I remember that from days gone by also. Mom had a stackable tray set that she filled for each of us that were in the field. Each tray was an individual serving. Mom knew I didn't like peas so I never got any. :)
2012 was the last fall my dad and I farmed. He turned 75 that fall and said that was enough because his knees were really starting to bother him. The equipment was old and needed replacing so we decided renting out the land was in our best interest. Sure miss it now. Life was better on the farm. No matter how bad the weather was or if we were broke down it seemed less stressful then working a 9 to 5 job. Sometimes I think I should buy equipment and go farming again but just don't have the financial resources to do so. So I watch these and other farming videos and it takes me back to better days. Thank you Welker Farms.
You guys are the freaking best, lunch in the field almost brought a tear to my eye. When i was a kid my dad worked on a farm in Missouri, and everyday around 4 his boss would bring us a snickers bar and a soda. Didn't matter if it was harvest or planting, he always brought out a snack. Thanks for bringing back those memories.
Very heartwarming to see the whole family gathered together in the field to share a meal and support one another. It's something this Country needs more of. God Bless
That is family time that you never forget. The pains and struggles fade away, but the peace that defies understanding lasts forever! You videos remind me of that, it is truly inspiring and encouraging.... I miss home, Vaughn MT, and the family time I had there!
Nick, I am impressed by your generous nature. When I see and hear your father, I can see where half of your spirit comes from. You have a lovely family and an impressive family farm operation. Thank you for sharing a small part of your lives with the rest of us who farm vicariously through you. Godspeed and full bins!
the best part of the day is when you get to eat lunch with your family in your farm after working together .....and the food tastes a million times better than any 5 star restaurants. I love farming
Got a little steamy eyed seeing the entire family in the field in the shadow of the trailer having lunch. Farm families and things like this are the epitome of what's great in America and unfortunately all too often reminiscent of a time gone by when families gathered for meals. Reminds me of lunches on our (since sold off) farm in Michigan. Thanks for sharing. God Bless!
Watching these videos, and getting older by age, i know I made the worst decision in my life by moving away from the farm/ranch, and farm life. The Big City is slowly eating my soul, I miss my home, I miss my upbringing, I miss the smells the tastes, the hard work, but mostly i miss my Neighbors and Family!! You guys bring a little "fill" to this old soul I have!! Stay Safe and thanks for bring reality to me. I Need to think about moving back home. The desert aint any fun, I need my rolling hills and harvest!!!
100% THE best part about harvest.... lunch and supper in the fields, food never tasted sooo good when served in the field around equipment, the smell of fresh harvest, God I miss it.
There's so much to consider being a farmer weather being the one of the main things. Total respect to you guys and all farmers world wide for pretty much providing us all with food.
This is an amazing series. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this and thank you so much for providing so much food to the tables of America.
What a tremendously beautiful moment for you and your family it's all about family I pray all goes well with your harvest, families like yours and many others are what truly makes America great thank you Welker Farm
Having grown up on a 2-bottom plow-size grain and livestock farm in the Midwest I am in awe of the size of your machinery, and the (to me) huge number of acres you all have under cultivation! Watching this video there was a long, clear, overhead shot of the multi-line electric power lines running across your land which caused me to wonder about the rate you folks have to pay for power because of the unusually expensive cost to the power company to run and maintain those lines with only a handful of customers utilizing the electricity from those power lines. However, living in that absolutely beautiful “Big Sky Country” I expect that a higher light bill would be a small price to pay for living there. I wish you three generations of Welkers continued success!!!
From august to end oktober we were working overtime every day. My boss every night bought us french fries with a meat ball every day again. Only on saterday he took us all to the farm and we had a decent meal in the kitchen. Good old days. ;)
Good that ordinary people can see that farming is not just harvesting. There is something more to it, it is a lifestyle! I come from the Netherlands and worked in the flower bulbs when I was young. We had lunch in the same way, an unforgettable experience. Thank for sharing your life, you have a wonderful family and a very great company.
I grew up in Illinois farmland. My family farm was in West Alabama. I am so glad to see you showing the world that is is not easy being a farmer in the modern world. Imagine when we retired the mules. 1958. Not that long ago. I'm loving your videos. Regards, Solomon

As a truck driver i understand the hauling aspect of what you all do. On the other hand the farming side looks even harder than i thought. You all do an awesome job showing all aspects of what you do. Loyal fan forever. I came across your channel because of Mn Millennial farmer.
When you said your favourite thing was to stop and get some grub really brought me back to when I used to do a lot of field work. The pick up truck showing up with the cooler full of sandwiches and a nice cold drink was like heaven coming!

There's something special about sharing meal together, it's one the reasons I really like working for the small family farm in Oregon. I'm not apart of the family, just a hired hand for the summers. We stops most days at 12 (Not during harvest) and come in each lunch together. Seems small, but it's a great thing to do! I like how you all set up in the field during harvest and eat together!
Another great video, and LOVE the 3 generations of Welkers working and having lunch together. One thing common on all the farm/ranch videos I follow, its a very tough business. I hope you and all the others are successful, and people watching these realize how important food is to America and the World, it doesn't come from McD's. Sad news, its really raining here in Missoula, and afraid its heading that direction.
Man I miss eating out in the fields with family and co workers. I grew up on a Dairy farm and during those long harvests mom would bring out a feast. Thank you for sharing. God Bless...take care.

