It's so nice how they help one another! Elephants will always be my favorite animals even though I like a lot of other animals, too.
I think that if we´re getting attacked by lions, elaphants could come and scare them away!

Can elephants have seizures? That's also a possibility. To me it really looked like exhaustion.
jurassicsushi That was exactly what I thought. It looked like one of my dogs did when he had seizures. Just a little different than humans.

jurassicsushi Hi there. It was a very cool rainy and over-casted day. It started raining shortly after the video was taken. I also saw the little fella afterwards walking with the herd towards the near by river. I think it was rather a matter of the temperature of the tarmac road was warmer and more inviting that the bushy are the herd was walking through. Hope this info can help.
The miracle of the elephants is they are so huge and strong but so gentle!

Because they can be, no one said they weren't beautiful or that they couldn't be gentle etc.Also no one made any mention of anything to do with Nazis or how crappy humans are. Hi there. For all those who are wondering about the wellbeing of this little elephant calf, I think the little baby elephant is ok. Saw him walking into the bush towards the nearby river after the nail-biting 15 minutes of wondering what was wrong. May be the tarmac road was just warmer than the bushy area where this herd was walking through, even though it looked like something was wrong. It was a cold morning and over-casted early morning.

The elephant's leg looks like a human's leg... especially when it kneels. So cute!
and this is one of many reasons why I dont want elephants to become extinct. They are truly amazing animals with deeply profound emotional and mental complexities. This here is one of many examples of how compassionate they are towards each other, staying behind to help a member of their own herd get back on his or her own feet. Sometimes I see in animals some of the most admirable aspects of the human animal....aspects that I wish more humans would show to each and to other animals on a regular basis.

I absolutely agree with you! unfortunately very few good humans walk among this earth right now. everyone is too jealous, self-centered, greedy, and much more these days. It's sad. but I'm not worried because the day they leave earth is the day karma will come to pay them a visit in their next life or in their life in heaven or hell.

Amazing! Looks like his 'little' leg got in a wrong position that he was unable to straighten out and so went down like. This was so touching to see animals helping their own. Much applause here when they got him up!!!
carrie mack Not really, elephants 'fold down' for naps, and the legs go all over the place. This kid was tired. He wanted to use that nice, smooth and warm place for a little nap. IF there was any reason for anyone to be worried, Kruger would be on it.

These animals never cease to amaze. We have so much to learn from them.
I always think how much better animals are than us humans. They just are and I have a hard time hearing things like “acted like an animal” or treated someone like an animal,” etc., but never quite found the right words as silly as that may sound. I cannot tell you how much your comment made my heart smile because it’s such a beautiful way to say exactly what I’ve always thought. I have never been able to find the words to express this exact thought without sounding ugly. “So much to learn from them”…I swear I felt like standing up and clapping. LoL So well put Ms. Karen!

Another calf : Let's go bro, Every one has already left.
Mother : He is not going to get up like this, I will have to make him get up.
Then she pushes him from one side to make him get up but calf tries to lay down on other side so mother goes on other side and blocks him from laying down on that side while his brother blocks the other side and they make him stand up.
Calf : You guys are too much.
Calf starts walking in anger.

Wow. This is amazing. I don't really know what happened or what went wrong, but the fact the herd came then stayed & showed that much love care & compassion for that little guy/girl was unbelievable. Woopty Wop or maybe he enjoyed the warmth of the asphalt road. Even walking on warm cement walk when it's not too hot is very comfortable.
He was almost exhausted from what i could see and wouldn't have gotten up on his own and probably would have been fried on the black top if he didn't get killed by predators first.

Egu O 1. Meat is a natural part of our diet. The first homosapiens were discovered to have meat as a large portion of the diet as it helped with brain development. Also i don't think meat is a cause for cancer, but i'll look it up just incase i am mistaken.
2. There is no doubt that animals feel pain. Its a biological way of surviving life and their ancestors would not have evolved without pain receptors. Whether they are sentient is actual debatable surprisingly. Although elephants have been none to visit sites of death and for mourning the dead (Visit this link its quite interesting video.nationalgeographic.com/video/elephant_african_mourning) there is no proof of animals having consciousness.
3. Death is part of nature.
