@@christophpawlowskimusic213 Its because the 4 SIGMA Primes for RF-S just released last Tuesday 19... RF FF has a long way to go but this is still big for lots of people who use RF-S
What this means is many people, not just Canon shooters, are hopeful that third party lenses are coming to RF mount. I'm interested in Canon's crop sensor bodies with third party lenses.
Australia just passed a Social Media ban for under 16 year olds. A massivley rushed through bill that raises more questions than answers, but a ban never the less. Will make an interesting case study. Much like the Patriot Act, once it is passed, there aint no way it will get repealed.

Love my Leica. Worth every nickel. For the record, I'm not a doctor nor do I drive a Porsche. There's magic in the combo of the lens and sensor in the Q3 that makes it a joy to shoot with. Just sayin.
Canon should allow all third party manufacturers to make lenses for them. It's obvious that they want to control their lens market to funnel money directly to them, but the reality is that third party glass won't hurt them that much and would instead encourage people to come to the system and make current users happy. People who can afford the high end Canon glass will still buy Canon glass. The hobbyists who buy third party lenses aren't the same people who buy L lenses. I'll use a simple 24-70 f2.8 as an example. Right now the only option for hobbyists are no lens at all, or a $2,200 Canon lens. It doesn't make sense. A ~$1,000-1,200 24-70 f2.8 option from a third party manufacturer isn't going to deny a sale of Canon glass since it was never going to be purchased by the hobbyist in the first place. The hobbyist gets a cool lens and stays a happy Canon shooter, and Canon gains positive sentiment while not giving up anything. It's a win. Sure, some pros would opt for cheaper third party lenses, but it wouldn't be the norm.
I love your work. Images from the Leica Q3 which I have used briefly, are unlike anything else on the market today. So yes, while Leica cameras are overpriced, some deliver excellence like no other.
Well, the 16mm f1.4, if it is sharper than what Canon has to offer, it will be on my list. I have an EOS R10 and the current 16mm, from the reviews I have watched say, it just isn't sharp enough for what I need. Wish they would have opened up the RF Mount for Full Frame, so, I guess I will get an adapter to purchase EF lenses for my RP. Canon, some of us are not made of money, not in today's economy, and that is why we choose used most of the time over new, from sources like KEH.
Canon uses noise reduction in their RAW image output which Nikon does not. Go to Photons to Photos. That's why I like Nikon, they don't do this. You have no way to shut that off in Canon, so you don't have any control. This is why Canon appears cleaner to an uptrained eye.
It costs a lot less to reverse engineer than to create products. If it was your business would you want pirates that didn’t create any of the products to clone your product and sell to your customers cheaper because they had no R&D costs? It’s still a business. All that will happen is that the products will start to stagnate and innovation will slow to a crawl. Companies have to be allowed to protect their products with patents.
Maybe Canon is allowing Sigma to start with APS-C, like a test run for non pro cameras. If all goes well, in a few years, perhaps Canon will finally allow full frame lenses for semi and pro cameras. Would be nice. Happy Thanksgiving!
Because of how the licencing for the mount works, which Canon own the mount. Im sure someone can explain the details in more depth but Canon basicly have too give the 3rd party manifacturers the licence to make their mount
Because its not just the mount, its has proprietary electronics especially to use AF which is what SIGMA want to make and you need permission to license and sell? Else you can only make manual focus lens with the RF mount.
Why do budget photographers need new RF glass when the amazing EF stuff already exists, is gonna be cheaper than anything new that comes out and still gonna be 95%+ of the performance?

Nikon have been enjoying these 6 Sigma primes on APS-C Z mount for quite a while now. Canon only allowing it now on their crop mount. Very sharp though. I had a Sigma 16mm F1.4 on my Canon M-mount awhile ago but since sold the lens for a Nikon system, very sharp on the Canon M6 camera.
I AGREE! Meta scares me. I'll be flipping through IG, looking at cars (cause that is mostly my thing), then next thing I know Meta is suggesting to me some young teen or even child dancing in a bikini or something inappropriate, because some so called "Modeling agency" or "Photography Agency" is posting those pictures... It's freaking gross, I don't get it.. How is this a thing that is allowed.....
Those Sigma lenses are a Scam! be ware! They bring out those 4 boring APC primes , then nothing. They did it for Fuji , Nikon and now Canon too , only loyal to Sony and the L mount booo! Sigma booo!
I don't think you have an idea of what an actual scam is... For quite some years, Nikon and Canon prohibited third party lens makers to develop lenses for their mounts. Nikon opened it up some time ago, and Canon is still being difficult by only allowing lenses for crop cameras. And in the case of Fuji, I think their crop cameras are the ones that perform the best for them in terms of sales numbers. So it makes absolute sense for Sigma to make a couple of APS-C lenses, which they then can adapt to the different mounts. They tap into the market of Sony, the L-Mount systems, Fuji's best-selling cameras, Nikon APS-C users, and they can also offer them to Canon users, because that's the only thing they are allowed to do at the moment on that platform... How is that a scam?!?! If anything, it's a smart business decision on their part, and it offers APS-C users some nice extra prime lens options. That's a good thing.
End of the day, we all want FULL FRAME third party lenses for Canon, not just aps-c, but don't expect that to happen anytime soon.
so nothing new about RF mount? very clickbaity but i gotta admit that it worked

What happened to Zeiss the premium DSLR lens brand? Haven't seen much happening with them in years. Nothing big and wow coming from them.
The new WRX TS looks neat.
I just found out there's more than one crop sensor Canon R body. Still can't be enough to justify selling these over the FF versions, though.

Canon needs to make (and permit) higher-quality but tiny primes for full frame.
Why would Sigma need Canon's permission to sell lenses for the RF mount anyway?
Because they’ll get sued otherwise?
