thus works because REPT yields a string amd string+ number yields a string so the cell entry is now a string.
but now if you wamted to total the numbers it would not work
better i think to change the cell format to 000#

Use ctrl+1 instead and add “000” before number in custom format

If we change column in TEXT format i think that will work

yes, it would work 👌 since the result of the rept function is aligned to the left hand side of the cell, it's recognized by excel as text value. Same as simple formatted cell as text 👍
