suggestion to install a storm cellar at creek property a safety issue when having campers camping
That sounds like a great idea. Although to be honest campers should be in a safe place when big storms happen away from camping area.
The tops of the trees tell a story. You didn't take a direct hit, that is just blown down trees caused by wind. If all the trees around one that's fallen still have their tops then a tornado did not hit it. Massive trees can look fine but have some rot happening that made the tree weak. I think that's what happened there.
The way they are all twisted up makes me think it was still twisting winds as in tornado but it’s like it was coming up and down it’s so odd
@@KeepingItDutch Yeah I am still watching. Glad no one was hurt. Be very careful around leaning trees and limbs. They're called widow makers for a reason and can drop in an instant. I would completely clear the areas you're planning on camping in because seeing those huge trees drop from the roots is scary

No trail of a tornado.. Just heavy winds on the outside of the tornadoes...
The ceiling of the porch looks great. Lots of fallen trees down at the creek. That's a good way to get help cleaning up the damage by letting have the firewood. Be careful when cleaning up those big trees. Love your videos. GOD bless y'all.

Glad to see things are still moving along on the house. Snakes have been a problem with all the rain we have gotten across the country this year. Not a fan of the poisonous ones. I am so thankful everyone is safe. God’s blessings.

I know it doesn't feel like it as you look at the mess this storm made at the creek property. It will take men and machines many hours to clean that up, it really is massive. But thankfully it didn't hit the homestead the same way. The south has really taken a lot of hits this season, major hits. So many have lost everything they have, sometimes even members of their family. My heart goes out to each and every one.

I'm not sure how safe that would be with all those trees. Trees have a nasty way of blocking doors, but i'm sure something could be worked out.

Wow! That's a lot of damage! We don't get tornadoes here in Washington State on the eastern side. Sometimes we get a small funnel cloud, wind storm or bad snow storm. Praying for all of you in Oklahoma, Texas, Nebraska and others in the Midwest.
Despite all the damage, it's a really nice property, and you must be very happy you purchased it last year. So much potential!! And the natural beauty is exceptional!

Lots of lumber for your sawmill. Use the lumber to build the campsite facilities. Maybe even simple cabins and blinds.
I need a sawmill for all the big trees that fell on my property here in East Texas. I would use it to build a barn and some sheds

It may just be old superstition but I remember hearing as a child that when a tornado gets close to water it bounces up and down like that. And that tornadoes are especially dangerous when they are following a creek or river. Just some old deep mountains Tennessee talk I heard over and over as a child but I also heard the same exact things in Indiana too. It's crazy that the last creek property video you had done I mentioned that you need a storm shelter there for when or if you're camping.
You can make a narrow foot bridge for that really long tree that felt during tornado.

Get a chain saw mill that will allow you to quarter saw the big logs so. You can saw them on your regular mill.

Hey, Dutch put up a carport and place the camper under it. if tree limbs fall on the carport or hail it would save the camper from damage. A tree falling on the carport would not save the camper though.

Thank God you weren't at the creek property when this one hit! All that damage is unbelievable! Especially that oak tree that must've been at least 100 years old! Praying that God grants you the help and equipment you need to make short work of the cleanup.

Oak trees have lots of ticks drop from them, when little we always avoided going under oak trees

Ut big upended tree, not tornado, but high wind - probably bad root system

You have some nice trees for a sawmill. Use a portable mill to cut trees to size to fit your sawmill.

Hi Dutch, The porch will look great after you get it done. That place is a full time job in it'self. If you build a shower house, storm shelter, maybe even a shelter and cement pad for cook outs all solar powered LOL Please be careful when you are out there. I would never go out there with out wearing boots because of snakes. Not even on the homestead not at this time of year. Love you all God bless you and until next time take care
Dutch, cut the large trunks three ( 3) feet long, then cut seats out of them. Cut it to seat height by cutting it to 1/3 to 1/4 thick. Now you have seat around the fire. You can move them with your equipment

I know of people who have done that, and then at the end of the camping season when they're running low on campfire wood, they burn the seats too!

You should contact a company that sales ground clearing equipment and get one of those grinders that mulch up brush and small trees ground up to clear the ground.

I don’t know but if you plan on camping up there maybe put another storm shelter. I don’t think you would make it to the one by the house plus if you have other people that would be a tight squeeze.
we had three giant trees come down during hurricane Sandy. One missed the house by less than a foot. It definitely would’ve crushed me if it hit the house. It was kind of scary to look out my window and have a tree right next to it. I’m glad you’re all safe.

Sean check into an Alaskan Chain saw mill. You might be able to find someone who has a big enough one to help mill that oak down enough to fit on your mill. It would be an awful thing to lose all that wood!!
Or use some of those big trees to build some small cabins for a camp sight.

The tornado we got absolutely did do the up and down and jumping around.
Our Bing Cherry tree produced mega every other year.
I hope my off grid is ok. Been gone back to TX. for the past two weeks .

Can’t believe Oklahoma (my home state) has had so many tornadoes and rain this year. So glad you got the shelter installed and have stayed safe. Worry about all of the animals having to be out in the storms. Dutch get you some snake boots!

Talking about snakes did you see Daniel almost touched one when burning 5 or 6 cedar brush piles in a field? He is fine but the rattlesnake slid back into the pile he was burning.
It was a rattlesnake. Much more deadly than a copperhead.
I think Daniel said it was a timber rattled getting ready to shed its skin.
