I've been hunting duck and pheasant for over 40 years and I want to tell you that I love your videos. Your awesome, you make me feel like I'm in the blind and the cold with you. I just had shoulder replacement surgery and your videos have REALLY helped get through the recovery. Thanks
Spring is finally here in our state, but I gotta say those gray skies and the sound of sleet on the marsh grass really got me excited for next year. Had to laugh when it took you 3 shots to kill that one on the water. That's ok. I usually take 6 or 7 after a lengthy chase with the kayak, dog, etc.😃
Thanks for another great video. Out of all the waterfowl content posted on RUclips your channel is one of the best. You show it like it is, the good hunts and the bad hunts. I'm curious to know your thoughts, I'm interested in going out to Nebraska for a DIY waterfowl hunt. Whats the public land hunting pressure like? I'd probably be looking at the High Plains zone.
would be super cool if you could go over your ammo info and gun info before every hunt! love your videos, yk... when the season opens up in a looong few months
Great video as usual, just curious, did you ever try the 3" 28s? Watched a video and he found the 2 3/4" patterned better than the 3s. Just wondering how they performed for you.
Thanks Ray! I did, mainly on geese. They worked well enough but I would agree with the 2 3/4" patterning better. Here's a video where I used them: ruclips.net/video/yYg398JhWMg/видео.html
I am glad I am not the only one that smacks them on the water.....they taste just as good that way as out of the air......grilled rare with a sprits of olive oil, S&P....
Is this a remote area or early in the season? These ducks don’t seem to be at all gun shy. Also not sure if it’s just in this video, but you appear to be rushing your first shot without a good follow through, then correcting it with the second shot perfectly adjusting the lead. Some hunters choose to load only one cartridge for a little while to correct this, as it puts more emphasis on taking your time with it. PS. So often harder to kill/ finish them on the water when their vulnerable parts are submerged. Pellets can just bounce off the feathers! Great video, cheers from Australia.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen happens to us all. For some reason I feel I rush my shots more when I’m shooting alone, not quite sure why. Sometimes it’s just so exciting when they pitch in, especially if it’s been a quiet morning. I love how universal the feeling of waterfowl hunting is amongst those who partake in it, no matter where in the world you are. Cheers
I’m from Wisconsin so not trying to figure out your spot, but just curious if you’re kayaking or walking in there, and how far of a trudge you have to get in there. Looks like you’re in the middle of nowhere.
I’m supposed to be sad and butthurt by this, at least I was expecting to feel that way before watching this. But I’m not. I admire how you’ve planned your shoots and executed them here. It’s pretty much the real Duck Hunt this.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen Hi! Thanks for writing back. The first part of my comment was a bit tongue in cheek and dry witted. But yeah…What you’re saying is so true of those ducks being an important source of food for you and this is the appropriate means to get them as humanely as possible. I’ll definitely be watching more of your videos. Stay well man.
Here’s a question from a uk shooter, out of interest did you not see them coming in to shoot before land, and also if it did land and didn’t want to get up can you leave it in the decoy pattern to tempt others ?
Love the video's, but why won't you water swat them? You decoyed them, they are well within killing range , perfect headshot kill shots... to each their own, just curious
I feel like I get less BB's in the breast when water swatting. Where I hunt you don't get very many opportunities anyways so I take what I can get when I can get it. However this morning I did get my first ever banded duck. Drake Wood duck. Along with a woodie limit. Any limit is rare here lol. I'm also using Boss 5's
In our country, it´s strictly forbidden to shoot any birds when they sit on the ground or on the water. Also, we are not allowed to hunt ducks alone. It has to be organized, a minimum of three people, one of them being the leader.
Letting the ducks finish. Its a thing of beauty. You would be surprised how rare it is these days. Hats off to ya for doing it right.
Thanks! Love watching them work

Great content as always! Thanks for the waterfowl fix, only in 6 months left for central California duck season 😎

No shame in water swatting. IMO that means you did your job.
Yep, just not my preference to do so.

When you do water swatting, especially at that range put the bead below the duck. You’ll find the pattern preforms much better that way.
