‘Utterly disgraceful’: SBS finally issues Warren Mundine an apology

- The Australian’s Media Writer Sophie Elsworth says the SBS’s treatment of Warren Mundine was “utterly disgraceful” during a debate about the Voice to Parliament which resulted in a heated exchange between him and presenter Narelda Jacobs.
Ms Elsworth sat with Sky News contributor Steve Price to discuss Mr Mundine’s treatment by the SBS in the debate after the Voice referendum had failed.
“I first wrote about these comments the day after the Voice referendum,” she said.
“I was just gobsmacked when I was watching that live.
“SBS has finally apologised to Warren Mundine - they would not release the Ombudsman’s report, had to get it through other means which I think is disgraceful that Australians are not able to access this, Narelda Jacobs has not apologised to Warren Mundine.”

Scrap it. Nowadays they just show trash product on 31, mostly American / English. Indigenous channel shows a lot of international stuff, including on black america, inuits, basketball... Then channel 32 increasingly is showing movies that are mainstream American from the 1980s. Its moved away from presenting programming for foreign people.

And I believe in what they fought for. I am in awe of what they suffered then and what they will suffer in the future. I do remember that exchange and was both incensed and dismayed that SBS allowed it. Warren was attempting to express his view about the way forward for indigenous Australian was badgered and, frankly, abused by Marcia and Narelda Jacobs.
