Having been interested in ww 2 and the holocaust for over 40 years I learned a lot from this interview. I wish we could have heard every story he had to tell, if it took days, weeks, months, however long. I feel that the stories that were never told about this ghastly epoch will be missing from the world's records and every bit of it is important. There has never been anything so evil in history as this. There were wars and genocides where more people were killed but nothing has risen to the level of organized brutality as this to my knowledge. That is why Hitler is the most hated human of all time. Thank God for the allies and the bravery of people like Thomas who put a stop to it. I feel like I learned something more about human nature today. I pray for every soul who was touched or brutalized by this unimaginable wickedness. May we truly assure that something like this will never again happen by human hands, and may we as a people eliminate all brutally towards ourselves and every other living creature, every thing living has the spark of God within it and deserves a hallowed respect, and without that we can never ascend to what we all were created to be. 🙏
I have enjoyed listening to Tom but this is a very long story but we’ll worth it! I’m so happy your survived this horrific atrocity brought about on your people!
Mr Blatt was an amazing man. He never stopped working on making people aware of the Sobibor camp, and on how the National Socialists tormented people in Poland.
A Jewish woman ,who was a Plasczow forced labor camp, survivor was hired to advise the actors, set designers, etc. on Schindler’s List. When Finnes was introduced to her in his SS Commandant’s uniform she fainted. When revived she said that Feinnes so resembled Goeth, that she thought it was actually him. .
he lived only 40 miles from the camp in todays travel that a 1 hrs drive or less but in war a 100 feet is a mile so very risky run ( he reveals very interesting facts of this camp and its surrounding he also lived down road of the trawninki training camp north west of his town)
I have listened to a couple of these testimonies and was able to understand the survivor. But there were many passages in this testimony that I could not understand at all. I think it would be appropriate to have this testimony captioned. Thank you.

I don't like the interviewer's tone of voice at times, particularly at 2:21:51. It sounds like she is passing judgement and you can see that he felt as though he had to defend himself. Her role in this type of interview should be neutral and non-leading.

It was upsetting to me when the interviewer raised her voice & sound accusatory at 2:22. Thankfully, that tone vanished as Mr. Toivi pointed out he was just a kid, not a leader. (She hadn't understood that another young escapee's legs having been broken by two of the other escapees, to prevent him from dragging them down, was "ugly.") Running for one's life is not ugly!
"Given the right circumstances, it (civilization/) would crack and the beast come out." I keep thinking about the thinness of civilization and democracy.

A thought…each one of these born, blood of Jehovahs Jewish children have their own story. Each and every one of them have a different story from the next but sadly, the ending of their stories end in death. Death either from a family member, a child, a mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, nieces and nephew or friend.
he has a couple of books I believe
I first learned of this escape and Toivi from the film of 1987. Amazing.
I have enjoyed listening to Tom but this is a very long story but we’ll worth it! I’m so happy your survived this horrific atrocity brought about on your people!
Mr Blatt was an amazing man. He never stopped working on making people aware of the Sobibor camp, and on how the National Socialists tormented people in Poland.
wow -- he met Frenzel at the end.
I just heard that bit. I never knew he’d met him before. Wow.
A Jewish woman ,who was a Plasczow forced labor camp, survivor was hired to advise the actors, set designers, etc. on Schindler’s List. When Finnes was introduced to her in his SS Commandant’s uniform she fainted. When revived she said that Feinnes so resembled Goeth, that she thought it was actually him. .
That's incredible
Rip. Im sorry for all the hell you had to endure
Great explanation i hope i visit sobibor one day
he lived only 40 miles from the camp in todays travel that a 1 hrs drive or less but in war a 100 feet is a mile so very risky run ( he reveals very interesting facts of this camp and its surrounding he also lived down road of the trawninki training camp north west of his town)
Thank you❤❤😔
I have listened to a couple of these testimonies and was able to understand the survivor. But there were many passages in this testimony that I could not understand at all. I think it would be appropriate to have this testimony captioned. Thank you.
In your settings, you can change the speed of the playback. If you put that on .75, he is much easier to understand.
Maybe you gotta turn up your hearing aid…he’s petty easy to understand..
It did have captions.
The interviewer should not of asked him but you left them too abandoned the others. He had a great response i was a kid i was not a leader . He was right he was a child. where did her question come from? And why would she ask that. Amazing story glad he Survived wish all of them had.
At 1:42:05 where the subtitles say it is 'inaudible,' he says "that's the routine."
There should be many courses taught based on this information
I don't like the interviewer's tone of voice at times, particularly at 2:21:51. It sounds like she is passing judgement and you can see that he felt as though he had to defend himself. Her role in this type of interview should be neutral and non-leading.
She’s very rude and abrupt to wards Mr Blatt
Agree with you.
Amazing.
e duro e tramatico al princípio 🤔. ver sofrimento. q viveram. esse povo. em um campo de esterminio. e com garra e determinação. alguns. sobreviveram. Guerreros e toive blatte hj e 2023. ainda e vivo 👉💪. 👉🇧🇷
Movies about the sobibor uprising and escape:

