Done this most of my life coming from a old romany family I miss going out I would earn about £1000 per week out at 5am finished at 1pm 2pm use to travel miles all around london well done 👍
I used to enjoy work when j had a tipper truck , collecting scrap metals , weighing in old cars , or grey roof slates, old bricks ( yellow or mixed ) or a bit of garden clearance. Used to earn good money in the 80s/ 90's before it all changed, licences came out , payment in cheques instead of cash. . I lived near parrys in Brentford They'd take old cars - no docs needed,. Every day was different, never knew what I'd find , . Kids back then were happy to earn a tenner a day.
I’m a gas engineer and the scrap lads love coming to collect the old boilers etc.. you should try and scrap for local plumbers mate if you haven’t already. They can bell you to collect, be a good little revenue stream for u
william greig if it’s a combi swap, the scrap lads will collect from me, pay me £10 and take it away from the job. That saves me having to go and scrap it in, especially useful if your installing boilers every day as it consumes space in the van. It’s different if it’s a conversion though, for instance an old back boiler with the cylinder being swapped to a combi boiler. Typically the copper from the tank alone is quite a bit, I usually save mine and scrap in every few months. But for combi swaps it helps the engineer and the scrap lads
I used to go behind the service entrances of hotels and gyms there was always old gym equipment and heavy furniture that was no longer wanted and they were only too happy for me to take.
them lounge chairs looked alright and nice white. i would of had them. also its great what use guys do around the country. i live in coventry and in my area kerseley-end for many months the council didnt empty our recyclable bins as they were on strike. but some how they were just emptying the general waste bins. then one day there was a guy with a truck and cage on the back and he must of been happy because there was over 8 bins filled with recyclable materials. i had to throw a microwave out and i was hoping someone would take it and they did. its not nice or cool to call someone and pay them to take it when the thing isnt worth the pick up and also they earn cash selling it or whatever. use do a good job and we appreciate people like use honestly. thanks for ur work.

To put it simply it’s usually somewhere around the unit price of the least valuable part of metal of the mixed piece. It makes sense though, the margins have got to be super thin as a recycler doing anything less than massive quantities of receiving and processing. With how time consuming it must be to identify separates things like Welds or chemically bonded threading of fittings and threaded pipe. It seems inconsequential but leftover solder that slips through and on to chemical refining, presents an unnecessary complicated and a huge waste of time in a relatively straightforward process, as long as the right metals make it to the right solutions
@@Metaphysticles I don't really get any of that..so u mean anything other than the selected target metal gets melted off yes...I get this but I'm on about being paid for scrap..say u have 4 deck chairs and the rest same metal but with nothing attached..how do they calculate the weight of the chairs minus the plastic and foam padding and cotton coverings ?
