How deep do you plant them? I have a bunch I've had in water and they are doing great. I've got quite a few side shoots and good roots and the tops are growing (I didn't cut them back before putting in water) Is there anything else I should know? Thanks
My daughter is doing a science project regarding different medium used to plant lemon grass. So far, from what we have seen, they do better in water for starting root. Then afterwards transplant into dirt.
I just depends, I have a 400 watt CFL and it's not enough so I have moved them outside. But this winter I will start a new crop with a 1000 watt light that should allow me the keep them indoor year around.
I've had problem with bring outdoor plant indoor. I would advise anyone not to do it. I keep my plants separate. These plant did great until I brought another plant indoor and the bugs infected and kills almost everything.

Do you keep them in your green room/house all year round? Or do you take them in during the winter time and outside during the summer?
They do great in hot climate. I have a few growing outside in the summer time and they are looking really good.
after you pick some out of the plant, do they still grow new leaf?

They make a lovely tea.
when you plant them in the ground do they spread a lot?
Thanks for posting this. I'm trying to do the same thing - make an asian herb garden.
The leaves make a wonderful tea
Yes, They keep on growing. Their a member of the grass family so they grow just like grass. You have to make sure they don't get root bound.

Yes, new leaf should grow. Remember the plant is part of grass family. The grow fast and strong given the right conditions.
You can also use Lemongrass to make Masala Tea/Chai.
not to deep about 2 inches into the ground. Other than that, they should do real well without any help.
