    David Hopkins has released music by Boredoms, Zeni Geva, Genbaku Onanies, Omoide Hatoba, Ruins, Hanatarash, Garlic Boys, Volume Dealers, and Big Black on his Public Bath and Sento labels, and has published books about Hijokaidan and Yamamoto Seiji, as well as Dokkiri! Japanese Indies Music 1976-1989 A History and Guide,through Public Bath Press. He was also a Japan tour interpreter for Fugazi and Sonic Youth and co-hosted Music For Psychological Liberation on Kansai TV with Alice Sailor.

    Very interesting stuff! I used to write to Public Bath aroud the time I started Japankore zine in 92. I mostly talked with Betsy Bath when penpaling and I recall getting Kuro-who the helpless 8" ($20?) and Jojo+Sakevi-Mammalia LP ($40?) from your sales lists.

      brian! it's michael ex voorhees. how do? jojo + sakevi lp is one of my favourite japanese releases of all-time. often overlooked! could do with reissue! i'm sharing the full lp on my channel. loved your japankore zine!

    Random timing, I recently just finished reading is book on Hijokaidan. And I can't comprehend some of those shows he saw. Shonen Knife were not only the first Japanese band but first non-western band I think I ever heard. And I had no idea Cherry ever lived in the US. All in all a great conversation and a ton of interesting music history.
