Ok this is probably the most belated thank you for a shoutout ever, but thank you so much for the shoutout! Haha, absolutely surreal to hear that I have been a small part of this slippery slope for you both. There's something just fascinatingly chaotic about a first Flosstube, honestly a battery dying halfway through is on the milder end so I wouldn't worry. Would very much like to put in a pre-order for a Bay of Kotor pattern please! And yes 100%, baking is totally a craft. There it's official 😂
Thank you so much for watching our video! That is surreal for us lol. I'll go through my Montenegro photos ASAP - I miss it so much seeing your photos/videos gave me so much FOMO.
@@CrossStitchtheGlobe Forgot to mention, Stephanie, you are in good company with your Diet Cokes. Love mine and so does Laura, Brenda and the Serial Starter!
Love your energy, girls! I think stitching your own photos is an amazing idea ❤ if you make a bunch of them you can make a whole installation in a gallery with the stitched piece and original photo side by side. It’s true art So happy you are in a Flosstube community now 🎉🎉🎉
I know this is a very late comment, but I have a tip for needles and small kids. My mom did it with me when I was a small child. Thread one end of the floss into the needle and slide the needle all the way to the middle of the thread. Start the thread and stitch down the end like you would with one thread. Now the needle can’t fall off. It saves a lot of aggravation. It’s also great for car stitching.
Thank you! I think my son (who’s obsessed with whales) has commented on your “whale stitching” when I watched your channel. He’s three and thinks sea creatures are everything. 🐳
I stumbled accidentally on one of your video, (the one where you were talking about how much out of print patterns have been sold on ebay etc), I enjoyed it a lot and I'd like to watch all of your videos starting from the beginning, as I did. I am glad I did because they seem to be really enjoyable 😊 Looking forward to watching the rest 🥰🧵🪡
Loved your first video and cannot wait for the next! I appreciate how you stitch with your son ❤ I did similar when my son was little, now that he is older he enjoys stitching small designs.
That is awesome! I hope my son (and eventually my dauther) do it when they're young. If they want to keep up with it, then that is great. But at least to have a foundation would be a nice thing for them. How old is your son now?
Welcome to Floss-tube. I am so glad I found you. You showed up on my feed & glad it did. I really enjoyed meeting you both & will most definitely be coming back.
Welcome to the floss tube community. If you put your hoop on inverted then you won't have the issue with no room to thread under your stitches. It feels weird at first but it sure cuts down on that frustration. Continue your love of cross stitch.
Welcome girls, I love your photos and your stitching is beautiful! Your video was great can’t wait to see the next one. Enjoy your week. Happy Stitching!
"Hi!!!!" 😂 Oh, can't just say "I!" Welcome! I have stitched for more than 50 years…but I am also an amateur photographer. Never stitched one of my photos nor thought about it! 😀I am so impressed with what you have accomplished in just a few months of stitching! And, full coverage just isn't my cup of tea, but am so impressed with what I see of both of yours…look forward to seeing the fully finished ones you mentioned! Welcome to floss tube! 👍
Thank you! I definitely like to bounce back and forth between full coverage and not full coverage - it's almost like two different hobbies! If you do want to stitch a photo, I'd love to see it!
What a great first video! Loved listening to the two of you chat about stitching and loved that photo from Istanbul - it's going to make a gorgeous piece!
Just came across y’all tonight and really enjoyed your easy going nature, as well as the travel stories thrown in with cross stitch. My husband and I got married in Moab, at Dead Horse Point State Park, but we visited Arches while we were there, so I particularly love me seeing that pattern. I can’t wait to see what other photos you make into cross stitch. I have a wall of canvases that are travel photos, but would love to find some good patterns to stitch of places I have been.
I LOVE Dead Horse Point State Park! When I was there, I saw a wedding a sunset and it looked magical. I think that part of Utah makes great patterns because of how many shades of red are in the rocks. I hope to make it back to Utah soon. Now I know which national parks I want to go back to but I'll also need to fit in the cross stitch stores lol!
O-M-G!!!! Congratulations on your first FlossTube!!! Y’all did a great job!!! Welcome to the stitchy family! Allison, this is Christy…girl STITCH ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!!! I’ve got your back!!!!
Totally made our day. Thank you for stopping by! If it wasn't for your channel I don't know if Allison would have agreed to go on a wild flosstube ride with me. 😅
Congratulations on your first Flosstube ladies, look forward to watching many more! Stephanie you are officially hooked!! And I say this as someone who has been a life-long multi-crafter but never did cross stitch back in the 70s and 80s for the design reasons you stated. I became a quilter in the early 2000s (which is my first love) and then fell down the CS rabbit hole a year ago after watching all the quilters I follow start or return to doing cross-stitch, LOL!! Flosstube is definitely a gateway drug! Allison, I am with you right now on the challenge of stitching on Linen (and by extension Evenweaves). I am currently working reeaallly slowly on two projects, one in each type of fabric while I zoom through Aida projects around them. However I agree with Stephanie on the appeal of the look of pieces stitched on those fabrics. At this point in my CS journey, finishing pieces quickly for display is my priority, so Aida is usually my first choice of fabric. However I do find myself more and more veering toward using 16 and 18 counts to get that finer, stitched look. P.S.: the difference in price on those DMC color cards are that the $30 ones are printed representations of the colors while the $70 ones have the actual floss on the cards.
Thank you! I wondered if maybe they were copies or counterfeit, so that’s good to know! ❤ I think I’m going to dip my toes into quilting again soon, but something simple.
Hello from East Texas. I enjoyed your first video and look forward to many more. I am also a multi-crafter and a BAP lover. I always have several very large pieces going and then try to stitch a few smaller ones here and there so I actually finish something occasionally. My largest piece, which I have kitted and plan to start for my birthday month next month, is going to be 60 in wide by 44 high. I have a picture of my daughter holding up the aida and you can't even see her :D I have been putting it off for years but am going to jump in and get it started. I really look forward to seeing what y'all start and finish
Welcome to Flosstube and the Cross Stitch community. I was so wonderfully surprised when you said you were from the OKC area. I live in Oklahoma as well, yet I live east of Tulsa out in Mayes County. I absolutely love the idea of using photos to create cross stitch projects. Are you a member or have you heard of the Oklahoma Cross Stitcher group on FB? We have meet ups monthly in 3 different cities right now. We meet in OKC, Tulsa and recently in Wayne. I look forward to seeing as you progress in your cross stitch journey and find the styles and projects that are uniquely you.

Thank you for the flosstube ladies. We cannot have too many flosstubers. 😊 With regards to the little shark stitch there are two possible fixes to take away the frustration of tucking the tail under. First you can “stitch in the well” were you load the fabric on the hoop opposite of what you currently do. Place the outside hoop on the table. Place the fabric on top of that. Then place the inside hoop on top and press into place. The other fix is to sew fabric (something like muslin or cotton) to the edges to create a larger area to clamp into a larger hoop. Good luck in all your future endeavors and I look forward to seeing future flosstubes 🍾🥂

I use Mac Stitch. Pic2Pat is free to use, but I couldn't make changes to any pixels. However, that's what my sister Allison uses and she loves it. I like Mac Stitch, but it's about $40 I think (for lifetime). They also have a PC Stitch for people with PC computers. People are really hard, so when Allison did my son it was a picture of him looking away. If you want to do the face, you'll need a big pattern with tons of colors to get the shading right. Converting the photos is easy but getting them to a size and amount of colors that you actually want to stitch is the hard part!
