      Ish With Fish I dunno where he is maybe he said it and I missed it, but, regarding cali and Mackinaw fishing, Tahoe is one best mackinaw fisheries in world the lake is so look big and so deep its its own ocean and unique other reason it's so phenomenal is Tahoe has freshwater krill shrimp! Huge ocean like massive schools of krill big krill shrimp schools are huge acres and ACRES AND I've seen schools on my sonar the size of football Feild and 60-80 feet thick up and down but larger across and sideways then football fields and there was other schools 100 yards away same size, omg you have no idea how insane the amount of krill is jn tahoe, Tahoe is over 1600 feet deep a massive lake and there is unmatched amount of millions of crawdads in Tahoe basin and kokanee and rainbows and shiners and lots other stuff for mackinaw to est, but has huge mindblowing unimaginably large schools of jumbo freshwater krill shrimp and they make the Tahoe mackinaw biomass world class and the deep pristine ice cold water combine for the mackinaw I Tahoe to be the most delicious Mack lake trout in world, krill fed like ocean salmon they have rich pink mild delicious meat. Tahoe Mack fishery I best in world for table quality and flavor, and numbers. However even tho Tahoe has big macks 20-30 lbs, the avg is liken6-8 lbs, it doesn't have Tons of the 30 40+ lb fish that some lakes In Canada have, but, notnonly does t ahoes macks taste Better then macks anywhere else,but there's more quantity of them then any were else, it just doesn't quite give the fish as big as some other places. But for numbers and taste table fare, it's unrivaled and unbeatable. Near by to Tahoe is dinner lake a small hi sierra sister lake to Tahoe that also has epic Mack fishery but not the krill and no where near the numbers its small lake but deep and excellent Mack fisherýfor big macks, and bigger avg size then Tahoe ifnyou wanted a 20 lb Mack donner give you one quicker then tahoe. ANYWAYS, I digress. Lotta people don't realise Tahoe Is best mackinaw fishery in world right here in ca.

    Looks like Union Valley near West Point. Was just there. Sucks that they are turning it into a fee area. Been camping on that side for years. Killer Mackinaw! Nice work.

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Yes you got it right. Is that mean they are going to have running water?

    • @crystalbowlpersuasions4458
      @crystalbowlpersuasions4458 5 лет назад

      @@MooMooOutdoors Not sure but Vicini got the contract! They better have water if they are charging. I just hope they don´t make all the sites along that side pay to play.
      I camped about 500 feet from the launch - no one was there. I had the whole damned lake to myself. Everyone thinks that it is closed to campers - it ain´t. Hit it again this year and bring your burn permit because, believe it or not, you can still have a fire!

    Someone told me "lake trout' or "Mackinaw" are actually not trout at all, but Arctic Char. All I know--for sure, is they are one of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen, bar none.

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  4 года назад

    You know, I"m right handed--so I use a "left hand" baitcast reel, that means I cast with my right arm, crank with my left, also pump the rod with my dominate arm. I see right handed people casting with their right arm--then switching the rod to their left hand, makes zero sense, to me.

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  4 года назад

      You are right. I actually use both L and R hand baitcasting reels. I think reeling in with a dominant hand came from conventional reels where you use the dominant hand to crank in fish.

    • @PNW_Adventures1
      @PNW_Adventures1 3 года назад

      Always reel left handed. Rod in dominant right hand for casting fly rods and holding powerful fish. Reeling with left or stripping line

    Went to Lake Tahoe today for macks, but skunk. Nothing on fish finder; 100ft, 200ft, and 500ft. Couldn't find any drop off. Went fromTahoe City to Tahoe Pines. I gave up. How deep did you find those macks? And how do they look like on Fish Finder. Thanks

      That's too bad. I've never fish Tahoe for Macks but my buddy does pretty good there. I was fishing 70-100 fow in this lake and they show as bigger arches on the just off the bottom for me.

    What set up did you use? Lure? any recommendations? I'm going to bucks lake this weekend with my kayak , don't have a depth finder so I'll be going blind. hopefully find a shelf they are sitting on.

      2 oz P-line Lazer Minnow and 5 inch pearl white swim bait with 1.5 oz jighead worked for me. Any rock fish jigging rod to medium heavy bass rod will do. I would recommend at least 15 lb line. I was using 40 braid with 15 lb flouro top shot.

    I’m going trout fishing in Pillsbury soon I was hoping you could give me some advice
    Love the vids

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. I never fished Pillsbury. Are you fishing from a boat or from the shore? When I"m fishing for trout from the shore, I like using garlic scent powerbait. When I'm fishing from a boat/kayak, I like to troll for them with spoons or Rapala trout lures. Good luck.

      No worries. I’m just a beginner and have only been on my kayak 3 times. I don’t have your kind of gear anyway, but I really love the time spent on a lake. It just looked like a nice peaceful and safe place for me to practice on. Do you have any suggestions for good fishing lakes around Tahoe?

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  5 лет назад

      I'm not familiar with Tahoe area but I hear Echo lake and Silver lake are good for trout fishing. Lake Tahoe is good for Mackinaw but you should really watch the weather. It can get nasty quick with high wind waves.

    Boy, you make it hard not to own a kayak. I always wanted a Mack, have trolled for them in the past, but got skunked. Swimbaits are a game changer!

    • @MooMooOutdoors

      I highly recommend kayak fishing. They are a different game and very fun.