That was crazy when you caught a rock in the feeder, and bent the crap out of that bar! That was amazing getting the whole combine across the overpass without any damage! Truly awesome! I hope the wheat ripens a little more so you guys are able to harvest all of it! God bless and be safe welkers
The challenges you guys face every year to feed the world! What a great ending to the video....Thanks again and good luck on harvest. God bless you all.

Hello from Dawson County, Montana. Bummer dudes! Just when the harvest is gettin' started, a feeder house bar gets bent, saw flys and now too much moisture. I know the feeling. In '93, the cool, wet summer pushed harvest into September before I could start cutting. When I thought the wheat was dry, that evening I'd get a shower and have to wait a couple more days. It was a huge investment but it allowed me to get the harvest done and every year after that, I could get into the fields two weeks ahead of everybody. Sawflys were another issue for me. I truly enjoy your videos...keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your harvest with us...take care.
Man, that is some beautiful land. I grew up farming on my grandparents farm in bonners ferry Idaho. They raised cattle and had an alfalfa field, the whole farm was about 250 acres. I can’t imagine having as much land as you guys have. That’s amazing

Grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. We would never stop for lunch. Mom would always bring out some sandwiches and some treats. But for some darn reason those were the best tasting sandwiches ever.
We can't go down hardly any of our roads even with 35 ft heads, much less crossing an interstate but we use header carts that are separate from the head instead of those convertible self-contained units you have so we can drop the heads much quicker. Great video.
I miss lunch in the field the most honestly. We only had a small farm but our equipment was way small as well. And did alot by hand lol. Still loved every min of it.
Traditions build memories with those little ones. So important! It’s good to see that despite the difficulties you’re taking time to do what’s most important. Much luck on your harvest!

Here in Ireland we have lunch or dinner in d field the whole way from sowing the field to baling the straw and taking it out of d field it's just brilliant looking back to see wat effort u put into and then what mother nature gave u to make it grow.
On the ground...and as the wheat continues to dry, the heads become heavier because the moisture in the wheat weighs less than the dry matter that displaces the grain. BTW, that Jake is an "Interstate Concerto!" Nice lunch and closing footage... beautiful!
9 o’clock at night running your combines across that bridge. You guys are badass that was good footage. Lousy about the saw flies, I hope your wheat 🌾 harvest is still good. God bless Welker family. Your video is a Saturday morning routine for me now lol

16:20 to 16:35 Do It Again Do It Again! You could make an hour long video of the 9370 (with coal camera) up shifting, downshifting & most importantly letting that jake scream! Love it!👍👍👍
I understand the frustration. The last thing you want is to worry about is the condition of a harvested crop in the bin. That makes for a lot of sleepless nights. You made the right call. I’m sure you know that where soybeans are grown we run flex heads and auto header height.. That would really help you out with the down wheat problem. Best of luck!🍀
I’ve done that before 😂. 2388 and 20 ft head going over an interstate bridge. Was as wide as the road and the bridge bowed up so you couldn’t see traffic until too late. Scary as crap. Good to see y’all had escorts and strobes.
Had I been passing underneath that overpass and seen all that equipment rolling over I would have been geeked out!!!🤯 Love the family getting together to eat also🙏 💪😎👍 〽️
Thank you for the video they are always top notch brought back many memories of harvest and having lunch at the field thank you again hope y’all have a safe and bountiful harvest and Gob bless you and your family
we run 45 foot draper headers on our johndeere combines. we have to sometimes go down the road with them. 45 feet of header is a lot to keep an eye on for rocks when we combine soybeans we float about an inch above the dirt. we use a land roller on our fields that dad built it's 30 feet wide. the roller pushes the rocks and smothes the soil so we can combine faster.

"Roll Coal Cam" I could watch that all day. Thanks for the videos. Takes me back to helping Grandad on his Farm in Floyds Knobs Indiana.
Nice Nick! Very well done!
Had I been passing underneath that overpass and seen all that equipment rolling over I would have been geeked out!!!🤯 Love the family getting together to eat also🙏
💪😎👍 〽️
I didn't read all the comments but I grew up on a dairy farm and we had to pick rocks every year. Of course dad's rock picking machine was us kids
Thank you for the video they are always top notch brought back many memories of harvest and having lunch at the field thank you again hope y’all have a safe and bountiful harvest and Gob bless you and your family
That’s great to see everyone in the end eating together like a big family 🤘🏼
Yes, family lunches out in the field...PRICELESS!
Another awesome video. :) its cool to see how another farm runs there operation. Getting another perspective is awesome.
we run 45 foot draper headers on our johndeere combines. we have to sometimes go down the road with them. 45 feet of header is a lot to keep an eye on for rocks when we combine soybeans we float about an inch above the dirt. we use a land roller on our fields that dad built it's 30 feet wide. the roller pushes the rocks and smothes the soil so we can combine faster.
Thanks for the scenes from Duell...
These videos are awesome! Time to go be a farmer. I cant get enough of these videos. Just fantastic
Your videos keep getting better and better! Keep up the good work!
That's nice people still have old family traditions
