- How to fit humbucker covers. Firstly you'll need the right size humbucker covers so measure the poles to check whether they're 50mm or 52mm. Remove the humbuckers from the body, clean them up with some sand paper, dab some silicon and boom, job done.

I'm just looking through videos and I came upon this video while looking at burnt chrome covers. I literally just re-wax pot my humbuckers lol solder the cover on then into the wax it goes, never had them squeal on me.
Just fitted my first Humbucker covers. Your method is brilliant, guess what 🤔 they didn’t squeal. Thanks 👍🏻
Short and to the point, thanks man!
Great instructions! I just picked up a Tele FMT with 2 open humbuckers. I couldn't find black covers, that would match the black hardware, so I got stainless and blued them very dark. It looks awesome and sounds much better. It isn't as sharp/raspy sounding; more warm tone. Also it isn't as punchy as before, which was what made me want to try covers in the first place. It's perfect now. THANKS!
You taped the other coils magnets. I wonder why because it influences the sound? Why not put the tape in the center of the coils as there is also even surface?
Great vid mate!. Did this to my passives awhile ago. I didn't need to solder mine as the covers were tight enough. No way I'm getting them off I don't think lol. Looks much better imo. Went for black myself.
Black covers sound amazing! That’s what I want to do on my SG, all black hardware. Where’d you pick the covers up from?
@@PherotoneStudios yeah they look awesome haha. I'll have to send you a pic. All black hardware is what I was doing on my white LP. Would look ace on an SG!!. I got them off eBay. I can send the seller if you want. They were about a fiver if I remember correctly
@@PherotoneStudios Hi, does the 52mm cover fit a f spaced or trembucker (53mm) humbucker
Straigh to the point, thank you
Will a 50w soldering iron do the job?
Hi guys, just wanted to drop in and say that all I did was put the electrical tape over the slugs. The covers I got were such a tight fit that I pushed the pickups all the way through and everything is sounding good as far. Haven't had "pickup squeal" yet. Cheers!
But what if you want to install 12 hole humbuckers … ?
Thank you brother
Hi everyone ,I was wondering if you could help me out here.
I was planning to change the cover of my pickups ( Gibson Humbucker 490r e il 498t) in gold tone so I would need to change the Pole Screws too in the same colour.
I bought Pole Bolts - Slot Head 5-40 x 18mm (imperial).
Did I get the right POLE Screws or did I need to buy different ones?
I am still waiting to receive the guitar with those pickups so I can not really tell but these pole screw looks a little too small to my eyes.
I am not an expert so I was wondering if you could help me out
Thanks!
Thanks for the overview! With 2 Super 70's humbucker pickups to replace covers, I found your video. Question for you, the poles in these two Super '70s are a bit rusted, is this something you would consider replacing these also? Thanks!
Excelente video… 🎉
My guitar has two single coils in a humbucker slot. Can i still put a cover on them?
What about 12 hole humbucker covers? Can't cover them with the tape.
Can i use the acrylic double sided tape instead of insulation tape with silicone on it?
Can you do this without soldering?
What's there to fit, you just shove it in and see if the spacing's right.
- definitely no point in isolating other coil's rods, noone ever does it as the cap is always concave on top
- don't even need to solder anything, the sides already scratch the baseplate enough
So my humbuckers have 2 sets of flat lugs and no screws will covers still work
Out of interest, which guitar are they on? I’m sure covers should work though
Done all this then realised that the cover doesn't go through the pick guard hole!