‘Sobibor’ 2018 (on Tubi)
God bless him
Hope if he find faith again ,beutiful sad story thanks
God Bless him ❤️
God bless him, wonder if he ever heard of Janek Knopcheck after the war ?
God bless 🙌 🙏 you always
Toivi is a true genius! Thank goodness he instantly played dead after he was shot . I so very much wonder if he ever saw that farmer again, it would've been a hilarious & gratifying encounter to watch that greedy farmer faint! Also wonder if he ever saw his former schoolmate, Janek Knopzcek again, that guy was no good! Toivi is the famous one!
God bless you!....❤
I'm afraid my bowels would have evacuated as soon as I saw guards
God bless his memory.

Thank you - slow death is designed to sap resistance until it is too late. Unfortunately it works.
Thank you so much ✡️
The guard who asked for money so he could give them some good advice, that being to hang themselves, since they 'were going to die anyway', deserves a special place in Hell. Not that there is such a place, unless it would have existed in all the death camps in WWll.
sempre assistindo. essas entrevista desses Guerreros sobreviventes. posta mas ser forem vivos só vi 1 entrevita com sobrevive. scholomo q imigrou para o 👉🇧🇷.
2:40 how did the Russian officer understand what Blatt was saying?
Regardless, Thomas lived with a bullet in his jaw since 1944. I don’t have words to describe how much respect I have for him.
❤🌹
Amazing that even in today's world 🌎 that human beings still have a belief that they are somehow born more equal than others...💞🫂💞 ☆ Remember who you are ☆ so this can never happen again.
Live Life and Love Life ❣️ 🫂 ❣️
Wonderful & Beautiful day's ahead Y'all
A thought…each one of these born, blood of Jehovahs Jewish children have their own story. Each and every one of them have a different story from the next but sadly, the ending of their stories end in death. Death either from a family member, a child, a mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, nieces and nephew or friend. The ones who survived this horrific crime I’m sure have never had a nights sleep where they don’t have a thought of complete sadness!
Lord above, I know now in this year 2023 there are very few of these beautiful people left…just surrounded them with your love and keep them as I’m sure they will feel you and hear you with open arms! ❤
❤
Could you imagine 80 years later these Same folks …
are dead or nearly 100 year old...so?!?!?
Câți ani aveți acum?

I am very sad that this has happened in history but what I don't like is that Germany has to take all the blame when in fact many countries joined in and didn't refuse that genocide. Nobody talks about that. Why did they not stand up?
Because just like most Germans they had no choice and wanted to protect their life and family. You can not judge people in this situation.

Just starting and already am wondering why we can never, ever....ever... hear the survivor as loud as we hear the interviewer. Ugghhh...
He looks like my SiL's father Natale

I’ve seen a few interviews with Thomas Blatt, what strength and dignity that man has. The story of the holocaust should be compulsory in our schools, just to show our young children what human beings in this crazy world are capable of.
