- Here's an F1 onboard lap at the Sokol Circuit located near Almaty in Kazakhstan. Another circuit designed by Hermann Tilke, it is 4.495 km (2.793 mi) long and is marketed as an FIA Grade 2 circuit. It is Kazakhstan's first major motorsports complex, and it is set to host MotoGP races in the near future. The Kazakhstan motorcycle Grand Prix was originally planned for 2023, but the inaugural event was pushed back to 2024.
This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Charles Leclerc using the F1 2023 Ferrari SF-23.

Even before I read the description, I could tell from the track map that this was a Tilkedrome. The man certainly has a style.

The circuit that got cancelled from MotoGP because it wasn't ready. Just like Kimiring. Besides that, the back straight and final corners remind me of Welkom which was also on the MotoGP calendar

Apparently it was more down to the fact they’ve barely sold any tickets for the event too, and it’s literally in the middle of nowhere.

Of All the tracks in the World, THIS one has the Most difference in lines of where you would head on a Fast Lap vs. Defending. I LOVE it. There would be So many passes here.

yeah excactly, reverse seems much better, takes advantage of the heavy braking zones.

I really like that turn 5 very hard to read. Really like the corner before and after the longest straight very technical and tricky. Surely it is designed for motoGP purpose but even F1 car would challenge well there. Great Mitsos as always

We were set to have MotoGP here this year but it got cancelled. I won't be sursprised if ultimately MotoGP never comes here. Not the first time something like this happened.

This is a better track than I gave it credit for, on paper it’s an absolute snoozefest. It definitely seems like Tilke tried to do what he accidentally created with Istanbul Park - design a circuit and realise it’s better the other direction. Didn’t really work in this case but it makes the first sector and the fast corner at the end of the long straight very interesting.
Useless fun fact: Sokol in slovakian means falcon in english.

MotoGP was due to race here this year, but it was cancelled last week. I'm glad it's cancelled, if you designed a track to eliminate all overtaking, this is what I'd design. Flat too, there's no saving this circuit.

If you run this backwards it's just Bahrain mirrored.

Excellent lap. But I don't believe this track is made for Formula One in the future. It is very suitable for MotoGP. For F1, I even believe that it would be better if it were in the opposite direction, counterclockwise. I missed the replay with the external view. But I don't know if it was available. Thanks for yet another completed suggestion my friend. Great video.
Some of the tracks I’ve been trying recently don’t have cams set up unfortunately. It’ll be back for my next hotlap though! Phoenix’s 1991 F1 layout!

@@Mitsos1311 As suggestions for upcoming videos in the United States, in the 90's IMSA used a lot of street circuits like San Antonio, Minneapolis, Des Moine, Columbus, Tampa, Del Mar, West Palm Beach, New Orleans, Meadowlands. Belle Island and Washington could be included too, but that's more for the year 2000 onwards, and not just for IMSA, but also for ALMS and Indycar. All these circuits are actually not very suitable for an F1. But it would be interesting to see a quick lap in one of them.

There seems to be a recurring theme of MotoGP tracks getting built or planned, then the event doesn’t happen or the track doesn’t get built, and money is wasted as a result. Something’s not right…

From turn 6 to turn 7 couldnt it have been a drs zone?

Yeah I used DRS there a few times while driving it but opted not to use it for the video as the distance felt a little short
