Finally something to write home about. At least I can afford to arrive early on my return trips so I can chill before leaving. Waiting at Lungi for a return flight was very depressing because of how claustrophobic and mediocre the waiting hall was. This looks impressive and first world standard. Kudos to the government for this one.

We fly into and transit through beautiful and clean airports around the world and only wished we had anything close in our own country. This is great and definitely something to be proud of as a Sierra Leonean. The airport is the very first impression. The old FNA was definitely a national embarrassment

This is very good for Sierra Leone 🇸🇱. My only recommendation is that, the government should construct a decent road from the airport terminal to the ferry terminal, with a very good street light. This can surely give courage to travelers when crossing the sea to Freetown. Moreover, they should not allow every jack business outside the vicinity of the airport. Again, every private structure built around the new airport terminal, should be inline with government approval with standard outlook, because this might give a negative or positive reflection or outlook on the beauty of the airport. Finally, ferry ⛴️ transport should be restructured to modern standards. Sometimes when you travel from Freetown to lungi, people will be disordered all over the ferry, trash everywhere. There should be control. Development is a process. This has been achieved. We need more.

Definitely! Our country and people deserve nothing but the best.
I’m happy to see such development in Mama Salone. It looks nicer than the old structure. However I think the terminal building is one of so many facilities that makes AN AIRPORT.
Some of these facilities to which ‘The Terminal Building’ is part of are:
Runways, Taxiways & Aprons.
Runway- and Taxiway Bridges.
Passenger Terminals.
Cargo Facilities.
Air Traffic Control Buildings.
Hangars.
Maintenance Facilities.
Fire and Rescue Facilities.
From the above listed, what we are seeing is one out of several structures.
I don’t know if the control tower is a new one or it’s still the same.
Is the run way the same or has it been expanded?
What of maintenance section. hangars.
As a suggestion, part of the older building can be used for Maintenance, Cargo facilities and Administrative Offices including central room to monitor all “working “ cameras and security checks.

When you travel and arrive, you will learn that they separated the old airport to the new one, in the sense, there is a vast distance away from the old airport. So everything here you see is a new structure. All the facilities you outlined are found on this new one

This project was probably not well publicised until now. That's why people are asking whether its entirely separate from the old airport. I now know that its an entirely new airport. FANTASTIC JOB!
The next project for the second term should be providing pipe-borne water to Freetown with River Rokel as its source. This will cement the legacy of this government.

That area is not Freetown , the area is lungi .The name of the airport which registered to the international airport is lungi . Freetown doesn’t have any airport registered.Hasting have a small airport in Sierra Leone

The crossing of ferries from Freetown city centre to Sierra Leone's airport in Lunge is still a bigger problem that need to be fixed. Second hand ferries are taking precious Sierra Leone lives every year just to reach Lunge airport in Freetown, and this need to stop.
It would be nice to build a new airport in Sierra Leone that can be easily reached through motorways rather than sea crossing which continues to take lives of love ones in Freetown while returning home for a visit or leaving Freetown for a trip abroad.

It's very nice!! We hope the roads to the those boats will be fixed, that's were the shame lies right now. The owners of those businesses should be held accountable.
Why so many people? They need to give the workers room to do their work. We are going to have a new salone. Next is the hospital. We need a hospital in lungai. You can’t have something that massive without an hospital.
A decided leap UP from the previous airport which I visited in 2018. There was also talk of building a bridge from Lungi to Freetown. What is happening with that? I fear for what will happen to the boat operators once that bridge is built.
