Oh ANNIE. I am freaking balling to this song I think I have played it 6 times already and I have shared it with like 6 people on facebook. Its got me shaking like a leaf or a rattled bone. Wondering about peple who are going hungry and war all over. You got me wide awake. What I love about this song is that while it seems obviously to be about the "demise of western society" because of a financial crisis, the lyrics are open enough to be applied to a relationship between two people. It's a very versatile song, and like a lot of his stuff could be interpreted many ways.
That being said, He and Annie Lennox together is a match made in heaven. :)

Hey there music, hope you’re doing well after two years. I absolutely fell in love with David’s “White Ladder” album. I had no idea he had done a duet with Annie L until this randomly came on My ol’ iPod and I recognized her voice.

Brilliant song. I would really love to see an album with these two doing more of the same. Definately a number 1 in my book lets hope it gets there. What makes it even better is that even live they were exceptional a faultless performance on Graham Norton.

For the anecdote, the album was recorded at the Church Studios (the former studio of Eurythmics which had been bought by David Gray in the early 2000s) and Annie Lennox rebuked David Gray because he kept the original decoration (especially carpets and tartans)...

For me, Annie Lennox is second to no one when it comes to female artist and David Gray is an amazing songwriter and performer.. I've seen him 3 times and he is amazing live!
