  • Paolo Banchero is already making his mark on the Orlando Magic, proving why he was drafted first overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Paolo Banchero's NBA debut was among the most impressive debuts from a rookie we've ever seen, and the Magic might've found their new franchise star. It's gonna spark a season-long debate about if the rookie of the year award is Paolo Banchero's to lose.

Even tho bennidect mathurin averaged more ppg than Paolo for a day.
You got to look at the fact that Paolo is basically a one time prospect.
When you look at Paolo who do he look like what does his game look like.
You can't think of anyone huh?
Think of a player Paolo height and body weight and look at his skill set and play style.
He look like LeBron don't he?
That's basically Paolo except he is still a raw version.
Paolo is a player who knows how to use his weight and height a lot.
Paolo wasn't tall growing up. So he developed a guard skill set before he out grew his 6'6 father in highschool.
Then translated those skills into his bigman body while also learning how to be a big.
Paolo also is leading rookies in blocks at his position of pf.
Paolo will be a star one day for sure.
Even tho his 3 point percentage is low look at the shots he takes.
He is fearless. Stats are stats to him, he is here to evolve and win.
Nobody can play like him with his body.

I'll be honest I really wasn't that impressed with this rookie class going in to the year I didn't think it was going to be anything special but it's looked really good so far. I think it was just that we've been spoiled the last few years between the Luka and Trae class, Zion and Ja class, Ant Man and LaMelo class and this past one with Scottie, Mobley, Cade and Green that this one just didn't have a standout name and the number one pick flip flopped all the way until the last minute. With that all in the past and actually seeing these guys on the court it's clear that this is a better class than expected. Paolo and Mathurin (Pacers you got a STEAL with that one) look amazing scoring like 20 a night as a rookie and they're doing it in ways that aren't forced. It's not like some rookies who've averaged 20 where they shoot 20 FGA to get their 20 they're doing it clean, efficient and in rhythm. Still early but can't wait to see what these guys do.

Fultz is a good bench option at least when healthy though and Anthony can provide an offensive spark. Don’t know if I love any of their guards as long term starters though, especially Suggs based on what we saw last year. But there’s still plenty of time

In term of playstyle he is like an old Lebron or Luka, Julius Randle or Ben Simmons except he can shoot lol. But the most similar is old Lebron, he is 1 inch taller, around the same weight, is very mobile with great body control, has a great feel for the game, great passing and composure, know how to use his body to protect the ball, to attack the rim and finish trough contact, he has nice handles for his height and he look like he could become a decent shooter.
I still think Lebron is more athletic even at his age wich is crazy, and of course Lebron is better at everything but in term of style he is very similar.

He could finished McGee off with that behind the back dribble, but took like 4 more dribbles just to get a layup.
A lot of his scoring could be significantly more efficient with less wasted motion trying to showcase his skill set. He needs to work on his fundamentals and footwork more, before he does all these fancy moves. Right now, he’s playing off pure talent.
