    "Think about the strumming pattern as a rhythm." That nails it. Just relax and it works. Thanks.

  • @paulhebard6420
    @paulhebard6420 8 часов назад

    I have found that if you break a strumming pattern into two sections it is easier to get it. Play the first half of the pattern repeatedly until you get it, then play the second half of the pattern repeatedly until you get it, then put the two halves together and play repeatedly until you can play it without pausing. Also, always keep your arm moving to keep the timing of the pattern. You will surprise yourself how fast you will get it, actually just a few minutes;)

    I love this song! Your tutorial was awesome, thank you! I'm 68 years and have been playing for about 1 1/2 years, I struggle with 'hearing' rhythm and I love that you show multiple ways to understand it. I relate to, d du-udu etc., when I see this I hear it!

      Hello! It’s wonderful to meet you 😊 I totally get it, hearing or feeling rhythm can be tricky and overwhelming the senses. So the trick to first clap it out or tap it on your guitar is a really helpful step you can add when learning new rhythms 🙌🎸😊

    Great! This would make a cool Duet piece, one person plays the Solo bits during the respective parts and could strum along with the A to Bm to D chords. While the other guitarist Capo's their guitar at the 2nd fret and strums the chords G to Am to C! Same key, just a different set of chords and Tonality. The Capo at 2nd fret might make the chord transitions a little easier than A, Bm and D. Either way, a fun song to learn to play! Love these Lessons Amber! Look forward to them every time.

    Your lessons are great to follow,I just struggle with rhythm,I always seem to go back to the DDUUDU!!😳😞I find that’s just a natural rhythm for me…..maybe because I’m left handed,my brain can’t cope with change!!😳🤔😀😂😜Good work though Amber👍👏👏

    • @thestellarguitarist
      @thestellarguitarist  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Sean 😊 I’m so glad you find my guitar tutorials helpful! Thank you 🙏 the DDUUDU strumming pattern can be a default pattern. BUT, it doesn’t work with so many songs so it’s not a bad thing! The trick now is to try and keep your arm swinging back and forth and keep time while strumming - that can mean adding ups and downs at any moment, as long as you are keeping time 😁🎶👍🏻 that’s how’s different strumming patterns are created and formed!

      The reason for teaching this way , as done in the tutorial , is so that whether you are a beginer or an advanced guitarist , you don't rush the steps. Then the correct methods , or the way the song is to be played is comprised if it is anticipated .
      I'm very guilty of rushing material in my guitar group at home and I play something wrong accidentally , or get out of sync .... I am the most advanced in my group .
      I always end up rushing the process because I am the most advanced .
      Patience ..... Amber has an amazing method .
      Her process has actually helped me get further ahead by taking the extra minute to do things correctly first , before jumping into the song .
      Cheers

      This is a pet-peeve of mine with most of these tutorials. I wanna see/hear the finished product first. It also makes sense for playalong because you simply go straight back to the beginning of the vid. I recently came across a tutor who not only does this but has an amazingly similar taste in music to mine....bonus 😊

    • @user-uu1wc6yz5z
      @user-uu1wc6yz5z 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@AdaptivePhenix I am not only dedicated to Amber's proven beginer guitar teaching system , but also I have worked with our guitar groups instructor to test this theory .
      I bet them a free Saturday lunch either way !
      I challenged the instructor to teach our group a song that is more difficult than they thought that we are ready for.
      Using Amber's system , and with the group Not having any knowledge of what song we were going to learn , the group actually did extremely well. That was in comparison to the instructor normally playing the tune at the start of the lesson .
      Amber's method eliminates a couple very big issues that cause problems.
      The main issue is having the anticipation of what you think you MUST achieve , rather than working in steps , allowing yourself to master each step of the song .
      The second is something I am guilty of..... by having a little advanced knowledge I always tend to rush one or two notes ahead .
      That causes a loss of tempo for me ... I also mess up the strumming patterns ....
      and I forget where I am on the barre because I am soooo focused on the songs completed state .... not focused on playing the song as it was meant to be played .
      Have you Ever been to an outdoor function and there is a band playing ... ?
      The first thing I notice is whether they play the songs like they were supposed to sound. If they don't , it generally means they did not learn the song but rather a rendition
      I have found that people in general can't see the benefits of getting further ahead faster , by doing things on a proven system . They only want things fast .
      I challenged our groups instructor over our lesson to show everyone in the group that Amber's method works wonders .
      We used to sound like crap at the end of the group lesson. Now I have our entire group watching Amber's channel but have not said anything to our instructor because the group lesson has been pre- payed for the next 6 months !
      Now , it is just a social common interest weekly group LOL
      Stellar is stellar for a reason. It works wonders for our guitar group .

      @@user-uu1wc6yz5z Maybe that if you had put a fraction of your typing time into comprehending my statement, you would understand that I wasn't critiquing the method but the format of the video.
      I don't pretend to understand the RUclips deal but it seems to me that attracting views and subscriptions is an objective.
      Some of us have been playing at an advanced level, long before this young lady was born. Personally, the A, Bm, D was obvious without looking at tablature or a video but it's worth checking how others are playing a chord progression to see if they have embellished in some way.
      Playing the entire song up-front makes perfect sense because it grabs the attention, makes for easier playalong and experienced musicians don't have to sit through stuff that they learned decades previously.
      The tutoring portion is unaffected, merely shifted.

    This is not beginner friendly. Barre chords tend to take a looooooooooong time to get down. Like a lot. The easiest way is capo on the second fret and playing G A C chords. I have played this song a lot and is on my u-tune channel.

      Hmmmm 🤔 not sure if you watched my entire tutorial because I play open chords (not Bm barre chord, I show a beginner friendly fix! 😃🙌) no barre chords here! 👌

      @thestellarguitarist I have looked at the entire lesson. When I say beginner friendly, I mean using only the 8 essential beginner chords. A/Am/C/D/Dm/E/Em and G chords. I see some, but not entirely. Sorry, but in my opinion, this is a more advanced beginner approach. Capo second, simple chords beginner should know. It's easier to play. But that is my opinion and many others I know. Excellent lesson. But on the more advanced side is all.

      There is only one Barre chord, Bm, to start if it's hard for you play a 3 fingered power chord, root, 5th and root. Once you get used to that you can practice putting your middle finger down to get the flattened. 3rd that makes it minor. Be patient it will come easier than you think
