just saw machine head perform live on the 14th of February this year (2020) for the very first time. The entire crowd was controlled and harmonizing for 5 minutes the "Doo doo" section. It was quite the first impression \M/
You definetly know how to create music if you can do the same song with drums, e-guitar, base and screams to make it sound superbadass and do it with just an acoustic-guitar and clean vokals to make it sound like awesome campfire-music
Here in the darkness that I lay Depression heavy in its weigh And how my body aches to leave To sing its final eulogy My sons I love you evermore And though the road beckons once more I see the damage that I've done In search for redemption But I am just a broken man Whose souls cries out to understand How the madness shatters me Upon the stage on bended knee I scream out loud at skies above That answer mute bereft in love I struggle not to fall from grace Or sing the hymns of my disgrace We build cathredrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within Mysterys forgotten chords I strum in vain to please the lord But he has never answered me My faith has waned eternally In empty men who pass along The woes of all religions wrong But now the shadowed veil it falls Heed the clarion call So pray to music build a shrine Listen in these desperate times Fill your heart with every note Cherish it and cast afloat Because god is in these clef and tone Salvation is found alone Haunted by its melody Music it will set you free Let it set you free We build cathredrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within Music my saviour (save me) We build cathredrals to our pain Establish monuments to attain Freedom from all of the scars and the sins Lest we drown in the darkness within
Robert Evans you can find them here tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/machine_head/darkness_within_tabs_1219972 the difficulty is getting the tuning right, it’s actually a few cents higher than drop B, it’ll sound nicer on a baritone guitar but failing that you can get the same effect in drop D as long as you’re not playing along with the track for practicing
My only complaint is that it's tuned a microtone high from Drop B, so every time I want to play along I have to retune. A minor inconvenience, and well worth it for this amazing piece.
I have decided that this song, of all songs I've heard, is the best one. Pure work of art
second that

@avi-if9eg dude same
Yup, that's me 😂
His melody pulls me up from the darkness within
I like this version so much more than the new 2021 updated version.
This song is so awesome.

WHO THE FUCK ARE THE 7 PEOPLE WHO DISLIKED THIS!? THEY WILL CRASH & BURN
Good thing the dislikes aren’t shown anymore. Just enjoy
What a sincerity! Awesome piece of music!
The A Capella at the end gave me mad chills
2023 and i still listen to this masterpiece👍
This song still hits hard.
Music it will set you free....let it set you free.
This is the best version and its not even close. So sad its not on Spotify
Why isn't this on Spotify anymore? It's a beautiful song
I’ve been wondering the same thing. It’s one of my favorite songs right now :/
I listen to this masterpiece everyday
I still have it downloaded so it skips every time it comes on
Maybe it's because of the re-imagined version.
@@Cgh33 I know it's the saddest thing ever
This was the "Stairway to heaven" -esque epiphany song he had when he wrote this song and its damn friggin insane song!!
do doo doo doo dododododooooo
Cool song!!
Thanks for the awesome content!
Here in the darkness that I lay
Depression heavy in its weigh
And how my body aches to leave
To sing its final eulogy
My sons I love you evermore
And though the road beckons once more
I see the damage that I've done
In search for redemption
But I am just a broken man
Whose souls cries out to understand
How the madness shatters me
Upon the stage on bended knee
I scream out loud at skies above
That answer mute bereft in love
I struggle not to fall from grace
Or sing the hymns of my disgrace
We build cathredrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
Mysterys forgotten chords
I strum in vain to please the lord
But he has never answered me
My faith has waned eternally
In empty men who pass along
The woes of all religions wrong
But now the shadowed veil it falls
Heed the clarion call
So pray to music build a shrine
Listen in these desperate times
Fill your heart with every note
Cherish it and cast afloat
Because god is in these clef and tone
Salvation is found alone
Haunted by its melody
Music it will set you free
Let it set you free
We build cathredrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
Music my saviour (save me)
We build cathredrals to our pain
Establish monuments to attain
Freedom from all of the scars and the sins
Lest we drown in the darkness within
U do realise this is literally a lyric video....
This comment is about as useful as a plane with no wings
@@DannyRoss_ you forgot to mention that the lyrics he posted arent even what's sung in the video, but the full original
Thanks for sharing! Great version!
this is song about a lack of faith in religion. and faith that music can really set you free.. right?
