance, M.D.O
ballads - Edge of the World, Empty Daydream, Epilogue
others - Raise Some Hell, Addicted, Shadowmaker, The Crusade (tribute song to Iron Maiden), Dont bite the Dust
all LIVE!
They also have a cover from the band Helloween - Eagle Fly Free (Helloween is the drummer Haruna favorite band)
Thanks!
《under the red sky》live please🙏🏻
Edge of the world is something you will really like - even more of a journey inside the song than this one....

Loto galleggiante
Sei così grazioso
Santo e glorioso
Fino alla fine dei tempi
Loto galleggiante
Sei così bello
Cantami la tua dolce canzone
La leggenda del cigno
Grazie :)
Your facial expressions say it all. It's such a shame that Lovebites isn't known better in the world. If they would have been already there in the 1980's, their name would be mentioned in a row with the likes of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon and the likes...
Agreed, hopefully once the pandemic is over they'll be able to headline yours in the rest of the world and get bigger and bigger 🤘🏻
According to Miyako, she doesn't like the feel of that Roland piano due to having plastic keys, but it came in white so she uses it for the concerts. Hopefully she will be able to get wooden keys so she fully enjoys her instrument.
Lovebites, next song epilogue.
Edge of the world out today Samuel ;)
The verses are actually a ballad that is transformed by Haruna and Miho into Metal. Were those two to play at the tempo of the melody it would be obvious. Midori's lead 'under' the ending choral section is something she does on numerous songs. I will admit to a hint of frustration that the camera is taken from her when doing so. Midori is also a highly trained pianist of many years who began playing guitar at age 20 (as well as a medical education and qualified pharmacist).
Wow, she's a jack of all trades!
@@akaalexanderking Yes, a quality that Miyako justifiably gets credit for much more often, but all of them are at least multi-instrumentalists and compose music and lyrics.
And that always helps to keep the level of the music high on the long term
Yes! I also got Motley Crue vibes for that riff. Much easier to look at also.
They surely are ahahah 🤘🏻
Next song Eagle fly free cover 🤘👍

ここのCMやばいです。
Stay safe.
Thanks Jorge, insightful as always :)
GALNERYUS (Attitude to life )please!
Stay tuned ;)
I could not avoid subscribing your channel. Etude and Swan Song compose one suite in my opinion. Etude was written for raise of Polish rebels against Russian rule and defeat. It is said Shopin wrote this in anger and desperation. Then Swan Song, It is a song about the death of hero, sacrifice and honor, and glory. Hence those two pieces make a suite. Talking about Asami's body action, she used to be a ballerina. Your explanations and comments are so nice.
Thanks a lot for the support, deeply appreciate it 🙏🏻

Thanks for the suggestion Aurelio!
@@akaalexanderking Keep up the good work bro! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks man, I'll try my best to! 🤘🏻
It's all one video.
Couldn't agree more. There is a fantastic balance within the band that is not that easy to achieve, especially when this much talent is involved
@@akaalexanderking Indeed. Talented musicians are usually egoists.
@@gatograto good "teamplayer" guitarists are very rare. with M&M lovebites has two of them. machiya from wagakki band is also one.
@@CaffeineNightOwl Oh, Machiya! Yes, yes.

I'd say it's skills more than talent ;)
And I say its talent that develop's the skill
