My school's marching band did a show with the JLCO, it was super cool meeting these guys as a trombone player myself.
My fave Elliot Mason solo is still on a Janek Gwisdala tune called Mana from the album Live at the 55 Bar. Crazy chord outlining

As a trumpet primary, I think hitting a dub F on trombone is pretty easy. It's when you get beyond the triple Bb on trombone that higher notes start becoming more pointless lol
as a trumpet main i agree high notes on the tenor instruments are pretty free
