    Great info T-bo! I just ordered the golf game, looking forward to playing it!

    Are you allowed to work the ball (WTB) regardless of whether you are short-sided or have a good angle on the pin? Thanks.

    Not sure if you're ever seen all of Dr. Clines videos. They are fantastic. Here's a link to all of them for anyone to enjoy - ruclips.net/p/PLbQEnwS3RCrT0KiLIwEoENoPldZv_3eB-

    Hi Mark - rule 6.2 says dogleg effects are ignored on second shots😊

    • @markdergarabedian6250
      @markdergarabedian6250 Год назад

      I'll try to find the graphic Dr. Cline sent me as an addendum that essentially says on 2nd shots; if the pivot of the dogleg is essentially double the distance of where your ball is and where the hole is; you factor the dogleg. Let's say you're sitting at 250. The pin is at 500. There's a dogleg pivot that begins at 450; so a heavy turn essentially before you get to the green. You need to factor that dogleg; the ball can't magically move on the CL. But yes - that's not in the stated rule book. Not sure why it's not

      @@markdergarabedian6250 I’ve seen that discussion before on Dr. Cline suggestion , I think the book says to ignore it on second shots as it “abstracts” and just assumes you are going for green or CL on par 5# and not cutting off a dogleg for better 2nd shot. Like on hole 2 it says Severe at 445. But Also says says to ignore?

    One thing with these videos Mark, if you do some yourself, you will find you’re IQ drops about 100 points as soon as the camera is on, it’s not just me as other RUclipsrs say and do the same. I’m sure if I was playing myself I would do it right. I do agree I misread that 5 iron result off the fairway vs the rough chart, I actually caught that at the end of the hole, but didn’t say anything. I am open to corrections ,I play the APBA rules as written.

      I would like to make some, but have not to this point. I have however, made a ton of diagram drawings and more than happy to share them. They are saved in a Google Slides deck

    Also that bouncing over a stream water roll is a judgement call , it can happen IRL . Rules don’t address this so it was my call

    • @markdergarabedian6250
      @markdergarabedian6250 Год назад

      But the course rules often state balls don't roll or bounce over the water. Your game; play it as you wish. If a square in APBA represent 5 yards, I personally have never seen one of my errant shots hop over any water of that length!

    Your tee shot on Hole 2 should be at 325 CL, not R10. Sorry!

    Doesn't the HORRIBLE corner rounding on that Scheffler card bother you? Seems like for the money they charge, they could do better than that!

    I hate to be a pain, but I need to be here. PRN 26 with a 5i goes 185 R30 from the fairway, not the rough. PRN 26 from the rough with a 5i goes 175 L30, and then you roll to work the ball as well. Also, that shot should have started from 260 R25 to account for the distance lost when you double it back. So, L25 turns into R25, and you lose 15 yards -

    • @gillesthibault367
      @gillesthibault367  Год назад +1

      Also rule 8.0 says to not add the yardage lost if you are inside the dogleg

  • @markdergarabedian6250
    @markdergarabedian6250 Год назад

    I know I'm a pain, and I'll stop, but Giles - a ball can't bounce magically over the water. Also; you had a severe dogleg at 445. That bad roll that went L25 actually helped you; your ball actually landed at 495 R20 and then rolled 5 more to finish at 500 R20. Your 3rd shot then would have been 20 yards from the rough with an "A" shot. We should hop on a video meet and play a few holes some time. I truly don't mean to be a pain, but I'm not following some of your ball movements here

      Game caddie put me at 275 L25 under the tree, we’re I originally was I moved it back 5 since I knew you’re be watching. 😊 I believe .game caddie was right so we were both wrong, I think we’re you and I disagree is when to apply 15 yards off the CL, I do it when calculating the distance of my next shot, you knock it off first shot flight.

      @@gillesthibault367 On that initial tee shot that had Scheffler there in the first place? If so, then the Game Caddie is not programmed for doglegs how Dr. Cline suggest they be handled; which is to move your L/R at the beginning pivot of the dogleg. These are important things that need to be I think somewhat consistent if two people were playing head to head. Which is what I think needs to happen. Document some of the discrepancies so a standard application can be made for all to follow

    What's up with the APBA golf cards? The word spacing on the "Height/Score/Weight" line is terrible! The "6-3" needs to be moved to the left and the word "Weight" moved to the right. APBA used to pride itself in producing high quality player cards but this is sloppy and amateurish. If I played APBA Golf, I'd be writing to APBA about this! APBA card sets are expensive so they should look professional! That line should be spaced more like this: Height: 6-3 Score/WldRk: 69.7/#29 Weight: 200

    Gilles - I think you're giving yourself a poorer shot than you'd otherwise have on that PRN 11.
    Dr Tom Cline has some phenomenal APBA Golf videos if you've not seen them. He has always said calculate the effect of the L/R (in your case 35 left) at the pivot point and then continue the flight w the 2:1 effect to determine final point of carry and then apply the roll. WTB is applied, if applicable, at end of the flight and before roll to determine landing spot of the shot.
    Look at this link he posted. Go to the 4:55 mark to see how he calculates the dogleg.
    If you disagree, I apologize. Your game. Just trying to help and share knowledge others have shared.
    ruclips.net/video/y2w6g0MMleo/видео.html
    I'd have you landing at 290 L15. Roll in rough is cut in half so 30 becomes 15 roll. I have you resting at 305 L5.

      Moving the ball L35 at the pivot lands the ball exactly where you stated; I see it that way too. Not moving the ball at the pivot lands it where Giles marked it. I always defer to Dr. Cline's videos on all of the nuance. In this example it makes a huge positive difference for the "bad" PRN of 11 off the Driver. I assume there was no wind, no aiming, no trying to work the ball either -

    • @markdergarabedian6250
      @markdergarabedian6250 Год назад

      You lose the effect of the dogleg if you don't move it L/R at the pivot

    I have no idea how I ended up here, but this could be the worst video I have ever seen. I never knew this game even existed, nor do I know how to play. But I guarantee there is no way a ball hit with a 275 carry and 35 yard deviation ends up where you indicated. This is the twilight zone.
